The A50 is a Dual SIM mobile phone allowing you to use the facility of two networks.
Note: Dual SIM (WCDMA/GSM + WCDMA/GSM) Only one SIM can use 3G services at a time.
1. Switch off the mobile phone and remove the rear cover and battery.
2. Insert the SIM card correctly in the card slot(s)(See figure below)

1. Power off the mobile phone, then remove the rear cover and battery.
2. Insert the memory card into the slot.
3. Finally insert the battery and the rear cover of the mobile phone.
Use only compatible memory cards approved by Micromax for use with this device. Incompatible memory cards may damage the card or the device and corrupt the data stored in the card.

You can charge your battery using the charger or the USB cable supplied with this phone.

Touch the Launcher icon to open the Launcher and view all your applications.
The status bar shows the time, signal strength, battery status, and other information. It also displays notification icons.

When you sign in, the home screen opens.
The Home screen is your starting point to access all the
features on your phone. It displays application icons, widgets, shortcuts, and other features.
At the top of the screen, the Status bar displays the time, status,
and notifications.
Touch the Launcher icon at the bottom of the screen to view
all installed applications.

If you do not use the phone for a while, the Home screen or other screen is replaced with a locked screen and the screen darkens to conserve the battery.
1. Press the power key.
2. Drag the screen to unlock according to the arrow direction on the screen.
Based on your locking method, you may need to draw an unlock pattern or enter a PIN or password to unlock.
Tap Settings> Security> Set up screen lock to set your type of screen lock.

You can access the features using your finger to touch the icons, buttons, menu items, onscreen keyboard, and other items on the touch screen.
Touch: Acts on items on the screen, such as application and
settings icons, to type letters and symbols using the onscreen keyboard, or to press onscreen buttons.
Touch and hold: Touch and hold an item on the screen until an
action occurs. For example, to open a menu for customizing the Home screen, you can touch an empty area on the Home screen until the menu opens.
Drag: Touch and hold an item and move your finger on the
screen until you reach the target position.
Swipe or slide: Quickly slide your finger across the surface of
the screen, (without dragging an item). For example, slide the screen up or down to scroll a list, and in some Calendar views swipe quickly across the screen to change the range of time visible.
Double-tap: Tap quickly twice on a webpage, map, or other
screen to zoom. For example, double-tap a section of a webpage in Browser to zoom that section to fit the width o f the screen. You can also double-tap to control the Camera zoom, In Maps, and in other applications.
Pinch: In some applications (Such as Maps, Browser, and
Gallery) you can zoom in and out by placing two fingers on the screen at once and pinching them together (to zoom out) or spreading them apart (to zoom in).
Rotate the screen: On most screens, the orientation of the

A widget acts as a shortcut to preview or open an application. You can paste the widget on the desktop as icons or preview windows. Press and hold any icon on the main menu to place it on a widget for easier access.

1. Touch the phone icon on the Home screen or touch the Phone tab from Contacts or the Call log.
2. Touch the keys on the phone tab to enter the phone number. If you enter a wrong number, touch to erase the digits one by one. To erase entire number, touch & hold icon.

enter the Plus (+) symbol, then enter the international prefix or the country, followed by the full phone number.
Touch the phone icon to dial the number that you
entered.
You can switch applications during a callfor example, to look up contacts. The green phone icon appears in the status bar while the call is underway.

Some locations may require you to turn off your phone’s mobile,
Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth wireless connections. You can turn off all these wireless connections at once by placing your phone in Airplane mode.

When a call is in progress, you can put it on hold, initiate a phone conference, mute your microphone etc.

If you accept a new call when you are already on a call, you can switch between the two callers or merge the two calls into a conference call.
1. Place a call to the first participant
2. When you are connected, touch the Add call icon, the first participant is put on hold and you are prompted to dial the second caller.
3. Place the next call, using the phone tab, the Call log, or your contacts.
4. When you are connected, touch Merge calls. The participant is added to the conference call.

You can browse the Internet from the comfort of your A50 Mobile phone while on the go. The A50 phone features the Google chrome browser to let you access the Internet.
Touch the browser icon at the launcher or the menu to access the Internet.
In case you are not able to access the Internet, configure your Internet:

1. Go to Menu> settings> wireless & networks and then enable Wi-Fi.

Notification icons inform the arrival of new messages, ongoing events, such as when music player is on or the current call status.
When you receive a notification, its icon appears in the status bar, along with a summary that appears only briefly.
Applications such as Gmail have their own settings, with options to configure notifications, such as ringtone, vibration and so on.

Drag the status bar down from the top of the screen. The Notifications panel displays your wireless provider and a
list of your current notifications.

The call log is a list of all the calls you have dialed, received, or missed. It offers a convenient way to redial a number, return a call, or add a number to your Contacts.

Wallpapers are images from Gallery (pictures you shot with Camera, other images, and so on), still images included with the system, and live images (such as an animation or a map that centers on your location). They take the place of the default background for your Home screens.

The Launcher, holds icons for all of the applications on your phone, including any application that you downloaded from Android Market or other sources.

You can add applications, shortcuts, widgets, and other items to any part of the Home screen or change the wallpaper.

2. Touch the + sign Or just touch and hold an empty location on
the Home screen.

5. Press and hold the empty area of the new home screen. A
new menu for adding the following pops up.
Shortcuts: Add shortcuts to applications, a bookmarked
webpage, a favorite contact, a destination in Maps, a music
play list, etc. The shortcuts available depends on the
applications you have installed.
Widgets: Add any applications (widgets) to your Home screen,
Including clock, music player, picture frame, Google search bar,
Power manager, News & weather widget. You can also
download widgets from Android Market.
Folder: Add a folder where you can organize Home screen
items, or folders that contain all your contacts, contacts with
phone number, or starred contacts. Your folder’s contents are
kept up to date automatically.
Wallpapers: You can add wallpapers using this option.

You can send text message of up to 160 characters to another mobile phone. If you keep typing after the limit, your message is delivered as a series of messages.
A Message automatically converts into an MMS if you send it to an email address, add a subject, or media file.

Your camera’s pictures and videos are stored in the SD card, so you must insert one to use the Camera. You can copy pictures and videos from the SD card to a PC and vice versa. You can share pictures and videos from the Gallery.

The Calendar app lets you view and edit your schedules. Using an existing Google Account, the first time you open the
Calendar application, it displays any existing calendar events from that Google Account on the web. As you edit events from any device or web browser, they are synchronized automatically across all the places you need them.

2. To change the Calendar view, touch the date at the top and
choose Day, Week, Month, or Agenda.

If you and your wireless service provider determine that you need to change the settings of your current access point name (APN) or to create a new one, you must obtain the APN and detailed settings from your provider.
1. Touch > Settings > W ireless & networks > Mobile networks>Access point names.
2. Touch an existing APN to edit it, or press key and touch New APN. Enter the APN settings that you obtained from
your wireless service provider.
3. When you are finished, press Menu and then Save.
4. If you created a new APN, touch it in the APNs screen to start using it.
