About this Instruction Handbook

This Instruction Handbook is meant to be read when the scanner interface card is installed and the scanner is to be
used as a network scanner. It explains the set-up method and operations on the machine.
As the required set-up for the scanner may differ depending upon the environment in use in the connected computer
(PC), please read those sections related to your specific computer environment and perform the appropriate set-up
explained there.
This handbook should also be read and used together with the appropriate Instruction Handbook <Functions Edition>
(On-Line Manual) that is on the included CD-ROMs. The Instruction Handbook <Functions Edition> (On-Line Manual)
explains how to scan, various setting methods and operations from PC.

The CD-ROMs included with this product contain the Instruction Handbook <Functions Edition> (On-Line Manual) in
the format of PDF (Portable Document Format).

Carry out the following procedures to open and view the On-Line Manual.
1. Insert the appropriate CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of your computer. The Main Menu screen for set-up will automatically appear.
2. Click on Documents in the Main Menu screen in order to access the desired On-Line Manual for viewing.
* The Adobe Acrobat Reader software is required to be already installed in order to access the On-Line Manual. You can
install it from the CD-ROMs contained with this product since the Adobe Acrobat Reader is included on them.

1 Scanner interface connector
This is the interface connector to connect this scanner to the network. Connect a 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX or 10BASE2 cable here. * Never remove the scanner interface card.
2 Main switch
Turn this switch ON ( | ) first, prior to using the scanner.
3 Operation panel
Use when performing settings, etc., at the scanner itself.
4 Original cover
Open or close when setting the original on the contact glass.
5 Contact glass
Place the originals here. Set the originals at the left inner corner with its face down.
6 Original size index
Always set the originals at this index when setting it.

2-1 Setting up the Scanner

(1) Outline and Network Diagram
On a standard network, the scanner will be connected to each computer through a hub. Scanned originals by this scanner are converted to the image data and the data are sent to the computer through the scanner interface (10BASE­T, 100BASE-TX, 10BASE2).

(2) Connecting the Scanner to the Computer
Turn the main switch, located on the right side of the

scanner, OFF (O). CAUTION: ALWAYS turn the main switch OFF when connecting the network cable.

cable to the Scanner interface connector located on the right rear side of the scanner. * Never remove the scanner interface card.
(3) Network (TCP/IP) settings
This section explains the procedures to set the network address for the scanner.
Notes
• The network address that should be set here will differ depending upon your network environment. Check with your network administrator BEFORE performing this setting.
• If you are using a DHCP server to configure the network address, this setting will not be necessary because DHCP server configuration is already enabled as the factory default setting.

Once it is complete to enter all network addresses

and returned to the scanner setting screen of Step 8, use the M and N keys to move “e” to select “1 End (END)” and then press the Enter key. (Or press “1” of Numeric keys.) After each address has been set, make sure that DHCP is set to “OFF”, then turn the power to the scanner OFF, then ON again. The entered address will be effecitive when the scanner is started up. Network setting is now complete.

There are three methods to use this network scanner. Perform the following procedure to install into your computer the required utility that is appropriate to the application and operating system in use in your computer.
Scan to PC Stores the image data of scanned originals as a file in the desired PC folder. Install the Scanner File Utility into the corresponding computer to use. * Initial setting for the utility and destination registration from
the Web browser are required. For details, refer the Instruction Handbook <Functions Edition> (On-Line Manual).

E-mail Transmission Sends the image data of scanned originals as a file attached to an email message to the desired receiver. Install the Scanner Delivery Utility on the desired computer to use. * Since this utility can be used for transmitting an email, you
can use it only by installing into one computer.

the Web browser are required. For details, refer to the Instruction Handbook <Functions Edition> (On-Line Manual).
TWAIN Calls the scanner from the TWAIN-compatible application according to the application procedures to use. Install on a computer with the application to use.

(4) Installing the TWAIN Source
To carry out scanning using PaperPort, it is required to install the TWAIN Source before installing the application.
Start Windows.

Insert the CD-ROM supplied with the scanner into the

CD-ROM drive. A start window will appear. * If the following screen is not indicated even if the
CD-ROM is correctly inserted to the drive, double click on the CD-ROM icon in My Computer window on the desktop screen.
Click the [Scanner Utilities] on the screen.

3-1 Image scanning by “Scan to PC”

Installing the Scanner File Utility attached with this scanner on a computer allows you to send the image data of scanned originals to the computer.
(1) Prior to start the computer transmission
First, perform the following set-up procedure in order to use the Scanner File Utility.
1.Install the Scanner File Utility into the desired computer.
2.Run the Scanner File Utility and register the folder into which you want the scanned data to be saved.
3.Register the IP address, registration name and destination number of the Destination PC to save the file by entering those same data in the screen of the Web browser.
* Take the number of NO (1-100) of the destination folder
to save, which you registered in the Scanner File Utility, and enter that same number into the Save Number field in the Destination PC screen.
For details, refer to the Instruction Handbook <Functions Edition> (On-Line Manual).
(2) Image scanning by “Scan to PC”

3-2 Delivery of copies by E-mail

It is possible to send the image data of scanned originals as a file attached to an E-mail message to not only the desired destination network computer but also to computers around the world over Internet by using the attached Scanner Delivery Utility with this scanner.
(1) Prior to send E-mail
* Check that this utility has started up on the network
computer in which the Scanner Delivery Utility is installed when you want to send E-mails.
* Receivers that you want to send E-mails should have been
registered using the Web browser. Refer to the Instruction Handbook <Functions Edition> (On-Line Manual).
(2) Scanning the image for E-mail
Press the Scanner key to display the selection screen of scanner functions.

3-3 Image scanning by TWAIN

Image scanning by TWAIN are roughly divided into two methods. Perform scanning according to the operation condition.
(1) When settings are initiated from the computer.
Start up the TWAINSource from the application. Main

dialog of TWAINSource will appear. * Start up method of TWAIN Source may vary
depending on the application. Refer to the application manual used.
Click the connect button to connect with the scanner.

* While the scanner is used (copying), it will not be
connected. It will not be connected until it becomes the initial state by auto-clear function after copying.
* If the copy management functions are not set in the
TWAIN when the copy management functions are set in the scanner, the management code entry screen will be indicated when connecting with the scanner. In this case, enter the management code and then click on the OK button. For the setting method of copy management functions, refer to the Instruction Handbook <Functions Edition> (On-Line Manual).
Select the desired settings and select “Waiting Scan”.

* For TWAINSource setting method, refer to the
Instruction Handbook <Functions Edition> (On-Line Manual).
Once your computer is connected to the scanner, the

Connect button will change to the Scan button. Click on the Scan button once it appears. * Click on the cancel button when you want to cancel
scanning originals.
* When “Waiting Scan” is not set, set the original on
the scanner first. Click on the Scan button to start scanning.

* At this point it will be possible to perform settings on
the scanner’s operation panel. Change the current settings, as desired. (P3-8, See “Scan setting”)
* The settings made on the operation panel will take
precedence when settings are made on both the operation panel and the computer.
* Press the Scanner key when you want to cancel
scanning midway through it. Scanner will return to the original screen of copying and the message, which informs that the connection with the scanner is disengaged, will appear on the computer.
Press the Start key.

Scanning originals starts.

between the scanner and the computer. When the computer is connected with the scanner, the Connect button will change to the Scan button. Click on the Scan button. Scanning of the set original will begin. * Click on the cancel button when you want to cancel
scanning originals.
* If the copy management functions are not set in the
TWAIN when the copy management functions are set in the scanner, the management code entry screen will be indicated when connecting with the scanner. In this case, enter the management code and then press the OK button. For the setting method of copy management functions, refer to the Instruction Handbook <Functions Edition> (On-Line Manual).
Perform settings on the operation panel.

When scanning the set originals is closed, scanned

3-4 Scan setting

Scan setting screen is indicated when scanning originals. To carry out various settings, proceed the following procedures.

A Scan image quality selection key
Select the image quality corresponding to the originals. Press the scan image quality selection key to let the indication of desired image quality light up or all lamps go off.
• Automatic concentration mode (First indication lights up.) Select this mode when you want to set the automatic image concentration.
• Text + photograph original mode (Second indicator lights up.) Select this mode when you want to scan the original that is a mixture of photographs and text.
• Photograph original mode (Third indicator lights up.) Select this mode for an original that is mostly a photograph.

B Image concentration adjustment key
You can select the image concentration.
• Move the concentration indicator to the right when you want to increase the concentration.
• Move the concentration indicator to the left when you want to lower the concentration.
* While the automatic concentration mode is selected, all
concentration indicators go off.

Lets you scan the book (spread) original or the 2-sided original separately per page. * RADF is required to separate the 2-side printed original. * The original size that can be separated as the book original
are 11x17 inch, 8 1/2x11 inch, or A3, A4R, A5R, B4 and B5R. Transmission sizes are 11x8 1/2 inch, 8 1/2x5 1/2 inch or A4, A5, B5 and B6.

image on the back side will be rotated 180°. This function is convenient if the top is reversed on the face and backsides of original.

amount of data to scan (the width of original is more than 13 5/8 inches or 346 mm and resolution is 600 dpi).
