OPERATI ONAL GUIDE
• Rem ov e th e el ec tr ode c a p an d im m ers e th e
meter in MA9015 st orage soluti on for 2 hours
to activ ate th e elec t r ode.
• Turn the meter on by pressing th e ON/OFF
button. All t he used segm ents on t he LCD wi ll
be visible for 1 s econd or as long as the button
is pressed.
• Immerse th e electrode i n the solut ion to be
tested. Stir g ently and w ait for the readi ng to
stabilize, i.e. the instability indicator
(hourglass) on t he LCD turns off.
• Select the pH or ORP (mV) mode by
pressing the SE T/HOLD button.
• The displayed pH value is automatically
com p ens at e d for t em p er at ur e. T h e OR P (m V )
value will be displayed on the main LCD, while
the temperature will always be displayed on
the sec ondary L CD.
• To free ze the di splay, whil e in measu rement
mode, press an d hold the SET/HOLD button.
The “HOLD” message appears on the
secondary display and the reading will be
frozen on the LC D. Press any butt on to return
to the norm al me asurement mode.
• To turn the meter off, press the ON/OFF
button. The “OF F” message will appear on
the secondary display. Releas e t he button.
Note:
• Before t aking any m easurem ent, make s ure
the meter is calibrated (t he CA L tag is on).
• Af ter us e alw ays t urn th e met er OFF , rin se
the electrode with water to minimize
contamination and store it with a few drops of
storage (MA9015) or pH7 (M10007) solution in
the protective c ap.
NEVER USE DISTILLED OR DEIONIZED
WATER FOR STORAGE PURPOSE.
CALIBRATION PROCEDURE
The ORP (mV) range is factory calibrated.
Contact the nearest Service Center for
recalibration, if necessary.
For better acc urac y, f requ ent cali brati on of th e
tester is recommended. Calibration is also
necessary after electrode replacement, after
testing aggressive chemicals and where
extrem e accu r acy is r equi red.
• Tu rn the meter on and select the pH mode
with the SET/ HOLD button.
• Press and hol d th e O N/OFF /CAL but t on until
the “OFF” m essage on the sec ondary LCD is
substitut ed by “CAL”. Release t he button.
• The instrum ent enters th e calibration m ode
by displaying “pH 7.01 USE” (or “pH 6.86
USE” if the NIST buf fer set was s elected).
• For a single-point cali bration, imm erse the
electrode in any buffer, i .e. pH 4.01, 7.01 (or
6.86), 10.01 ( or 9. 18).
• The meter activates the automatic buffer
recognition. If no valid bu ffer is detected, the
meter keeps the USE indic ation active for 12
seconds, and then replaces it with WRNG,
indicating th at the sample being measu red is
not a valid buffer. Ot herwise, if a valid buffer is
detected, then its value is shown on the
primary display, and REC appears on the
secondary LCD.
• If the pH 7.01 (or p H 6.86) w as used, press
the S ET but ton to exit th e Calib ration mod e
and the “OK 1” message will appear on the
display. The first calibration point is stored and
the meter returns to normal measurement
mode.
For better accuracy, it is always
recommended to perform a 2-point
calibration.
• For a two-point calibration, immerse the
electrode in pH 7.01 (or pH 6.86) buffer
solution.
• After the first point has been accepted, t he
meter will t hen ask for the second bu ffer and
the messag e “pH 4. 01 USE” will appear.
• Rinse the electrode and imm erse it in the
second solution (pH 4.01, 10.01 or 9.18).
• If a vali d buff er va lue i s det ected , th e REC
message is displayed and the meter
completes the calibration proc edure. The LCD
shows the accepted value with the “OK 2”
message and the instrument returns to the
norm al m easur ement mode. O ther wise, if no
valid buffer is d etected, the meter displays the
WR NG m essage.
