,Please read the Warning and Safety instructions in the Operating Instructions for your washer-disinfector carefully. You should only process cannulae/medical products in this insert if they have been declared as suitable for machine processing by the manufacturer. Please also observe the manufacturer’s care instructions. The programme selected must be suitable for the materials from which the medical products to be processed are made. Where possible the programme should include thermal disinfection.

Areas of application:

The E 478 insert can be used to clean and disinfect narrow lumen cannulae, e.g. Sautter cannulae.

The filter plate prevents particles in the wash liquor from blocking the cannulae.

The E 478 insert can be fitted into units such as the E 440/2 mobile injector unit for opthalmic instruments.

^Screw the cannulae onto the Luer lock connectors.

^After processing, unscrew the cannulae, and force out any residual water using pressurised filtered air.

This also ensures that hollow instruments are free of blockages.

^At the same time, the pH value of displaced water can be checked using litmus paper (ß 0.5 grade)

If the result is negative:

^Remove the cause of any blockage manually. After that, even if the pH value is not neutral:

^Re-process hollow instruments.

If the pH value continues not to be neutral, contact the Service Department to arrange for further analysis of the problem.

Changing the filter plate

The filter plate needs to be changed approx. once a week. To do this:

^Unscrew the insert from the mobile injector unit.

^Unscrew the top and bottom sections of the insert.

^Remove silicone adapter a and filter plate b from the bottom section.

^Rinse out the bottom section of the insert, and fit a new filter plate b.

^Replace the silicone adapter a in the bottom section, and screw the top and bottom sections of the insert back together.

^Screw the insert back into the mobile injector unit.
