1. Introduction
1.1. Features
The blood-pressure monitor is a fully automatic, digital blood-pressure
measuring device for use on the wrist, which enables very fast and reliable
measurement of the systolic and diastolic blood-pressure as well as the pulse
frequency by way of the oscillometric method of measuring.
Blood pressure measurements determined with this device are equivalent to
those obtained by a trainer observer using the cuff/stethoscope auscultation
method, within the limits prescribed by the American National Standard.
The device is validated against Korotkoff phase 5.
This device is easy to use and is proven in clinical studies to provide excellent
accuracy.
Before using, please read through this instruction manual carefully and then
keep it in a safe place. For further questions on the subject of blood-pressure
and its measurement, please contact your doctor.
Attention!
1.2. Important information about self-measurement
• Self-measurement means Control, not diagnosis or treatment. Your
values must always be discussed with your doctor. You should never
alter the dosages of any medication without direction from your doctor.
• Clinical trials have shown that wrist measurements can reach similar
accuracy to upper arm measurements. However, some individuals may
get a different result between both methods. Therefore, we generally
recommend to compare the readings of this device to data obtained by
your doctor. If there is a difference, always consider the variance into
your final reading.
• The pulse display is not suitable for checking the frequency of heart
pacemakers!
• If you have been diagnosed with a severe Arrhythmia or irregular
heartbeat, measurements made with this instrument should only be
evaluated after consultation with the doctor.
2
Electromagnetic interference
The device contains sensitive electronic components. Avoid strong electrical
or electromagnetic fields in the direct vicinity of the device (e.g. mobile
telephones, microwave ovens. Electrical interference can lead to temporary
impairment of the measuring accuracy).
2. Important information on the subject of blood-pressure and its
measurement
2.1. How does high/low blood-pressure arise?
Your blood pressure level is determined in the circulatory center of your brain.
Your nervous system allows your body to adapt or alter blood pressure in
response to different situations. Your body alters your pulse and the width of
blood vessels through changes in muscles in the walls of blood vessels.
Your blood pressure reading is highest when your heart pumps or ejects
blood. This stage is called your Systolic Blood Pressure.
Your blood pressure is lowest when the heart rests. (in-between beats) This is
called your diastolic blood pressure. It is critical to maintain blood pressure
values within a «normal» range(s) in order to prevent particular diseases.
2.2 Which values are normal?
Blood pressure is too high if at rest, the diastolic pressure is above 90mmHg
and/or the systolic blood-pressure is over 140mmHg.If you obtain readings in
this range, consult your doctor immediately. High blood pressure values over
time damage blood vessels, vital organs such as the kidney and even your
heart.
With blood-pressure values that are too low, i.e. systolic values under
105mmHg and/or diastolic values under 60mmHg, likewise, please consult
your doctor.
Even with normal blood-pressure values, a regular self-check with your bloodpressure monitor is recommended. In this way you can detect possible
changes in your values early and react appropriately.
3
If you are undergoing medical treatment to control your blood pressure,
please keep a record of the level of your blood pressure by carrying out
regular self-measurements at specific times of the day. Show these values to
your doctor.

2.3. What can be done, if regular increased/low values are
obtained?
a) Please consult your doctor.
b) Increased blood-pressure values (various forms of hypertension) are
associated long- and medium term with considerable risks to health. This
concerns the arterial blood vessels of your body, which are endangered due
to constriction caused by deposits in the vessel walls (Arteriosclerosis). A
deficient supply of blood to important organs (heart, brain, muscles) can be
the result. Furthermore, with long-term continuously increased bloodpressure values, the heart will become structurally damaged.
c) There are many different causes of the appearance of high blood
pressure. We differentiate between the common primary (essential)
hypertension, and secondary hypertension. The latter group can be
ascribed to specific organic malfunctions. Please consult your doctor for
information about the possible origins of your own increased blood
pressure values.
d) There are lifestyle changes you can make to prevent and reduce high blood
pressure. These measures must be part of a healthy lifestyle and include:
A) Eating habits
• Maintain a normal weight as prescribed by your doctor.
• Avoid excessive consumption of common salt. Please note many
«packaged foods» contain high levels of salt.
• Avoid fatty foods. (Packaged foods are frequently high in fats)
B) Previous illnesses
• Consistently follow any medical instructions for treating previous illness
such as:
• Diabetes (Diabetes mellitus)
• Fat metabolism disorder
• Gout
C) Habits
• Eliminate smoking
• Drink only moderate amounts of alcohol
• Restrict your caffeine consumption (Coffee, tea, chocolate, etc.)
5
D) Physical constitution:
• After a preliminary medical examination, exercise regularly.
• Choose sports which require endurance and avoid those which require
strength.
• Avoid reaching the limit of your performance.
• With previous illnesses and/or an age of over 40 years, please consult
your doctor before beginning your sporting routine. Your physician will
help you develop an exercise routine that is appropriate for you.
2.4. MAM technology (Microlife Average Mode)
• «MAM Technology» is a new type of concept for optimum reliability in
self-measurement of blood pressure.
• An advanced measurement accuracy is achieved by the automatic
analysis of three successive measurements.
• The new system provides reliable values for the doctor and can be used
as the basis for reliable diagnostics and medication therapy for high
blood pressure.
A) Why MAM?
• Human blood pressure is not stable
• Scattering of devices
B) Key advantages
Reduction of:
• Device scattering
• Insufficient rest prior to measurement
• Movement artefacts
• Cuff positioning influences
C) Medical benefits
• Improved accuracy
• Reliable patient self-measurement data for the doctor
• Safe hypertension diagnostic
• Reliable therapy control
6
D) Measurement sequence
• With the full measurement cycles, the total measurement time remains less
than 3 minutes, compared to a single measurement time of 1.5 minute.
• Single results are not displayed.
• Due to the «Data Analysis» result, a 4th measurement may be applied.

the desired value respectively.
5. CARRYING OUT A MEASUREMENT
5.1. Before the measurement
• Avoid eating, smoking as well as all forms of exertion directly before the
measurement. All these factors influence the measurement result. Try
and find time to relax by sitting in an armchair in a quite atmosphere for
about 5 minutes before the measurement.
• Measure always on the same wrist (normally left).
• Attempt to carry out the measurements regularly at the same time of
day, since the blood-pressure changes during the course of the day.
12
5.2. Common sources of error
Note: Comparable blood-pressure measurements always require the same
conditions! These are normally always quiet conditions.
• All efforts by the patient to support the arm can increase the blood-
pressure. Make sure you are in a comfortable, relaxed position and do
not activate any of the muscles in the measurement arm during the
measurement. Use a cushion for support if necessary.
• If the wrist artery lies considerably lower (higher) than the heart, an
erroneously higher (lower) blood-pressure will be measured! (Each 15cm
difference in height results in a measurement error of10mmHg!)
• A loose cuff causes false measurement values.
5.3. Fitting the cuff
a) Remove all eventual objects and
jewellery (e.g. wristwatch) from the
wrist in question. Draw the cuff over
the wrist.
b) The distance between the cuff and the
hand should be approx. 10 mm.
c) Secure the cuff with the Velcro
fastener, so that it lies comfortably and
not too tight, whereby no space should
remain between the cuff and the wrist.
d) Lay the arm on a table, with the palm
upwards. Support the arm a little with
a rest (cushion), so that the cuff rests
at about the same height as the heart.
Take care, that the cuff lies free.
Remain so for 2 minutes sitting
quietly, before beginning with the
measurement.
continuous measurements, and
afterwards calculate the result.
c) There will be15 seconds rest time
between measurements and the unit
will beep at the last 5 seconds to
remind you for the coming
measurement.
d) Data obtained in Average Mode are
indicated by a symbol.
Single mode
a) You would like to take single mode
measurement, please slide the switch
toward «1» location.
b) There is only 1 measurement each
cycle in single mode.
5.5. Measuring procedure
After the cuff has been appropriately positioned and the setting of the
pressure pre-selection has been undertaken, the measurement can begin:
a) Press the O/I button, the device will
check LCD segments then do auto-zero
calibration. In the meantime, 3 long
beeps and 2 short beeps sound.
Afterward, pump begins to inflate the
cuff. In the display, the increasing cuffpressure is continually displayed.
14
b) After the suitable inflation pressure has
1

mmHg
been reached, the pump stops and the
pressure gradually falls. The cuff pressures
are displayed. In case that the inflation
pressure is not sufficient, the monitor
automatically re-inflates to a higher level.
c) When the instrument detects a pulse, the
heart symbol in the display starts to flash
and a beep is heard for every heartbeat.
d) A longer beep is sounded for 3 seconds
when the measurement has been completed.
The systolic, and diastolic blood pressures
and pulse rate now appear in the display.
Example (Fig.): Systole 118, Diastole 73,
Pulse 75
e) The measurement reading remains on the
display until you switch off the instrument. If
no button is pressed for a period of 5
minutes the instrument switches itself off in
order to preserve the batteries.
f) When the unit is set to Average Mode setting
generally 3 separate measurements will take
place in succession and calculates your detected
blood pressure value. There will be 15 seconds
resting time in-between each measurement. A
count down indicates the remaining time and a
beep will sound 5 seconds before the 2nd and 3rd
readings will begin. But in case that the single
data of each cycle differ too much from each

after four measurements the data vary too much. In this case, «ERR 6» is
shown and no result can be given. If one of the measurements causes
an error message,it will be repeated for one more time. In case that any
additional error occurs, the measurement will be discontinued and error
code displayed.
5.6. Discontinuing a measurement
If it is necessary to interrupt a blood pressure
measurement for any reason (e.g. the patient feels
unwell), the O/I button can be pressed at any
time. The device then immediately lowers the
cuff-pressure automatically and enter into the
sleep mode.
5.7. Memory – storage and recall of the
measurements
The blood-pressure monitor automatically stores
the last 30 measurement values for each user. By
pressing the MEMORY button, average of existing
memory readings displayed first with an «A» and

Attention!
Before you would like to cancel all measurements, please confirm the user
objective first.
Just depress the MEMORY button more than
7 seconds, it will show CL symbol with 3
short beep sounds to express the
cancellation operation has worked.
Note: If your last stored measurement is
taken from average mode, you will see
icon around the 3rd second with one
short beep.

ERR 1No pulse has been detected.
ERR 2Unnatural pressure impulses influence the measurement result.
Reason: The arm was moved during theMeasurement (Artefact).
ERR 3The inflation of the cuff takes too long. The cuff is not correctly
seated.
ERR 5It occurs while the difference between systolic pressure and
diastolic pressure is too far away from acceptable and
reasonable range.
ERR 6Due to unstable conditions during measurements, it is not
possible to calculate an average result.
HIThe pressure in the cuff is too high (over 300 mmHg) OR the
pulse is too high (over 200 beats per minute). Relax for 5
minutes and repeat the measurement.*
LOThe pulse is too low (less than 40 beats per minute). Repeat the
measurement.*
* Please consult your doctor, if this or any other problem occurs repeatedly.
18
Other possible malfunctions and their elimination
If problems occur when using the device, the following points should be
checked and if necessary, the corresponding measures are to be taken:

Внимание!
