In order to increase the reliability of our systems, we are utilizing long-lasting parts which decrease the
operating costs for both the user and the maintenance costs for the dealers, by reducing the down time of the
systems and the labor costs of technicians. The use of unit maintenance kits will reduce the time needed for
maintenance to be completed when it is required. As a result, marketing this product to current and new
dealers should be easier, since the dealer profit will increase, strengthening current partnerships between
dealers and Kyocera Mita and enabling us to gain new dealers who are marketing competitors' products.

Immediate Re-Output: The Bar Code Document Management Function.

When a sudden meeting is called and there is no time to re-spool and print a document, and the user is
worried about the copy quality...Then the Bar Code document management function of the Ecosys
printer is very useful in this case. The data will be linked with the bar code and saved into the HDD.
Just scan the bar code, which is printed with the original document, with the bar code reader, so that it
will be able to re-printed easily without starting a PC and re-sending the data. Of course, it is possible
to choose to print all pages or specified pages only. If the bar codes of the documents which are used
often are listed and readily available, it will be easy for users to print out their stored document
whenever needed quickly and easily. It is very convenient to print out the letters or proposals which
are the fixed form document.

a) With a first copy speed of less than 3.9 seconds, even one copy is fast & convenient.
Realized because of the short paper path and inner exit tray design.
This is the fastest first copy speed in its class compared with competitors.
b) Stackless duplexing mechanism improves productivity. Duplexing productivity 90% [KM-2530] / 84%
[KM-3530]
High Duplexing productivity nearly as fast as single-sided copying increases the customer's
productivity while reducing energy consumption and TCO.
c) The original scanning speed for the RADF and ADF is performed at 100% speed, the same speed as
the print speed.
This will enable users to get the first page out from the exit tray at the same time as the document is
finished feeding..
d) The 3000 sheet Finisher staples and hole punches at 100% copy speed. Additionally, the Booklet Finisher
(Saddle Stitcher) output speed will not be reduced too when RU-1 is installed.
e) A large paper supply of a Maximum 4200 sheets is possible when the optional 3000 sheet paper feeding
deck is installed.
This is recommended for high volume copy and print users.
f) This system comes with a 200 sheet built-in internal bypass which can be used like an additional cassette.
This bypass unit comes equipped with auto paper size sensors and it is possible for 200 sheets to be fed
continuously in the same way as a normal cassette. Up to A4 Landscape Size paper can be stored inside
the machine allowing three paper sources for the standard configuration.

a) 3 Different types of finishers are available to match the customer's requirements.

・A built-in type finisher which saves space & requires no special attachment kit.
　　・A Multi-functional finisher with which booklet stitching, multi-stapling, center folding, and punching can

be done.
　　・A High productivity finisher with which 3000 sheets stacking, punching, and multi-stapling can be done.
b) The RADF can hold a maximum set size of 100 originals at once, which is the largest capacity in its class.
As a result, large sets of originals do not need to be divided in order to scan once and copy many.
c) The optional duplex unit is an internally integrated system, like the Vi230/Vi310, greatly
reducing space, unlike many competitors with internal exit trays.　Another advantage of this unique design
is the fact that the user's paper supply is not reduced by a duplex unit that usually takes the place of a paper
feeding cassette.
d) Two types of optional paper feeders are available.　The 3000 sheet deck for high copy and print volume
customers and the 500 x 2 drawers for customers who wish to have access to various types of paper media
online.

8䋩 Scanner Function [Print/Scan System (N)]

a) The Wide TSI panel makes Scan operation easy and similar to using a Fax. Additionally,
multiple originals can be scanned automatically, unlike flat-bed scanners selling in the market now, which
only allow single-sheet scanning. Because of the SRDF-2, both duplex and single-sided originals can be
scanned automatically as one image file.
b) The Print/Scan System offers a high performance original scanning speed equal to the copy speeds: KM­2530 =
25 sheets/min.䇮KM-3530 = 35 sheets/min @ 600 dpi.
c) Network traffic will be reduced, since scanned data will be compressed by the scanning system internally..
d) Compressed data is sent directly to an SMTP server by attaching the data to an E-Mail message.
Therefore, Scanner Delivery Utility software is not necessary, and does not need to be installed in a PC
Server.
e) Compared with former scanner products, distribution capabilities have been expanded and improved.
Broadcast functionality is possible, using Scan to PC, as scanned data can be sent to multiple PC folders
simultaneously.
A PopUp Message will also be displayed at client PCs that receive scanned data files.
f) Special "Address Book" software will also be included with the scanning system, to enable users to
organize destinations which frequently receive scanned data. Scan to E-Mail Destinations that are
registered at a PC will be displayed at the TSI Operation Panel for easy selection when scanning. It is also
possible to import E-Mail address information from E-Mail Programs such as Outlook Express or from
other lists using the C䌓䌖 file format (eg. Excel).

9䋩FAX system (C)

a) Since a soft keyboard is displayed on the wide TSI Operation Panel, it is easy to enter fax info as with a PC
keyboard.
b) Up to a maximum of 300 fax numbers can be pre-registered, however up to 50 program & group dial
numbers can be registered. This is a big increase compared to the 200 pre-registered fax numbers
possible with the Vi230L/310L.
c) Since this Fax System uses JBIG Compression, half-tone images can be faxed much faster than previous
systems.
d) A4 documents can be faxed in 3 seconds, because of the Super 䌇䋳 (33.6kbps) modem speed, thus
reducing transmission costs considerably.
e) The Rotate Transmission function enables A4 portrait originals to rotate 90°so they are transmitted without
reducing or enlarging the image. This capability increases the ease of use for customers, since they can
place originals in portrait orientation for both faxing and copying. At the same time, Rotate Reception
ensures that images are rotated to match the available paper. Faxes received using reduction reception can
not be rotated. In this case, if matching paper is not available, the fax will be printed by split print out
without any reduction.
f) Duplex fax reception is possible when the Duplex is installed, thus saving paper costs for customers. It is
possible to turn duplex reception on or off, using the User Settings. It is also possible to transmit duplex
originals automatically using the duplex transmission function, as long as an RADF is connected. In this
case, when faxed documents are received in the duplex reception mode, it will assume A3䊶B4 originals
should be output in a Landscape orientation. Other sized originals will be output in Portrait orientation and
will automatically be processed so the back side rotation is based on the original size and direction and
printed with left side binding.

g) ITU Sub-Code compatibility enables Confidential, Relay, Bulletin Board transmission and reception
among
other systems that are Sub-Code compatible. Previously, these capabilities were limited to compatibility
among common manufacturers.
Sub-Code compatibility increases the number of fax systems with which these capabilities can be used
considerably.
h) It is possible to use N-up reception so that when receiving 2 A 5 Pages Portrait documents, they will be
printed onto one A4 paper which also reduces paper use. This is only possible when two or more pages are

As technological developments have increased the importance of PC and network use in the fast-paced
environment of the business world, the amount of information being handled has grown considerably. These
changes have brought about demand for new document management systems that have affected the design
and concept of our products. The result has been the creation of powerful business solutions that meet the
needs of our demanding customers.
In designing our new products, we have shifted our focus from simply providing convenient output solutions
in the form of copiers and printers, to creating total systems which combine various applications and
networking technologies to enable our customers to better manage their increasing information.
䇭This new perspective has enabled us to design innovative solutions suitable for the information revolution.
Our new designs are based on the concept "Knowledge Visualization", as we strived to create a new image as
a total solution provider through our new information management and output systems.

䂓Purpose of the new design

䇭Based on this background, we kept the following targets in mind when creating our design:
䇭 1.Our design should be new and original that is different than traditional copiers.
䇭 2.The design should emphasize advanced technologies of information systems.
䇭 3.The system should be designed to ensure high reliability and performance.

عExplanation of the design

ޓRegarding the color scheme

In order to emphasize the dramatic changes in our product design, we decided to change the color scheme to
increase the product appeal. Our two tone color scheme, which utilizes dark blue and black will accent our
design changes when introduced on our catalogs and websites. The basic color of our products remains the
same as our previous products to remain consistent with our enhancement options and to unify the image of
our entire product line-up.
Black and Dark Blue were selected as accent colors to symbolize the spread of networks infinitely, like the
stars in the "Universe". Workstation and PC manufacturers have also recently used black and silver in their
product designs and we have taken this trend into consideration. We believe our color scheme effectively
differentiates our products from our competitors that have begun using bright blue as an accent color. We
adopted the use of silver color for the operational panel to improve the image of our products and differentiate
them with our competitors.

Regarding the style

ޓIn order to appeal our reliability and performance, the style expresses the merge of power & speed

effectively. The style of the center part of the machine which looks similar to armor, stands out since it has
never been seen in former copiers. The shadows created by this design are also effective in helping the
product to appear smaller and yet sturdy and fast. Even though the Falcon has the same width as the Phantom,
it looks much smaller.
At the same time, however, we strived to make the internal exit section appear wider by removing the wall
which is on the right hand side of the Phantom by reinforcing the pipe support for the scanner section.
Together with the unique design of the front of the system, the synergistic effects create a an image of a large
internal exit section. By looking at the exit section from the side, you will realize its actual size and
understand this design effect.
The scanner section tends to look delicate, since the inner exit section of the machine appears strong like a
pillar to the left side. As a matter of the fact, they are strong, and the straight linear style emphasizes the
advanced technology and reliability.
