MOUNTING YOUR OUTDOOR LCD TV:
LOCATION: Although not necessary, you should try to locate your Outdoor LCD TV in a shaded area (this will
give you the best possible picture at any time of the day). Note: Our MirageVision LCD TV has proprietary built-in UV Shield LCD Pixel Protection (UVSPP) that protects the LCD screen from direct Sun UV Rays damage. The unit has built-in protection that when the sun’s rays are too strong and shinning directly onto the LCD screen…the unit’s screen will “black out” until the sun moves away from the unit or you move or turn the unit away from the direct sun rays from pointing onto the screen.
Make sure you fully secure the TV unit to our optional table top or taller ground stand or any wall using aftermarket optional adjustable wall brackets (you can purchase these at most any electronic stores, such as; Best Buys, Circuit City, Comp USA or Internet).
INSTALLING LCD TV UNITS EXTERNAL AC/DC POWER PACK: The LCD TV unit comes equipped with an external AC to DC power pack. You must plug the 3 prong AC plug into any outdoor GFI (Ground Fault Interruption) AC 110V outlet.
CAUTION: Do not mount the power module directly onto the ground. Mount as close to the GFI AC 110V outlet as
possible, keeping the module off the ground. You can also mount the module on the back of your stand, as long as the stand and the LCD unit are minimum of 10 ft. away from any water source.
The other cable, coming from the TV Unit, plugs into the round style matching jack located on the AC/DC power Pack. This delivers DC power to the TV unit. This DC cabled is located on the bottom of the TV and is installed through the input component box’s bottom cover.
WIRELESS RECIEVER SIGNAL ANTENNA’S: There are two black “screw-on” antennas that come with the unit. You must install them on the bottom of the TV Cabinet. Note: Do not over tighten, just hand-tighten. Do not
force turn against the “swivel” or could break the Antenna off from the cabinet. For the best reception, angle antennas
to point towards the ground. You might have to re-adjust them for the best reception and distance.
External Antennas (used to receive DWT signal) (for best reception in most cases…point antennas towards the ground)
POWERING UP THE TV UNIT:
Once plugged into an GFI AC power outlet, a red LED light should be “on” in the right hand side of the TV display window (located under the front screen). Using the wireless hand-held remote, push the orange power button to turn “on” the TV. You should now see the red LED light turn to green.
Make sure the LCD screen color is “blue” and it is in the “digital receive” mode. The “digital receive” lettering should be displayed on the top left portion of the screen. If not, you will need to push the “Source” button on the hand remote, as well as move the highlight bar using the CH+ and CH- to highlight digital on the screen. Then, push the Menu button on the remote. This should reset the TV to digital mode.
INSTALLING THE INDOOR DIGITAL WIRELESS TRANSMITTER (DWT)
Once you have the TV power “On” and set to digital receive mode, you can then install the Indoor Digital Wireless Transmitter (DWT). For the best display demo, we suggest installing the DWT to a DVD player, digital HD satellite receiver, or cable tuner equipped with an S-Video Out Jack. Install the DWT indoors, near your video equipment cabinet, but try to install the DWT unit as close to a window as possible, and not more than 300 ft. (line of sight) from the outdoor TV unit. Plug the DWT AC Power Module (that comes with the DWT) into any indoor AC 110V outlet. Plug the other barrel style jack into the back of the DWT unit labeled “Power In.” Always try to point the “front” of the DWT towards the TV unit (this will give you the best “line of site”) for the transmitted signal.
Depending upon which source you are intending to use, such as DVD, satellite receiver or cable receiver, you will need to install a S-Video type cable into the Video IN Jack, located on the back of the DWT. Then plug the other end of the S-Video cable into the S-Video OUT, located on the back of your chosen source (DVD, satellite receiver or cable receiver). This will send the signal from your “Source” to the “DWT” and from there outside to your “LCD TV Unit.”
INSTALLING AUDIO CABLES FROM SOURCE TO DWT
Use any RCA style jack to hook up audio signal from your source to the DWT. To accomplish this, install the red and white RCA jack into the “Audio Out” red and white of your Source. Plug the other red and white jacks into the matching “Audio In” located on the back of the DWT. This will send the audio signal from your Source to the DWT.
NOTE: RCA audio cables and the S-Video cable are provided with the 27 and 32 inch units. These cables come in different lengths, as you might need longer ones, depending upon how far away you mount your DWT from your source. You can be purchased longer cables at most electronics store such as Radio Shack, Best Buy, Circuit City, Home Depot, Kmart, Wal-Mart, Target, etc.
Once your connections are correct, push the Power Button, located in the back of your DWT to the “IN” position. This will power up the DWT unit. CAUTION: Make sure all connections are correct before turning on the DWT. If all connections and settings are correct, you should now have a picture on your LCD TV screen.
INSTALLING SOURCE “IR” WIRE: Plug this IR wire into the Jack labeled “IR” located on the back of the DWT. Then mount the other end (the end with the IR bulb), so the IR bulb is positioned pointing towards the “source” IR window. This will allow the user to use the “Source’s” Hand Remote Control (outside) and point it towards the front of the LCD TV to control the “source” functions. Note: You must use the “source” Hand Remote Control to control the functions on the “Source.” You will still need the MirageVision Hand Remote Control to operate the TV and Volume Functions.
Digital Wireless Transmitter (front view) Digital Wireless Transmitter (back view)
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND: The TV’s picture quality is preset for outdoor bright sunlight conditions. To re-adjust picture brightness, contrast, color and sharpness, push the “Picture Button” on the remote to choose the function. Once you make a selection, use the VOL- or VOL+ to adjust settings. After 15 second the display will disappear and settings will update to your selection. To adjust the TV Picture to the best and sharpest Picture, adjust the Brightness, Contrast and Backlight (B/L). Keep the “Sharpness” low for the best possible Picture.
TROUBLE SHOOTING:
For the best outdoor picture quality, set the TV in a shaded area, avoiding direct sunlight on the screen, as direct UV rays can deteriorate picture quality. The MirageVision Outdoor TV uses proprietary Anti-UV protection circuitry, keeping the LCD panel from direct sunlight/UV damage. To protect the liquid crystals from damage, the TV’s LCD screen will turn to “black” and fade out. If this occurs, simply turn the TV “OFF” and move it out of direct sunlight and the picture will return in a few minutes or simply wait until the sun has moved way from shinning directly onto the LCD screen. This could be more prone to occur from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. (during peak sunlight and high UV hours). NOTE: Prolonged everyday use of the TV in the direct sunlight could cause LCD screen damage.
If There is No Picture on the TV Set…
1. Double-check to be sure the signal is playing on and through your source.
2. Check that the TV is powered “ON” and displays a blue screen.
3. Check that the S-Video Cable on the DWT is installed properly to the S-Video In and the S-Video Out on the
DVD or the Source.
4. Check that the Power Button on the DWT… make sure it is in the “On” position (Pushed In).
5. Check that the DWT is not too far away from the TV or point it towards the TV Unit.
6. Check that the TV Input is in Digital Receive Mode.
7. If there is still no picture, turn “Off” the TV, unplug it and wait a minute. Then plug TV back into the AC
outlet and repeat procedure again. If the TV is still not working, please call our Technical Support Line.
8. If the picture “freezes” on the screen while using the Digital Receive Mode, simply power OFF the LCD TV
and then Power back ON.
If There is No Sound on the TV Set…
1. Check that the “red and white” audio cables are connected correctly.
2. Check that the volume on the TV is turned up and you are not in the “mute” mode.
NOTE: Because of the design of the water resistant cabinet the speakers will not play real loud…to play TV volume louder, you can add external “wireless outdoor speakers” easily to the unit, by plugging the wireless audio sender to the Audio Out Jacks, located inside of the Input Junction Box, located on the very bottom of the TV Cabinet. The “Audio Out” (red and white) Jacks are the only loose wires in the Input Junction Box.
NOTE: You should use a surge protector between the AC plug and the house AC outlet. Now, (before powering up the DWT) install the S-Video cable to the S-Video In on the DWT and the other end into the S-Video Out on the DVD player. Install the red and white audio cables into the Audio In jack on the DWT and the Audio Out jack on the
DVD player. Plug in the DVD player into an AC 110 outlet and power up the DVD. Install the DVD into the player and push Play on the DVD. Turn on the DWT Power Button (push on - the button will be in the IN position). The picture should be transmitted onto the Outdoor LCD TV.
To Turn OFF TV: Push the Orange Power Button on the hand held remote control and then unplug the TV power cord from the AC outlet. Note: The “red” LED will still be ON when the TV Unit is powered OFF and plugged into the AC Outlet. This is normal…when TV Unit is unplugged from the AC outlet, the red LED will go out.
To Turn OFF DWT: Push the Power Button IN on the DWT, so the button is in the OUT position and the Power LED light should go out that is located on the front of the DWT.
Optional Hard-Wired Inputs: Your MirageVision LCD TV comes with optional inputs that are located in
the “Input Junction Box” on the very bottom of the unit’s cabinet. You must first remove the “thumb screws” and then remove the back lid. Look inside the box and located on the bottom of the TV cabinet is the optional input jacks. These jack inputs are labeled and are for the purpose of hard-wiring from the “source” directly to the LCD TV. You can slip the input wires through the sponge rubber located on the very bottom of the Input Junction Box.
Input Box (hard wire jacks located inside)
Switching Input Functions: To switch from one input to another, simply push the button labeled “Source”
on the Hand Remote…Then a input source menu will appear on the TV screen…scroll up or down using the Ch- or Ch+ on the Hand Remote until you highlight the proper input selection. Once the proper input is highlighted, then push the “menu” button on the Hand Remote to lock the selection in. If this does not work, repeat this process.
NOTE: You must have the selected input “hard wired” into you “source” and the “input junction box.”
Optional Audio Out Jack: Located inside the Input Box is a pair of RCA Audio Out Female Jacks. This
can be used to install Audio Out from the TV unit to an Amp Source, such as: Wireless Speaker System, or Surround Sound System. Caution: Do not install external speakers directly to the TV Units Audio Out Jacks.
Additional Function Buttons: Located on the right side of the LCD TV Cabinet is a set of water-proof
buttons. The functions are labeled and they can be used instead of using the Hand-Held Remote.
