MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE:
1• Turn the meter on by pressing
ON/OFF.
2• When the LCD displays “- - -”, the
meter is ready.
3• Add 5 mL of DPD 0
reagent by using a
syringe.
4• Fill t he cuvet up to th e
10 mL mark with 5 mL
of unreacted sample
usi ng a pipet te.
5• Replace the cap and
shake gently for a few
seconds.
6• Reinsert the cuvet into
the holder and ensure
that the notch on the
cap is positioned
securely into the
groove.
7• Pr ess ZERO and “ SIP” will blink on the
display.
8• After a few seconds the display will
show “-0.0-”. The m eter is n ow zero ed
and ready for measurement.
9• Remove the cuvet. Open it.
10• For free chlorine measurement:
Add 3 drops of DPD 1 reagent.
Replace the cap and swirl gently.
11• Immediately insert the cu vet in to the
holder and ensure that the notch on
the cap is positioned securely into the
groove.
12• Press READ and “SIP”
will blink during
measurement.
13• The instrument directly
displays concentration in
mg/L of chlorine.
14• Then, for total chlorine measurement,
remove the cuvet and add to the
reacted sample 3 drops of DPD 3.
Replace the cap and swirl gently.
15• Reinsert the cuvet into the holder and
ensure that the notch on the cap is
positioned sec urely into the groove.
16• Wait for 2 minutes and 30 seconds
then press
READ and
“SIP” will bl ink
during
measurement.
17• The instrument directly displays
concentration in mg/L of total
chlorine.
Interferences
• Brom ine (positiv e error)
• Chlorine dioxid e (positive error)
• Iodine (positive error)
• Oxidized Manganese and Chromium
(positive error)
• Ozone (positive error)
• Alkalinity above 250 mg/L CaCO3 or
acidity above 150 mg/L CaCO3 will not
reliable develop the full amount of
color or it may rapidly f ade. To resolve
this, neutralize the sam pl e wit h di l uted
HCl or NaOH.
