Installation of the Water Heater
Prior to the installation of the water heater, please contact the local gas company or the gas management department to select qualified gas pipe, pressure regulating valve, steel cylinder, clamp, smoke exhaust pipe and so on. You must entrust a qualified and specialized technician to install the gas water heater. (Note: The user cannot install the gas water heater himself/herself, since an improper installation can bring a great impact on the safety performance, or even threaten the user’s life.) Prior to the installation, please reconfirm whether the type of gas you are using agrees with the type of gas specified on the rating plate of the water heater.
This water heater is a flue gas water heater, which can be used only after all exhaust gases vented to the outdoors in strict accordance with the requirements. It is forbidden to use this water heater if the smoke exhaust pipe fails to be correctly installed according to the requirements in this manual.
Since each user has his/her own building structure, this company cannot provide a uniform smoke exhaust pipe. The user can purchase his/her proper smoke exhaust pipe based on his/her own building structure.
Installation Requirements
1. Do not install the water heater in bathrooms;
2. Do not install the water heater in a place where there is strong wind, otherwise the flame of the water heater will be blown out or an incomplete combustion will occur.
3. Do not install the water heater in the outdoors.
4. Do not install the water heater in a confined room. Install it in a well-ventilated room with a volume more than
7.5 m³. There should be an air inlet with an area more than 0.06connected to the outdoors. A smoke exhaust pipe must be also installed.
5. Install the water heater in a place where the line of sight and the viewport are at the same level, that is,
1.55~1.65m above the ground, and where the water heater is distant from combustibles.
6. Do not place any electric open wire, electric appliance or gas pipeline above the installation site of the water heater. Keep a horizontal distance more than 40cm between the water heater and electric appliances. Do not install any gas appliance such as the gas oven and the gas range underneath the water heater.
7. Keep a distance greater than 150mm between the water heater and the surrounding walls and the ceiling. Build the installation site with noncombustible materials. Otherwise, insulate the water heater with a heat insulating panel. The distance between the insulating panel and the surrounding walls should be greater than 10mm.
8. Install an inlet valve in the water inlet pipe of the water heater.
9. Place the vent of the smoke exhaust pipe in the outdoors.

Installation Modes
1. Keep the water heater vertical and not inclined during the installation. As shown in the right diagram, drill installation holes on the wall. Knock the expansion screws into the installation holes on the top for fixing, and insert the plastic plugs into the installation holes at the bottom. After mounting the water heater, place the gaskets and nuts into the expansion screws and screw up the nuts. Screw on the tapping screw at the bottom. The user can choose any installation mode from A and B installation modes according to the actual situation of each model.
2. Cautions for the Installation of the Smoke Exhaust Pipe:
a. The water heater must be installed with a smoke exhaust
pipe during the use. For the dimensions of the smoke exhaust pipe, see the Technical Performance Parameter List. The pipe should be installed according to the requirements in this manual.
b. Determine the length of the corrugated tube as needed,
but the total height of the tube should be greater than 2m, the horizontal length no more than 3m, the elbows no more than 2 and the angles no less than 90° so as to reduce the smoke exhaust resistance.
c. Fasten the corrugated tube and the smoke vent of the
water heater with clamps to prevent exhaust gases being vented to the indoors.
d. Make the flue pipe inclined 3° outward and downward to
facilitate the outflow of condensate water.
e. Blanket the flue pipe with heat-insulating and fire
retardant materials whose thickness must be greater than 20mm when the flue pipe passes through the wall made up of combustible materials.
f. Try not to hide the flue pipe inside the ceiling. Wrap up
the flue pipe with heat-insulating materials whose thickness is greater than 20mm if it is inevitable. Keep a distance greater than 150mm between the flue pipe and the combustibles such as the ceiling and the furniture.
g. For maintenance, do not use cement to fill the clearance
between the flue pipe and the round hole on the wall through which the flue pipe threads.
3. Installation of the Smoke Exhaust Pipe
a. Open a hole with its diameter slightly greater than that of
the smoke exhaust pipe in place near the water heater to easily put the horizontal smoke exhaust pipe through the hole. Extend the smoke exhaust pipe outside the room and make the outdoor terminal slightly inclined downward.
b. Set the air vent at a higher position with its minimum
height no less than the height of the water heater.
c. Set the air intake at a lower position to prevent the
outdoor air from directly entering the combustion chamber.
d. Install a wind resistant cap firmly.

Using Methods
Preparations before Ignition
1. During the initial use of the water heater, open the battery case and put in two D batteries according to the correct battery polarity.
2. Switch the water inlet valve to the maximum and switch on the hot water outlet valve to check whether there is water flowing out.
3. Then, switch off the hot water outlet valve and fully open the main gas valve.
Ignition/Operation
1. Ignition: After the preparation work, open the hot water outlet valve, and the water heater will make a “poop” sound, and then the hot water will immediately flow out. If the water heater cannot be ignited for one time, switch off the hot water outlet valve at once and restart it after 10-20 seconds. (Note: For some models, adjust the Hot/Cold Water switch to the hot water mode before ignition.)
2. Outlet water temperature regulation: Switch the firepower regulation knob to “Max” or switch the water temperature regulation knob to “High”, the outlet water temperature can be increased; switch the firepower regulation knob to “Min” or switch the water temperature regulation knob to “Low”, the outlet water temperature can be decreased.
3. When the firepower regulation knob is switched to “Min” and the water temperature regulation knob is switched to “Low”, if the outlet temperature is still high, then switch the season change knob to the “Summer-Autumn” position. On the contrary, when the firepower regulation knob is switched to “Max” and the water temperature regulation knob is switched to “High”, if the outlet temperature is still low, then switch the season change knob to the “Winter-Spring” position.

1. Switch off the hot water outlet valve and the water heater will automatically shut down.
2. Switch off the water inlet valve.
3. Switch off the main gas valve.
Replacing Batteries
1. If the time interval of the “poop” sound during ignition is a little long (twice a second), or the fire is soon extinguished after ignition, change the batteries immediately.
2. Use sealed damp-proof iron clad batteries. Normally, change the batteries every half a year.
Caution:
Prevention of Gas Accident
1. Determine the type of gas. Make sure the type of gas you are using agrees with the type of gas specified in the rating plate of the water heater. Do not disassemble the water heater without authorization and use a different type of gas by force.
2. Check whether the combustor is extinguished after the use and remember to shut off the main gas valve.
3. Frequently check whether there is a gas leak in the connectors and the gas line. Normally, change the rubber hoses once a year.
4. For LP gas users, if the flame of the water heater is detected floating, the pressure relief valve connected to the vent of the gas cylinder may fail to work properly. Then stop using the pressure relief valve and replace a qualified one instead.
5. For pipeline gas users or natural gas users, if the gas flame is detected abnormal (caused by unstable pipeline gas pressure), suspend using the water heater. The forced use may damage the water heater or even cause an accident.
6. If a gas leak is detected, do not ignite the water heater or switch on any electrical appliance. Open all doors and windows to automatically vent the gas to the outdoors. Stop using the water heater and contact the maintenance department or the gas company.
7. It is forbidden to operate the water heater with any failure. Contact our maintenance department timely once any failure occurs.
8. This water heater is only used for the hot water supply and shower. Do not use it for any other purpose.
Warning: This Company will be not liable for any accidents caused by unauthorized dismantling of this water heater or failure to comply with the installation and operating instructions outlined in this manual.
Special Attention: When the hot water is used again after suspended for a while, do not wash your body with the hot water at the very beginning. That is because when the hot water is suspended for a while, the water temperature of the water heater will become very high. The hot water can be used only a few seconds after the hot water flows out to avoid scalding.

Prevention of Fire
1. Absolutely do not go out or go to bed with the water heater on.
2. Do not place any combustibles near the draft hood of the water heater. Do not use towel, clothes and other things to cover the vent.
Prevention of Carbon Monoxide Poison
1. A large amount of oxygen is needed when the water heater is used. Therefore, the site where the water heater is installed must have enough air for supplement and be well-ventilated. The room where the water heater is installed must have a fixed open air intake. The closed doors and windows cannot be classified as effective air intakes.
2. A large amount of exhaust gases will be vented when the water heater is used. Therefore, the water heater must be installed with a smoke exhaust pipe to vent the exhaust gases produced during burning to the outdoors.
3. When the manufactured gases or natural gases are used, if the gas supply pressure is too low, there may result in tempering, hence affecting the normal operation of the water heater. At this point, the flame will turn from blue to yellow and the discharge of Carbon Monoxide will increase significantly. Stop using the water heater at once.
Other cautions:
1. Non-potable: Since there is water stored in the water heater for a long time, the hot water provided by the water heater is not potable, just used as non-potable water.
2. Freezing prevention: When the water heater is used in cold areas where the ambient temperature is below 0
°C
, the water stored in the water heater must be drained to prevent the water heater is damaged, since the water will expand when it freezes. The water can be drained as follows:
a. Switch the water temperature regulation knob to
“Low” after shutting off the water inlet valve.
b. Switch on the hot water outlet valve.
c. Screw off the drain valve. After draining the water,
screw on it and shut off the hot water outlet valve. Since there is a rubber gasket in the drain valve, screw it with great force.
3. During ignition, it is strictly forbidden to observe the ignition with the eyes closely near the viewport. The distance between the eyes and the viewport should be at least 300mm.
4. When the water heater is not used for a long period of time, take the dry batteries out from the battery case to prevent the battery case from corrosion due to the damage to the batteries, hence leading to poor contact and affecting the use of the water heater.
There must be a
fixed open air intake.

Treatment of Abnormalities
When abnormalities are detected such as a gas leak, abnormal combustion (such as tempering, flame lifting, yellow smoke or black smoke emission), peculiar smell and abnormal sound, or other emergent situations, immediately shut off the gas valve and contact the maintenance department or the gas company for treatment.
Maintenance
1. Frequently check whether the Gas Intake Pipe (rubber hose) is in good condition and whether there is aging or any flaw. Regularly change the rubber hose and frequently use the soapy water to determine whether there is a gas leak by checking whether there are bubbles at the pipeline connectors.
2. After the water heater is used for a period of time (generally about half a year), it is necessary to check and clean the water heater to ensure it operating normally. Frequently observe the burning conditions of the flame. When the flame turns form blue to yellow and there arises black smoke, contact the technician in time for cleaning.
3. Frequently use soft cleaning cloth to wipe the hull of the water heater with clean water or neutral detergent rather than chemical detergent or volatile solvent. Otherwise, the color of the hull will fade away and tarnish.
4. Regularly clean the water intake filter of the water heater.
5. When the water heater is not used for a long period of time, screw off the drain valve and drain the excess water in the water heater to avoid any damage to the water heater according to the Other Cautions.
Repairing Services
1. The water heater must be regularly checked and cleaned by the professional personnel.
2. Non-professional personnel cannot open the front cover of the water heater.

Root Causes and Corrective Actions
The room temperature is too low, so the exhaust gas is condensed into white fog when meeting the outdoor cold air.
When the hot water is in low flow (below the start-up water pressure), the water heater blows out and hot water becomes cold. Therefore, do not leave the hot water in low flow.
When the supply water temperature is too low and the water volume control knob is switched to the large mode, the heating capacity of the water heater may be insufficient. At this point, please switch the season change knob to the “Winter-Spring” mode or lower the water flow appropriately.
When the supply water temperature is too high, the temperature is set low and the hot water faucet is turned down, the outlet hot water temperature may be too high. At this point, please switch the season change knob to the “Summer-Autumn” mode or increase the water flow appropriately.
In case of the lack of oxygen, some models have the 20-minute timing protection function, that is, after a 20-minute continuous use of the water heater, the water heater will automatically extinguish. Please turn off the hot water faucet and use the water heater after a while.
