1. Introduction
1.1. General Description
The print system MICROPLEX iF60C is a color continuous printer based on inkjet technology using 5 ink cartridges (C, M, Y, K, K). A five channel printhead with 70400 nozzles is used to process the water based dye inks; the printhead width is 8.77 inch. The maximum print resolution is 1600 x 800 dots per inch; 1600 dpi is corresponding to about 63 pixels per mm.
The print speed is up to 60 pages (A4) per minute.
Exclusively continuous media and fanfold media with sprocket holes can be used for the tractor guiding. The media thickness has to be within the allowed range from 0.13 mm to 0.33 mm. The maximum material width is 9.5 inches, the printable width is 8.77 inches. For this print system a stacker is available as an option.
The accurate and safe tractor feeding enables you to use different paper types and label materials with a weight from 80 to 180 g/m². The integrated cutter can be used for automatic job separation.
This print system is suitable for full color label production on demand with variable data. The device allows to print color labels for multiple applications using batch printing.

2.1. Check List
First, place the printer and the accessories onto a level surface until the definitive location is chosen.
Please make sure that all items are included and that there are no defects. Immediately inform your supplier of any damage.
Open the cardboard box carefully and check the contents:
1. Printer MICROPLEX iF60C
2. Printhead
3. Five ink cartridges (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, Black)
4. Power cord
5. USB cable

2.2. Printer Installation (Environment and Power Standards)
!
!
- The chosen location should be dust-free and well ventilated.
- Damaging environmental factors such as metal vapors, organic gas (for example ammonia), oil mist, corroding lixivium or the like must not come in contact with the printer.
- Position the printer on solid and level ground.
- Do not expose the printer to shocks or vibrations.
- The printer should not be located near volatile or combustible materials (e.g. a curtain).
- Before operating the device the printer has to be levelled exactly.
The printer’s first installation has to be done by a trained service engineer.
- The printer must always remain levelled — every moving of the printer causes the necessity of new levelling .
- Avoid locating the printer close to an air current ( e.g. ventilators) and care for no exhaust gas from the machine is directly applied to humans.
- The printer should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
- Do not expose the printer to abrupt temperature changes.
- In order to run the printer reliably, please maintain the following environmental conditions:
Temperature: +15°C to +25°C (59°F to 77°F) with temperature variation not exceeding 10°C per hour. Relative humidity: 35% to 70% operating with humidity variation not exceeding 20% per hour.
After moving the printer allow all components of the device and the consumables to reach the new environmental conditions.

Power standards
:
- Please connect the power plug to 100 - 240 V AC, 50/60 Hz
- The power source must be properly grounded.
- The socket and power cords must not be damaged.
- The effective power input is appr. 155 W.
- Use the printer only within the allowable fluctuation range +
10%
of the power voltage.
Do not open any door or cover of the printer while the device is printing. During print operations it is not allowed to turn OFF the main switch. Open and close the inner clamshell only when necessary. Please switch off your printer immediately and unplug the power cord from the wall socket if you see smoke rising from your printer. The same steps are necessary, of course, if you notice an acrid smell coming from your printer or if you see any sparks being emitted from your printer. Please keep the printer powered off in times when you are not using it. If the printer will not be used over an extended period of time (e.g. a couple of weeks), the printhead has to be uninstalled and the two revolver caps should be installed in the printer (to reach conditions compareable to the time before first installation). Afterwards, please turn off the printer.
Please note:
The uninstalled printhead should be placed back to its protective cover immediately. Well-sealed in its original package the printhead will be kept moist and this will prevent the printhead from nozzle blocking.
Do not switch off the printer if any of your ink tanks has been removed. Failure to do so may cause ink delivery problems in your printer.
Moving: If you need to transport the printer over a long distance, please consult your service engineer. (Compare chapter 7 Measures for Transport and Shipping.)

3. Handling of Consumables
!
General Hints:
Do not store consumables (ink, printhead, media, etc.) in a place where
a. they are exposed to direct sunlight. b. they are exposed to a heat source or flame. c. they are exposed to excessive humidity. d. they are exposed to excessive dust.
Only use consumables exclusively prepared for this printer. NEVER use any other ink. Keep away all consumables (especially the ink cartridges) from babies or little children. When your hands are stained with ink, first flush with cold water and then clean your hands with soap and rinse water. Do not remove the printhead from the package until you are ready to use it. Do not expose printheads to air directly for more than 1 minute; please keep it installed in the printer or in the head cap. In addition, do not keep the inner clamshell opened for more than 1 minute. (When the inner clamshell is opened, the printhead is exposed to air.) Do not touch any fluidic coupling, the nozzle plate and the printing side of the printhead with your fingers or any object which may damage the sophisticated structures of this parts of the printer. Do not remove consumables unless replacing them. Printheads and ink cartridges should remain in the printer once installed. Their removal and reinsertion is not recommended unless replacement is necessary.

3.1. Media Requirements
Use only appropriate paper. Inappropriate paper may cause damage to your printer. In particular, you should not use: transparencies, kinked or curled paper, paper which is too thick and paper with any staples or pins in it.
2
Paper weight: 80 - 180 g/m
Paper thickness: 0.13 mm - 0.33 mm
Paper size: Width: 4 to 9.5 inches (appr.102 to 241 mm),
8.77 inches printable (compare chapter 8 Specifications) Length: min. 4 inches (appr. 102 mm)
Unclear printouts (some parts unable to print) may be caused by dusty media or a stained print head. Therefore when printing, it’s necessary to keep all printer covers closed. Also, check and prevent media from being stained or dusty to ensure print quality and to prolong the print head life. In addition please often check the paper clearing sheet (see section
5.1 Tearing Paper Cleaning Sheet).
Clear paper jams promptly. See section 6.3.
Keep the paper path always clean to avoid printing problems, compare chapter 6 Troubleshooting.

5. Operator Maintenance
By a regular and conscientious performance of the following operations, the printer is guaranteed to always work at an optimum reliability.
5.1. Tearing Paper Cleaning Sheet
!
Unclear printouts (some parts unable to print) may be caused by dusty media or a stained print head. Therefore when printing, it’s necessary to keep all printer covers closed. The printer is equipped with a paper cleaning sheet roll. It is very important to often check and renew the paper cleaning sheet (see the following working steps). Nevertheless it is always necessary to prevent media from being stained or dusty to ensure print quality and to prolong the print head life.
1. Open the top cover of printer.
