The 1225LS allows you to convert 1000BASE-SX, MMF ports to 1000BASE-LX SMF
ports where and when you need them.

The device ships with one power supply, but it allows for installing an optional
redundant power supply for even greater integrity.

Diagnostic LEDs indicate whether there is power from one or both power supplies, if
there is a valid connection on the 1000BASE-SX port, and if there is a valid
connection on the 1000BASE-LX port.

Using an external box for adding SMF connections allows for purchasing less
expensive MMF port switches and NICs.

It is also a more cost-effective solution than GBIC connectors, which generally require
you to purchase the inserts from the switch vendor.
