Caring for the environment
Disposal of the packing material
The transport and protective packing has been selected from materials which are environmentally friendly for disposal, and should be recycled.
Ensure that any plastic wrappings, bags etc. are disposed of safely and kept out of the reach of babies and young children. Danger of suffocation!
Disposal of your old appliance
Electrical and electronic appliances often contain materials which, if handled or disposed of incorrectly, could be potentially hazardous to human health and to the environment. They are, however, essential for the correct functioning of your appliance. Please do not therefore dispose of it with your household waste.
Please dispose of it at your local community waste collection / recycling centre or contact your dealer for advice. Ensure that it presents no danger to children while being stored for disposal.
Take care not to damage the pipework at the back of it before or during transportation to an authorised collection depot. In this way, refrigerant in the pipework and oil in the compressor will be contained, and will not leak out into the environment.

Warning and Safety instructions
Technical safety
Before setting up the appliance,
~
check it for any externally visible damage. Do not install and use a damaged appliance. It could be dangerous.
If the connection cable is faulty it
~
must only be replaced by a service technician authorised by the manufacturer to protect the user from danger.
This appliance contains the coolant
~
Isobutane (R600a), a natural gas which is environmentally friendly. Although it is flammable, it does not damage the ozone layer and does not increase the greenhouse effect. The use of this coolant has, however, led to a slight increase in the noise level of the appliance. In addition to the noise of the compressor, you might be able to hear the coolant flowing around the system. This is unavoidable, but does not have any adverse effect on the performance of the appliance. Care must be taken during the transportation and installation of the appliance that no parts of the cooling system are damaged. Leaking coolant can damage the eyes. In the event of any damage:
- avoid open flames and anything which creates a spark,
- disconnect from the mains,
- air the room in which the appliance is located for several minutes and
- contact the Service Department for advice.
The more coolant there is in an
~
appliance, the larger the room it should be installed in. In the event of a leakage, if the appliance is in a small room, there is the danger of combustible gases building up. For every8gofcoolant at least 1 m room space is required. The amount of coolant in the appliance is stated on the data plate inside the appliance.
Safe operation of the appliance is
~
only assured if it has been installed and connected in accordance with these operating and installation instructions.
Before connecting the appliance,
~
make sure that the connection data on the data plate (voltage and frequency) matches the mains electricity supply. This data must correspond in order to avoid the risk of damage to the appliance. Consult a qualified electrician if in any doubt.
Do not connect the appliance to the
~
mains electricity supply by a multi-socket adapter or an extension lead. These do not guarantee the required safety of the appliance (e.g. danger of overheating).

The electrical safety of this
~
appliance can only be guaranteed when it is correctly earthed. It is most important that this basic safety requirement is observed and tested regularly, and where there is any doubt, the household wiring system should be inspected by a qualified electrician. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage or injury caused by the lack of or inadequacy of an effective earthing system (e.g. electric shock).
Installation, maintenance and
~
repairs may only be carried out by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with current national and local safety regulations. Repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for unauthorised work.
While the appliance is under
~
guarantee, repairs should only be undertaken by a service technician authorised by the manufacturer. Otherwise the guarantee will be invalidated.
The appliance must be isolated from
~
the electricity supply during installation, maintenance and repair work.
Faulty components must only be
~
replaced by genuine Miele original spare parts. The manufacturer can only guarantee the safety of the appliance when Miele replacement parts are used.
The appliance must not be used in a
~
non-stationary location (e.g. on a ship).
In areas which may be subject to
~
infestation by cockroaches or other vermin, pay particular attention to keeping the appliance and its suroundings clean at all times. Any damage caused by cockroaches or other vermin will not be covered by the guarantee.

Warning and Safety instructions
Correct use
The appliance is designed for use
~
within certain climate ranges (ambient temperatures), and should not be used outside this range. The climate range for your appliance is stated on the data plate inside the appliance. Installing it in a room with too low an ambient temperature, e.g. a garage, can lead to the appliance switching off for longer periods so that it cannot maintain the required temperature.
Do not block the ventilation gaps in
~
the appliance as this would impair the efficiency of the appliance, increase the electricity consumption and could cause damage to the appliance.
The lid on the appliance has a
~
plastic edge. Keep oil and fat spills away from this as they could cause the plastic to crack and split.
Do not handle frozen food with wet
~
hands. Your hands may freeze to the frozen food. Danger of frost burn.
Do not take ice cubes out with your
~
bare hands and never place ice cubes or ice lollies in your mouth straight from the freezer. The very low temperature of the frozen ice or lollies can cause frost burn to the lips and tongue.
Do not refreeze partially or fully
~
defrosted food. Consume defrosted food as soon as possible, as it will lose its nutritional value and spoil if left for too long. Defrosted food may only be re-frozen after it has been cooked.
Do not store cans or bottles
~
containing carbonated drinks or liquids which could freeze in the freezer. The cans or bottles could explode. Danger of injury and damage to the appliance.
When cooling drinks quickly in the
~
freezer, make sure bottles are not left in for more than one hour, otherwise they could burst. Danger of injury and damage to the appliance.
Observe the "use by" dates given on
~
food to avoid the risk of food poisoning. Storage times will depend on several factors, including the freshness and quality of the food as well as the temperature at which it is stored. Follow the instructions given on food manufacturer's packaging regarding storage conditions and "use by" dates.
Do not store explosive materials in
~
the appliance or any products containing propellants (e.g. spray cans). Thermostats switching on may produce sparks which could present a fire hazard. Flammable compounds could explode.
10
Page 11
Warning and Safety instructions
Do not operate any electrical
~
equipment (e.g. an electric ice-cream maker) inside the appliance. Danger of sparking and explosion.
Do not use sharp edged objects to
~
remove frost and ice,
separate frozen foods or remove ice
trays.
They will damage the evaporator, causing irreversible damage to the appliance.
Do not place electric heaters or
~
candles in the appliance to defrost it. These can damage the plastic parts.
Do not use defrosting sprays or
~
de-icers, as they might contain substances which could damage the plastic parts or which could cause a build-up of gases and pose a danger to health.
Do not use a steam-cleaning
~
appliance to defrost or clean this appliance. Steam could reach electrical components and cause a short circuit.
Disposal of your old appliance
Before disposing of an old
~
appliance, first make the door latch or lock unusable. This way you will prevent children from accidentally locking themselves in and endangering their lives.
Be careful not to damage any part of
~
the pipework whilst awaiting disposal, e.g. by
puncturing the refrigerant channels
in the evaporator.
bending any pipework.
– scratching the surface coating.
Splashes of refrigerant can damage the eyes.
The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage caused by non-compliance with these Warning and Safety instructions.
Do not use any oils or grease on the
~
door seal, as these will cause the seal to deteriorate and become porous with time.

consumption
Only open the doors when necessary and for as short a time as possible.
Store food in an organised way.
Take a cool bag with you when shopping and on return place food into the appliance immediately.
Replace any food removed rapidly, before it begins to thaw.
Allow hot food and drinks to cool down before placing them in the appliance.
Store food covered or packaged.
Place frozen food in the refrigerator to defrost.
Opening doors frequently and for long periods results in loss of coolness and influx of warmer ambient air. The appliance works harder to cool down and the compressor runs for longer periods.
Hot food or food at room temperature raises the temperature inside the appliance. The appliance works harder to cool down and the compressor runs for longer periods.
The evaporation or condensation of liquids will cause a loss of coldness in the refrigerator.
Do not over-fill the appliance to allow air to circulate.
Defrosting Defrost the freezer section
when a layer of ice 0.5 cm (max.) thick has built up.
A build-up of ice slows down the cooling process.

The correct temperature
It is very important to set the correct temperature for storing food in the appliance. Micro-organisms will cause food which is not stored at the correct temperature to deteriorate rapidly. Temperature influences the growth rate of these micro-organisms. Reducing the temperature reduces their growth rate.
To freeze fresh food and to store frozen food for a long time, a temperature of
-18 °C is required. At this temperature the growth of micro-organisms is generally halted. As soon as the temperature rises above -10 °C, the micro-organisms become active in the food again so that it cannot be kept as long. For this reason, partially defrosted or defrosted food must not be re-frozen. Food may be re-frozen once it has been cooked, as the high temperatures achieved when cooking destroy most micro-organisms.
The temperature in the appliance will rise:
the more often the door is opened and the longer it is kept open,
if too much food is stored in it at once,
if too much fresh food is being frozen at once,
Setting the temperature
Press the temperature selector button
^
repeatedly until the temperature you want lights up in the display.
The first time you press the button the indicator light for the last temperature you set will flash in the display.
The temperature value will change up until the setting for -28 °C is reached. It will then drop back to the -14 °C setting.
Approx. 5 seconds after the last press on the button, the current actual temperature of the freezer is automatically shown.
If you have adjusted the temperature,
wait for approx. 6 hours if the appliance is not very full and for approx. 24 hours if the appliance is full before checking the temperature
display as it will take this long for the display to give an accurate reading. If, after this time, the temperature is still too high or too low, you will need to adjust it again.
the higher the ambient temperature surrounding the appliance. The appliance is designed for use in specific ambient temperatures (climate ranges). Do not use in ambient temperatures for which it is not designed.
18
Page 19
The correct temperature
Temperature range
The temperature can be adjusted from:
-14 °C to -28 °C
The ambient temperature in the room and the installation location can affect the time it takes for the appliance to reach the lowest temperature. If the ambient temperature is too high, the appliance may not reach the lowest temperature.
Temperature display
The temperature display on the control panel shows the temperature in the warmest part of the appliance.
The temperature display will flash if
the temperature in the appliance is
not within the possible temperature range, e.g. immediately after the appliance has been switched on.
a different temperature is being set,
the temperature in the appliance has
risen by several degrees, indicating that the appliance is warming up too much.
This loss of coldness is no cause for concern in the following circumstances:
– when the door has been left open for
a while, e.g. for removing or storing a large amount of food,
– when fresh food is being frozen.
As soon as the temperature has fallen to approx. -10 °C, the temperature display ceases to flash and lights up constantly.
However, if the temperature remains above -18 °C for a long time, check that the frozen food has not started to defrost. If it has, make sure that the food is safe to use and, if it is, then use it as soon as possible.
19
Page 20
Alarm
Your appliance has been fitted with a warning system which ensures that the temperature in the freezer cannot rise unnoticed.
Temperature alarm
If the temperature in the freezer becomes too warm, an alarm will sound. At the same time the temperature display and the Alarm symbol ; will flash.
The temperature the appliance is set at determines the temperature the appliance recognises as being too warm.
For example, the alarm may sound and the temperature display and the Alarm symbol ; may flash,
– when freezing large amounts of food
at once,
– when freezing fresh food which is still
warm,
if a lot of room air enters the freezer when food is being loaded, re-arranged or taken out,
Activating the alarm system
The alarm system works automatically once the temperature in the freezer is cold enough.
Switching the alarm off early
As soon as the temperature in the freezer has dropped sufficiently, the alarm switches off and the temperature display stops flashing and lights up constantly. However, if the noise disturbs you, you can switch the alarm off before this if you wish.
^ Press the alarm off button.
The alarm will stop. The temperature display will continue to flash until the set temperature has been reached. The display then stops flashing and lights up constantly. The alarm system is then ready should it be needed again.
in the event of a power cut,
if the appliance is faulty.
The alarm will stop and the indicators will go out as soon as the temperature has dropped down to the correct level again.
20
Page 21
Switch on Super freeze before putting fresh food into the freezer.
This helps food to freeze quickly and retain its nutrients, vitamins, flavours and appearance.
Super freeze
The compressor can switch on up to 8 minutes later. This is due to an built-in delay switch, which helps prolong the life of the appliance.
Super freeze is not necessary:
when placing food in the freezer that
is already frozen.
when freezing up to 1 kg fresh food
daily.
Switching on Super freeze
When freezing small quantities of food in the freezer, the Super freeze function should be switched on 6 hours
beforehand. When freezing the maximum load of food the Super
freeze function should be switched on 24 hours beforehand.
^
Press the Super freeze button briefly.
The Super freeze symbol ª will light up.
The appliance will work at full power to lower the temperature in the appliance.
Switching off Super freeze
The Super freeze function will switch off automatically after approx. 30 - 65 hours. The Super freeze symbol ª will go out and the appliance will run at normal power again.
To save energy the Super freeze function can be switched off once a constant temperature of -18°C or colder has been reached in the freezer. Check the temperature inside the appliance.
^ Press the Super freeze button.
The Super freeze symbol ª will go out.
The appliance will continue running at normal power.
21
Page 22
Freezing and storing food
Maximum freezing capacity
To ensure that fresh food placed in the freezer freezes through to the core as quickly as possible, the maximum freezing capacity must not be exceeded. The maximum freezing capacity for freezing within a 24-hour period is given on the data plate:
"Freezing capacity ....kg/24 hrs".
The maximum freezing capacity given on the data plate has been calculated according to DIN EN ISO 15502 Stan dard.
-
Freezing fresh food
Fresh food should be frozen as quickly as possible. This way the nutritional value of the food, its vitamin content, appearance and taste are not impaired.
Food which takes a long time to freeze will lose more water from its cells, which then shrink. During the defrosting process, only some of this water is reabsorbed by the cells; the rest collects around the food.
Storing frozen food
When buying frozen food to store in your freezer, check
that the packaging is not damaged,
the use-by date,
the temperature at which the frozen
food is being stored in the shop. The length of time it can be kept is reduced if it has been stored at a temperature warmer than -18 °C.
Buy frozen food once you have
^
finished the rest of your shopping, and wrap it in newspaper or use a cool bag or cool box to transport it.
^ Store it in the freezer as soon as
possible.
Never re-freeze partially or fully defrosted food. Consume defrosted food as soon as possible as it will lose its nutritional value and spoil if left for too long. Defrosted food may only be re-frozen after it has been cooked.
If food is frozen quickly, the cells have less time to lose moisture, so they shrink less. As there is not so much moisture loss, it is easier for the food to reabsorb it during the defrosting process, and very little water collects around the defrosted food.
22
Page 23
Freezing and storing food
Home freezing
Only freeze fresh food which is in a good condition.
Hints on home freezing
The following types of food are
suitable for freezing: Fresh meat, poultry, game, fish, vegetables, herbs, fresh fruit, dairy products, pastry, leftovers, egg yolks, egg whites and a range of pre-cooked meals.
The following types of food are not
suitable for freezing: Grapes, lettuce, radishes, sour cream, mayonnaise, eggs in their shells, onions, whole raw apples and pears.
– To retain colour, taste and vitamin C,
vegetables should be blanched after they have been trimmed and washed. To blanch: bring a large saucepan of water to the boil, immerse the vegetables in the fast boiling water for 2-3 minutes, depending on variety. Remove, and plunge into ice-cold water to cool quickly. Drain and pack ready for freezing.
Lean meat freezes better than fatty meat, and can be stored for considerably longer.
To prevent chops, steaks, cutlets or rolled meat from freezing together in solid blocks when packed, separate with a sheet of plastic freezer film.
Do not season fresh food or blanched vegetables before freezing. Only season cooked food lightly before freezing, but care
should be taken as the taste of some spices alters when frozen.
Do not place hot food or drinks in the
freezer. This causes already frozen food to thaw, and increases the energy consumption considerably. Allow hot food and drinks to cool down before placing them in the freezer.
Packaging
Freeze food in portions.
^
Unsuitable packaging material
- wrapping paper
- grease-proof paper
- cellophane
- bin bags
- plastic carrier bags
Suitable packaging material
- plastic freezer film
- freezer bags
- aluminium foil
- freezer containers
^
Expel as much air as possible from bags etc. before sealing them, to prevent freezer-burn on food.
^
Close the packaging tightly with
- rubber bands
- plastic clips
- string or bag ties
- freezer tape.
Freezer bags may also be sealed using home heat sealing kits.
^
Make a note of the contents and the date of freezing on the packaging.
23
Page 24
Freezing and storing food
Before placing food in the freezer
When freezing more than 1 kg of
^
fresh food, switch on the Super freeze function for some time before placing the food in the freezer (see "Super freeze").
This helps food that is already in the freezer to stay frozen.
Placing food in the freezer
The following maximum capacities must be observed: – freezer drawer = 25 kg – glass cold plate = 35 kg
Food to be frozen must on no account touch food which is already frozen to avoid partial thawing.
^ Make sure that the packaging and
containers are dry to prevent them sticking together when frozen.
Freezing the maximum amount
(see data plate)
Remove the lowest freezer drawer.
^
Place the food flat on the bottom of
^
the appliance or in contact with the interior side walls, so that it freezes through to the core as quickly as possible.
Once frozen:
Place the frozen food in the freezer
^
drawer and push it back in.
Large items
If you wish to freeze large items such as a turkey or game, the glass cold plates between the drawers can be removed.
^ Remove the freezer drawers and
carefully lift and slide out the glass cold plates.
– Freezing small portions
Place the food in the lower freezer drawers.
^
Place the food flat in the bottom of the drawers so that it freezes through to the core as quickly as possible.
24
Page 25
Defrosting
Frozen food can be defrosted in different ways:
in a microwave oven,
in an oven using the "Fan" or
"Defrost" setting,
at room temperature,
in the refrigerator (the cold given off
by the frozen food helps to keep the other food cold),
in a steam oven.
Poultry It is particularly important to observe food hygiene rules when defrosting poultry. Do not use the liquid from defrosted poultry. Pour it away and wash the container it was in, the sink and your hands. Danger of salmonella poisoning.
Ensure that meat and fish (e.g mince, chicken, fish fillets) do not come into contact with other foods while defrosting. Catch the liquid and dispose of it carefully.
Fruit should be defrosted at room temperature in its packaging, or in a covered bowl.
Most vegetables can be cooked while still frozen. Just put straight into boiling water or hot fat. The cooking time is slightly less than that of fresh vegetables due to changes in the cell structure.
Freezing and storing food
Never re-freeze partially or fully defrosted food. Consume defrosted food as soon as possible as it will lose its nutritional value and spoil if left for too long. Defrosted food may only be re-frozen after it has been cooked.
Ice cubes
(depending on model)
^ Fill the ice tray three quarters full with
water, and place it in the bottom of one of the drawers.
^ Once frozen, use a blunt instrument,
for example a spoon handle, to remove the ice tray from the freezer.
^
Ice cubes can be removed easily from the tray by twisting the tray gently or by holding it under cold running water for a short while.
Cooling drinks
Do not store cans or bottles containing carbonated drinks or liquids which could freeze in the freezer. The cans or bottles could explode.
When cooling non-carbonated drinks quickly in the freezer, make sure bottles are not left in for more than one hour, otherwise they could burst.
25

In normal use, ice and frost will form in the freezer, e.g. on the internal walls. How much ice and frost accumulates in the appliance will depend on the following:
whether the appliance door has
been opened frequently or left open for a while.
whether a large quantity of fresh food
has been placed in the freezer at once.
whether there has been an increase
in the humidity in the room.
Too thick a layer of ice will make it hard to remove freezer drawers, and in certain circumstances can prevent the door from closing properly. Too thick a layer of ice also reduces efficiency and increases energy consumption.
^ The freezer should be defrosted from
time to time. It must be defrosted if a layer of ice approx. 0.5 cm thick has accumulated.
Do not scrape off ice and frost and do not not use any sharp edged or pointed instruments to aid the defrosting process. This would damage the evaporator, causing irreversible damage to the appliance.
Before defrosting
Switch on the Super freeze function
^
at least 4 hours before defrosting to ensure frozen food retains its cold reserve for longer when taken out of the freezer.
^ Remove the frozen food from the
freezer and place it in a cool box, or wrap it in several layers of newspaper or cloths and store in a cool place until the freezer is ready for use again.
^ Remove all the freezer drawers and
glass cold plates from the freezer.
The best time to defrost the freezer is when:
there is very little food or no food left in the freezer,
the humidity level in the room is low and the ambient temperature in the room is also low.
26
Page 27
Defrosting
To defrost
Carry out the defrosting procedure as quickly as possible. The longer the food is left out at room temperature, the faster it defrosts.
Do not use a steam-cleaning appliance to aid the defrosting process. Steam could reach electrical components and cause a short circuit.
Never place electric heaters or candles etc. inside the appliance to defrost it. They will damage plastic parts.
Do not use defrosting sprays or de-icers as they might contain substances which could damage the plastic parts or which could cause a build-up of gases and pose a danger to health.
^
Switch the appliance off.
If the temperature display does not go out, then the lock is still activated.
Remove any loose pieces of ice.
^
Use a sponge or towel to soak up the
^
defrosted water, as often as necessary.
After defrosting
Clean the appliance and then dry it
^
thoroughly.
Close the appliance door.
^
Reconnect to the mains and switch
^
the appliance back on.
Switch on the Super freeze function
^
so that the appliance can cool down quickly.
^ Once the temperature in the freezer
is sufficiently low, slide the glass cold plates back into the freezer, then replace the food in the freezer drawers and put them back in the freezer.
^ When the temperature in the freezer
is a constant -18 °C or colder press the Super freeze button to switch the Super freeze function off.
^
Disconnect the appliance from the mains.
^
Leave the freezer door open.
To speed up defrosting, two bowls of hot water (not boiling), with plates underneath them, can be placed in the appliance. Closing the door in this instance will help retain the warmth and speed up the defrosting process.

Page 29
Cleaning and care
Appliance door, side panels
Remove any soiling from the appliance door and side panels im mediately. If this is not done, it might become impossible to remove and could cause the surface to alter or discolour.
All surfaces are susceptible to scratching. Contact with unsuitable cleaning agents can alter or discolour the surfaces.
^ The surfaces should be cleaned
using a solution of hot water and a little washing-up liquid applied with a soft sponge. They can also be cleaned with a damp microfibre cloth (without using any cleaning agent).
^ After cleaning, wipe with clean water
and dry with a soft cloth.
-
Ventilation gaps
^
The ventilation gaps should be cleaned regularly with a brush or vacuum cleaner. A build-up of dust will increase the energy consumption of the appliance.
Door seal
Do not use any oils or grease on the door seal as these will cause the seal to deteriorate and become porous over time.
The door seal should be cleaned regularly with clean water and then wiped dry with a soft cloth.
Back of appliance compressor and metal grille
The compressor and the metal grille at the back of the appliance (heat exchanger) must be dusted at least once a year. A build-up of dust will increase the energy consumption of the appliance.
Make sure that the cable and other components do not get broken off, bent or damaged in any way during cleaning.
After cleaning
^ Close the appliance door.
^ Reconnect to the mains and switch
the appliance back on.
^ Switch on the Super freeze function

Electrical connection
Electrical connection U.K.
All electrical work should be carried out by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with current local and national safety regulations (BS 7671 in the UK).
The appliance is supplied with a mains cable and moulded plug ready for connection to an a.c. single phase 220-240 V 50 Hz supply.
Please ensure that the connection data quoted on the data plate match the household mains supply.
Connection should be made via a suitable switched socket which is easily accessible. For extra safety it is advisable to protect the appliance with a suitable residual current device (RCD).
Do not connect the appliance to the mains electricity supply by an extension lead. Extension leads do not guarantee the required safety of the appliance (e.g. danger of overheating).
Non-rewireable plugs (BS 1363)
The fuse cover must be re-fitted when changing the fuse, and if the fuse cover is lost, the plug must not be used until a suitable replacement is obtained. The colour of the correct replacement cover is that of the coloured insert in the base of the plug, or the colour that is embossed in words in the base of the plug (as applicable to the design of the plug fitted).
Replacement fuses should be ASTA approved to BS 1362 and have the correct rating. Replacement fuses and fuse covers may be purchased from your local electrical supplier.
WARNING THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
This appliance must not be connected to the inverter of an autonomous power supply, e.g. a solar power system. When switching the appliance on, a surge in power could trigger the safety cut-out mechanism. This could damage the electronic unit.
The appliance must not be used with so-called energy saving devices. These reduce the energy supply to the appliance which could then become too warm. Using such devices could alter the specification of the product.
38
Page 39
Installation
Do not place any appliance which gives off heat, such as a toaster or microwave oven, on top of this appliance, as this would increase the appliance's energy consumption.
This appliance must not be installed directly next to another refrigerator or freezer. It does not have side-wall heating, so installation next to another refrigerator or freezer could cause a build-up of condensation between them. Further information is available from your dealer.
Location
This appliance should not be installed where it is exposed to direct sunlight or directly adjacent to a heat-producing appliance such as an oven or a radiator. The higher the ambient temperature of the room, the more energy the appliance requires to operate.
The appliance should be installed in a dry well ventilated room.
Important: tropical / humid environments
During periods of high humidity, some condensation may appear on outside surfaces of cooling appliances. This condensation will disappear when humidity levels drop. For prevention, it is advisable to install the appliance with sufficient ventilation in a dry and/or an air-conditioned room. Please ensure that doors are closing and sealing properly. Please ensure that the appliance is installed in accordance with these installation instructions and that the handle is fitted correctly. Should you require further assistance please contact your Miele customer service centre.
Climate range
The appliance is designed for use within certain climate ranges (ambient temperatures), and should not be used outside this range. The climate range of the appliance is stated on the data plate.

Ventilation
Air at the back of the appliance gets warm. To ensure sufficient ventilation, the ventilation gaps must not be covered or blocked in any way. They should be dusted on a regular basis.
Appliances with wall spacers supplied
Fitting the wall spacers supplied onto the back of the appliance assists in attaining lower energy consumption. Appliance depth without the wall spacers fitted is reduced by 35 mm. If the wall spacers are not used, this does not influence the functionality of the appliance. Energy consumption is only minimally increased if there is little distance between the appliance and the wall.
Installation
Two people are required to install the appliance. Only move the appliance when it is empty.
Do not remove the following from the
^
back of the appliance:
Depending on model, the bags
located between the back of the appliance and the metal grille (heat exchanger). They are important for the correct functioning of the appliance. The contents are harmless and do not contain toxic gases.
^ Remove the cable clip from the back
of the appliance.
^ Check that all parts at the back of the
appliance are unhindered. Carefully remove any hindrance.
^ Carefully push the appliance into

The appliance can be installed in a kitchen run. To match the height of the rest of the kitchen, the appliance can be fitted with a suitable top box a.
The ventilation cross-section of the
air outlet below the ceiling must be at least 300 cm
2
to ensure that air can
circulate without hinderance.
The compressor will operate more economically, the larger the ventilation cross-section. Otherwise the appliance has to work longer and harder, resulting in an increase in electricity consumption and also an increase in the operating temperature of the compressor, which can result in damage to the compressor.
The ventilation gaps must not be covered or blocked in any way. They should be dusted on a regular basis.
When built into a kitchen run (max. depth 580 mm) the appliance can be installed directly next to a kitchen furniture housing unit. The appliance door will protrude in front of furniture fronts at the sides by 69 mm* and by 90 mm* in the middle of the door. This enables the door to be opened and shut without being obstructed.
When installed next to a wall d a distance of approx. 50 mm must be maintained on the hinge side between the wall d and the appliance b,so that the door and the handle have sufficient space for opening.
A ventilation gap of at least 50 mm depth must be allowed for behind the appliance for air to circulate.
