SB Number: SB 2BJ-015
Issue Date: 21/08/2002
Subject: Black spots on image (drum pinholes / charger leak)
Model: KM-2530 / 3530, FS-9100DN / 9500DN
Phenomenon
Pinholes may occur on the drum which may lead to black spots on the image.
Cause
If the separation section becomes dirty due to paper dust, toner etc., the separation voltage becomes high
and charge leaks to the drum via the ‘BRUSH SEPARATION’.
Countermeasure
In order to prevent the occurrence of charge leakage as much as possible, the limit value has been
changed as follows.
l D155 rated voltage has been changed from 18V to 15V.
l Limit value of separation output voltage on ‘HIGH VOLTAGE PCB’ has been changed as follows:
OLD 5.4 KV to 6.0 KV NEW 4.1 KV to 4.7 KV
Field Measure
Please instruct the user to clean the ‘BRUSH SEPARATION’ as mentioned in procedure on page 2 of this
bulletin. Check and clean during next maintenance or service visit.
