The M&K LP-1S gives your system full bass biamplification with your M&K Powered Subwoofer. The
LP-1S uses purely passive circuitry, introducing virtually no noise or distortion. There is no low pass filter
in the LP-1S. It feeds a full range signal to your Subwoofer. The filter circuit in your M&K Powered Subwoofer
matches the high-pass of the LP-1S and requires no additional circuitry. The LP-1S is not designed for use
with the original Volkswoofer (cube style cabinet), the Volkswoofer-A, or the Volkswoofer-III.
The LP-1S can be located almost anywhere it fits conveniently around your components. It is sensitive to
hum, however, so it cannot be placed next to a power transformer. If the LP-1S sits too close to such a
transformer (like in your power amp or receiver), it will pick up hum. If you hear hum through your system
when using the LP-1S, try relocating the LP-1S.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You should use a
your main power amplifier. This cable should be as short as possible. The capacitance and length of the
cable to the Subwoofer are not critical.

Now, look at the LP-1S. You will find four pairs of jacks. From left to right, they are: BASS OUTPUT;
TREBLE OUTPUT; INPUT; and SPECIAL. The SPECIAL jacks duplicate the INPUT jacks and are not
used.
1. Run a stereo interconnect cable from the MAIN output of your preamplifier (or PREAMP OUTPUT
jacks on an integrated amplifier or receiver) to the INPUT jacks on the LP-1S. Run one side from the preamp
Left MAIN output to the INPUT jack labelled "L". Run the other side from the preamp Right MAIN output
to the INPUT jack labelled "R".

amplifier’s INPUT (or integrated amp or receiver’s MAIN or POWER AMP IN jacks). Run one side between
the jack labelled "L" and the power amp’s Left INPUT. Run the other side between the jack labelled "R" and
the power amp's Right INPUT.
3. Run a stereo interconnect cable from the BASS OUTPUT jacks on the LP-1S to your Subwoofer’s
FROM PREAMP jacks. The jack labelled "L" feeds the Left INPUT jack and the jack labelled "R" feeds the
right FROM PREAMP jack.
If you have two Subwoofers, run a mono cable from the BASS OUTPUT jack labelled "L" on the LP-1S to
the Left Subwoofer's Left/Mono INPUT jack. Run another mono cable from the BASS OUTPUT jack labelled
"R" on the LP-1S to the Right Subwoofer's Left/Mono INPUT jack. You only need to use the Left/Mono
INPUT jack on each Subwoofer.

FINAL ADJUSTMENT OF YOUR SYSTEMFINAL ADJUSTMENT OF YOUR SYSTEM
FINAL ADJUSTMENT OF YOUR SYSTEM
FINAL ADJUSTMENT OF YOUR SYSTEMFINAL ADJUSTMENT OF YOUR SYSTEM
Final adjustment is a matter of setting the Subwoofer’s BASS LEVEL control so that both bass and treble
levels are balanced. The best method is to set the level by ear — and when your system sounds balanced
to fit your room and personal preferences, it is correct. In a few minutes, listening to familiar recordings,
you will be able to set the balance of your system so that it is very nearly perfect. If you pay close attention
in further listening sessions, making fine adjustments when you feel they are appropriate, you will soon have
the precise balance you want. Time spent experimenting is well invested in the achievement of an ideally
balanced system. See your Subwoofer owner's manual for more detailed information.

SETTING THE FILTER ADJUSTMENT ON YOUR SUBWOOFERSETTING THE FILTER ADJUSTMENT ON YOUR SUBWOOFER
When using the LP-1S, setting the FILTER adjustment on the back of your Subwoofer is very important.
As you adjust the BASS LEVEL control to match the Subwoofer and Satellite speakers, you also adjust the
FILTER control to match the speakers. The FILTER control will probably give you the best results when
set between 70 and 90 Hz. If you are not interested in experimenting, set the control at 85 Hz. Again, see
your Subwoofer owner's manual.
As you did above, listen carefully and make adjustments when they seem necessary. Set the FILTER
adjustment to the point where you hear a seamless blend between the Satellite speakers and the
Subwoofer.
