a. Antenna Support
Sleeves and Mast Sections.
CAUTION Do not attempt to cut the antenna support Sleeve and mast section tubes with the pipe cutter.
NOTE
As an optional procedure, the antenna

a guide cut
line around each tube 2.50 inches from the notched end. Cut each
tube using a hack saw.
Ensure
that each cut is made perpendicular to the antenna support sleeve and mast section to achieve a proper fit with the mating section. After cutting,
remove burrs and sharp edge
with a file.
NOTE
Ensure that the cut end
support sleeve and mast
of each antenna section is free
of any cracks.
(2) Inspect the tab on the
mast sections. Inspection will reveal
by
metal tabs
filing off the tabs with a
lower antenna support sleeve and one of two types of tabs. Remove the
metal
file. The punched-out tabs
require hammering back of the tabs. Tap the tab using a ballpeen hammer to just inside of the outer diamter of the lower antenna support sleeve or mast section.
4
NOTE
Take care when hammering the tabs not to punch them completely through, as this may
induce a stress area.
