2-1 Installing the paper feeder
WARNING The FS-5900C or FS-5800C printer weighs approximately 51 kg (112 lbs.). It
must be handled by two people. When installing the paper feeder, be careful to
avoid dropping the printer.
The paper feeder weighs approximately 14.4 kg (31.8 lbs., including 2 Media
Cassettes). Observe standard precautions for lifting heavy objects.
The printer is not permanently attached to the paper feeder. When you move
the printer, move the pieces separately; moving the printer incorrectly may
cause damage it or personal injury.
Turn off the printer, then remove the power cord and cables. Move the output tray 1 to the up
position and temporally tape 2 in place.

Place the paper feeder on a solid table or cart, with the media tray slots on the right. Place the
printer on top of the paper feeder. Always keep the printer upright. Make sure that the alignment
pins (PF-80: two pins; PF-81: three pins) fit in the holes in the base of the printer.

Set the transparency cassette into the upper slot of the feeder. A media cassette is already installed
in the lower slot.
Caution Set the transparency cassette into either the upper slot of the paper feeder or the
printer. Jams may occur if it is installed in the paper feeder's lower slot.
