Congratulations
Congratulations for choosing a
MIDO ® brand automatic watch, a Swiss brand
among the most renowned in the world.
With its 24 hour hand (4) which indicates a second time zone, and its builtin two-way rotating ring (7) bearing the name of the cities representing the world's 24 time zones, this automatic GMT model, is a genuine globe-trotter's watch.
Constructed with meticulous care from the finest materials and components, your watch is protected against impacts, variations in temperature, water and dust. To ensure perfect and accurate operation for many years, we advise you to closely follow the advice given in these instructions.
Technical specifications

with black fill.
Usage / Settings
Screwed crown
To further ensure its water resistance, your watch is equipped with two screwed crowns in the 2 and 4 o'clock positions. Before setting, these need to be unscrewed.
Important: After any adjustment, in order to preserve the water resistance of your watch, be sure to screw the crown used back in, first pressing it in, and then turning it forward as far as it will go.
Winding
Crown (7) in position
IB, unscrewed,
not pulled out Your watch has a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. Manual winding is required if you have not worn your watch for this length of time. To reactivate it, you need only turn the crown a few revolutions (forward) or swing your watch from side to side a few times. Around 32 revolutions of the crown (forward) are required to obtain the maximum power reserve. Whenever you wear your watch, the automatic mechanism winds it every time you move your wrist.
Note: On this automatic model, there is no end of winding stop.
Setting the time
Unscrew and pull out the crown (7) to position
III
with care; the second hand (3) will stop. Turn the crown forwards or backwards to set the desired time. Once the hour hand passes the 12 o'clock position, you can see if it is indicating midnight (the date changes at this point) or midday (the date does not change).
Advice on how to synchronise your watch
To synchronise the second hand (3) with an official time signal (radio/TV/ Internet), pull out the crown to position
III
; the second hand will stop. When you hear the audible signal, push the crown back into position I and screw it back in.
Rapid date correction Important: Never set the date between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. (the
movement will be changing the date).
Pull out the crown (7) to position II, and turn it forward until the desired date (6) is displayed. During this operation, your watch will continue to run normally, so you will not need to reset the time.
Second time zone and universal time
Principle
The 24 hour hand (4) indicates the time of a second time zone on the scale (6) of the dial. It completes a revolution in 24 hours.
The red arrow "T2" (5) on the dial indicates the time zone that the 24 hour hand is showing (4). Finally, the rotating ring (7) allows you to see the time in all the time zones in relation to the second time zone indicated by the 24 hour hand (4).
Example 1:
It is 11:07 in Paris, local time, and 16:07 in Novosibirsk, the second time zone (see fig. 1). To see the time in the other time zones:
- Position the 24 hour hand (4) to the 11 on the 24 hour scale,
- Turn the ring (7) so that the 24 hour hand (4) is pointing to Paris (in the centre of the zone).
The local time of each time zone will be instantaneously indicated by the number on the 24 hour scale (6) opposite the city concerned. For example it is 18:07 in Hong-Kong or 02:07 in Los Angeles (see fig. 2).
Example 2:
It is 11:07 in Paris, local time. If you need to change the time zone, for example on a trip to Hong-Kong, you can keep the Paris local time indicator using the 24 hour hand
(4)
, while having
the Hong-Kong local time displayed. To do this :
- Set your watch to Hong-Kong time, i.e. 18:07, as per fig. 1 (the 24 hour hand will follow in turn),
- Position the 24 hour hand
(4)
to Paris time using
the 24 hour scale
(6)
,
- Turn the ring
(7)
so as to position Paris
(the centre of the zone) opposite the red arrow
"T2"
which will thereby remind you that the
second time zone is Paris time (see fig. 3).
Care and maintenance
We would advise you to clean your watch regularly (except for the leather strap) using a soft cloth and lukewarm soapy water. After immersion in salty water, rinse it in fresh water and leave it to dry completely.
Do not leave it anywhere where it might be subjected to major variations in temperature or humidity, direct sunlight or strong magnetic fields.
For impeccable maintenance service and for the warranty to remain valid, always consult a MIDO ® approved dealer or agent.
The intricate finish mechanism of your MIDO ® watch will provide complete satisfaction for many years if you take care of it. However, we recommend you have your watch checked every 3 to 4 years by your MIDO ® approved dealer or agent.
