1. About this operation manual
This operation manual is a basic guide book for the installation and operation of MICRODIGITAL Inc.'s New L Series Network
Camera.
Network experienced users as well as beginners should carefully read this manual for the safety before the installation
and operation and it will also provide users with taking full advantage of all quality features of the Camera.
Please keep this manual in a good condition for the future reference and service application.
• Changes or modification not expressly approved by MICRODIGITAL Inc. could void the user's authority to operate the Camera.
• The installation should be made by qualified service personnel and should conform to all local codes.
2. Safety Instructions
Please read the following instructions carefully to prevent any damage and loss for life and property.
● Give a special attention to keep the Camera from the dangerous drop or external shock in transportation or handling.
● Do not install the Camera in a place of vibration.
● Do not move the Camera in operation.
● Do not install the Camera on an uneven surface and in order to prevent injury, the Camera must be firmly attached to the
wall or ceiling.
● Clean the Camera only with dry cloth.
● Avoid installing the Camera at a place of high humidity or in extremely hot/cold weather.
● Avoid installing the Camera at the place exposed to gas or oil.
● Never try to touch the Camera in wet hand. It may cause an electric shock.
● Do not place heavy items on the power cable. It may cause a fire and an electric shock.
● To avoid electric shock, never try to dismantle the Camera. All maintenance should be carried by qualified personnel.
● Do not block any ventilation openings. It may cause a fire.
● Stuck-in or peeled-off cable can cause damage to the product or a fire.
● To avoid the damage of the Camera from an unexpected blackout, it's recommended to use UPS (Uninterruptible Power
Supply). Consult an authorized local dealer or agent of UPS.
● Unplug the Camera during light storms or when unused for long periods of time.
● If any liquid or solid matter gets into the housing, immediately disconnect the Camera from power supply and have it
checked by an authorized dealer before reusing.
● In case of abnormal smell and smoke on the Camera, disconnect the main plug from the Camera and call an authorized
dealer in your location.

4. Product Overview
Product Features
MICRODIGITAL's New L Series Network Camera is the device which provides users with the convenient video surveillance
circumstance via Network and users can monitor, record and manage events with easy user interface.
This manual refers to the installation and the operation in detail.
ONVIF Protocol Support (Profile S ver. 2.4)
● Multi-Streaming for displaying and recording videos in the different resolutions and qualities simultaneously using
different CODECs.
● First Streaming : H264 only.
Secondary Streaming : H.264 / M-JPEG.
● Video Quality Adjustment ranged in 10-50.
● Double Scanned WDR, HLC (Highlight Compression), BLC (Backlight Compensation), De-fog
● 30fps@1080P on the WDR mode, 60fps@720p on the normal mode
● True Day / Night Surveillance with IR Cut Filter Removable Mechanism (Option)

5. Connection
[Notice]
* Turn off the power on the Camera before installation and connection.
* Do not expose power and connection cables to ambient moisture. It may cause product damage.
5.1. Connecting to Network
Users can set up a remote control, a configuration, a monitoring, etc.
Check out the Network Environment after installing the Camera.
5.2. Connecting to Power
5.2.1. In case of using Power Adaptor
Connect Power Socket to DC Jack on the Camera. All Cameras support DC12V.

(The Power adaptor with DC 12 V/1.5 A is recommended)
5.2.2. In case of using PoE (Power over Ethernet) equipment
Check out if the PoE Power Option is included in the model before installation.
5.3. Using micro SD card
micro SD card helps record any critical scene even under network disconnection.
5.3.1. To insert micro SD card
- Insert micro SD card in viewing of the direction of the terminal.
- Slide micro SD card smoothly. Hard-handed operation may cause damage to micro SD card.
In case that users insert micro SD card in a wrong direction by force, it may cause damage to micro SD card or
micro SD card slot on the Camera. Do not insert micro SD card on power-on status. Before inserting the micro SD
card, Power should be off.
5.3.2. To remove micro SD card
- Press micro SD card gently. micro SD card is unlocked.
- Remove micro SD card with care. If users remove micro SD card by force in the lock-in condition, it may cause
damage to micro SD card or micro SD card slot on the Camera. Do not remove micro SD card on power-on status.
Before removing the micro SD card, power should be off.
[Notice]
* In any damage and loss of Data on micro SD card caused by negligence on the part of user, MICRODIGITAL Inc. shall be
exempt from obligation.
* micro SD card is a consumable goods so that data may not be saved anymore over a certain numbers of reading and
writing. In this case, replace the micro SD card as new one.
5.4. Initial Setup and operation
Before using the Camera, check out the condition of the connections between devices and the status of power supply.
The Camera must be connected to Network and Power must be supplied to each device.
In order to connect the Camera, firstly install MICRODIGITAL's Client Program on the PC.
If the Camera is connected to PC, Web Viewer Program is installed automatically.
For viewing a video stream in Web Browser, ActiveX Control Installation must be allowed in the configuration of Web
Browser.

6. Video and System Setup
6.1. Login
Users can connect IP Camera after inserting User Name and Password.
The default User Name and Password is root / root.
6.2. Live View : Tap 1 ~5

Select Live View, Setup and Playback.

Tap 1 : Setup First / Secondary Video Streaming and the video transmission protocol.
Tap 2 : Setup OSD (Camera Name / Position, Date / Time)
Tap 3 : Setup AE (Auto Exposure), HLC (Highlight Compression), BLC (Backlight Compensation) and
Day/Night control
Tap 4 : Setup White Balance, Image Enhancement and Functions (Mirror / Flicker).
Tap 5 : Setup WDR mode, Defog, Shading and Alarm In/Out control

Digital Zoom Operation

6.2.1. First Streaming at Tap 1
* Video Codec : H.264 / Main Profile or Baseline profile is supported.
* Resolution : 1920 x 1080, 1280x720, 800x600, 704X480, 640X480, 320X240 resolutions are supported.
* Quality : VBR mode keeps the video quality constantly and it is configured in 10 - 50 (Default : 50).
* GOP (Group of Picture) is configurable.
- The more the GOP size sets, the less network bandwidth will be occupied.
* Frame Rate : Users can set up Frame Rate up to 30fps.
* Encoding Mode
- The Bitrate used in encoding has a direct impact on the video quality and the bandwidth consumption.
- VBR (Variable Bit Rate) mode and CBR (Constant Bit Rate) mode are selectable.
VBR mode varies the amount of output data per time segment and allows a higher Bitrate to be allocated in
more complex scenes. On the other hand, CBR mode keeps a constant Bitrate in busy networks but image
quality is variable by scene complexities
* Bit Rate
- Activated in CBR mode only. The lower Bitrate provides lower quality image and vice versa but Frame rate may
get lower accord to Network environment. The configurable Bitrate range is between 512kbps ~ 10,000 kbps.
6.2.2. Secondary Streaming at Tap 1
* Video Codec : It supports H.264 / Main Profile or Baseline profile and MJPEG.
* Resolution : Either 640 x480 and 320X240 resolution is selectable.
*Quality : VBR mode keeps the video quality constantly and it is configured in 10 - 50 (Default : 50).
* GOP (Group of Picture) is configurable and users can set it up in H.264 mode only.
- The more the GOP size sets, the less network bandwidth will be occupied.
* Frame Rate : Users can set up Frame Rate up to 30fps.
* Encoding Mode

get lower accord to Network environment. The configurable Bitrate range is between 512kbps ~ 10,000 kbps.
* To monitor the 2nd (sub) stream, click the button at the center of top menu.

6.2.3. Title and Date / Time at Tap 2
Users can set a Title of Camera / Date / Time and its position as OSD (On Screen Display).
6.2.4. Lightening Setup at Tap 3
6.2.4.1. Exposure
Brightness : According to the installation environment, user can adjust the Brightness.
AGC : It adjusts the sensitivity of the Camera. The higher gain level is, the brighter the screen becomes. But the higher
gain level causes more noise.
Sens-up : It boosts the sensitivity under the low light environment and is adjusted in Off, 2X, 4X, 8X, 16X, 32X.
Default setting is Off.
Shutter mode : Shutter Speed can be adjusted automatically and manually and flicker mode removes flicker.
Location : Shutter Speed Range can be programming according to the location of the installation of the Camera.
This menu is activated only in Auto mode.
Speed : User can adjust the Shutter Speed directly in Manual mode and the range is in 1/30~1/30,000.

6.2.4.2. Backlight
Backlight Compensation (BLC) : Users can get the foreground scene brighter to recognize the object more clearly
even under strong backlight environment. But the over saturation in the background is inevitable.
Highlight Compression (HLC) : Highlight can be masked with a designated color and the reference value of the highlight
is programmable.
6.2.4.3. Day / Night
In order to provide true color image at daytime and noiseless monochrome image at nighttime, the Camera switches
Images from Color to B/W and vice versa at an optimized lux level.
Auto : It switches over from Color to B/W and from B/W to Color automatically and should be used for Non IR LED
Cameras.
[Notice] In case that Auto mode is selected for IR LED Cameras, it may cause the malfunction of Day/Night Switching
over.
Color : It always shows Color mode but can reflect unclear images at nighttime if there is no relevant light source.
B/W : IR LEDs are only activated at night and regardless of daytime and night time, it always shows B/W mode
Extern : Day/Night Switching over is synchronized by trigger signal from IR LED Board inside.
[Notice] When users are using IR LED Camera and want to set up Day/Night to switching over automatically, Extern
mode should be selected.
6.2.5. Camera Setup at Tap 4
6.2.5.1. Image
Sharpness : it adjusts the Sharpness.
Gamma : Brightness, Contrast, and Color Reproduction on the screen can be adjusted.
ACE : Adaptive Contrast Enhancer is necessary because imaging devices has narrow dynamic range. Conventional
methods, such as Gamma Correction or Histogram Equalization, are normally lost their contents information in limit
area, and then picture quality of bright/dark area can be degraded

6.2.5.1. Color
AWB: According to the installation environment, White Balance can be adjusted in Auto and Manual Mode.
6.2.5.2. Function
Mirror : Screen can be flipped over horizontally and vertically.
Frequency : According to the setup of power frequency, a frame rate is variable. It sets 25fps in 50Hz and 30fps in 60Hz.
6.2.6. Advanced Setup at Tap 5
6.2.6.1. Advanced
Mode : Normal, DNR, and WDR can be selected.
In Normal mode, the video in 60fps can be transmitted when the resolution is selected to 1280x720.
WDR enables users to distinguish the subjects clearly without a dark image on the foreground and an over saturation on
the background even under strong backlight environment. After activating the WDR function, you can optimize the
image setting by adjusting the WDR level. Use "High" level when there is a high contrast between the bright and the
dark areas of the scene. In the case of low contrast, it is recommended to disable WDR function.
DNR eliminates image noises in low light conditions and it helps to provide a clear image at nighttime and save HDD
storage significantly.
6.2.6.2. Iris
ALC : Automatic Light Control adjusts the scene vividly in diverse lighting conditions. It allows the auto-iris circuitry to
either take bright spots more into consideration (peak), bringing out detail in bright areas, or less into
consideration (average) bringing out detail in shadows.
ELC : Electronic Light Control compensates for moderate light changes in indoor applications without the use of
expensive auto Iris lenses.
6.2.6.3. Defog
Defog is one of image enhancement technologies and is applicable for outdoor cameras to enhance the image quality in
fog.
6.2.6.4. Shading
It compensates for the difference of the brightness between the center and the outskirt area on the scene and is useful
when a wide field of view is selected.

6.2.6.5. Alarm IO
Alarm In : External Sensors can be connected and either NO (Normally Open) or NC (Normally Closed) is selected.
Alarm Out : Solid State Relay inside Camera is turned to On/Off.
6.2.6.6. Multi lingual
Users can select the language in English, Korean and Russian.
6.2.7. Digital Zoom
Users can use Digital Zoom and also adjust Brightness and Hue Saturation Intensity.
6.3. Setup
6.3.1. Event Schedule
It can be synchronized with Motion Detection and the video can be recorded in SD Card Memory.

Recording mode
Continue or Motion recording mode is selectable. In case that user selects continuous recording mode, the recoding file is created as a chunk file per 30 seconds. When a Motion is detected, “M” is marked at the top-right
of the screen.
SD Card Support
User can save the video to SD Card in avi format.
Overwrite mode
Preparing for storage fully, user selects Overwriting mode to record the video with erasing the previous recorded video by serial order.
Secondary Streaming in H.264
User can save the storage by selecting H.246 Second Stream.
External Sensor
When DI/DO (Option) is used and a motion is triggered by synchronizing with DI signal, “S” is marked at the
top-right of the screen.
Schedule can be added as follows.
Select a day of week.

If the day of week is selected by double click of right button of mouse, the window in which users set a time and a
day of week pops up. After setting up the time and the day of week, press OK button on the window and then
Apply on the menu.
MAX record Time (Second) : Users can setup the time of Motion Recording after detecting the motion as follows.
6.3.2. Network

6.3.2.1. IP Address Settings
Static IP and DHCP are selectable. Static IP is selected when users are using Static IP and it is done manually.
On the other hand, IP Address and Network Setting Value are allocated in DHCP automatically through DHCP server.
[Notice]
* In case that users input IP Address and Gateway Address wrong, the network connection fails.
* In case that users input DNS Server Address wrong, some function may be inactivated.
6.3.2.2. Web Server Settings
HTTP Port : This port is for Web Server on the Camera and in general, the port number for HTTP is 80.
If it needs changing, be careful not to make a conflict with the port used for other device.
6.3.2.3. RTSP Settings
RTSP Port : This port is for Video Streaming and the default port number is 554.
(Main stream : rtsp://192.168.0.2:554/h264 Sub Stream : rtsp://192.168.0.2:554/hsub)
6.3.2.4. DDNS Settings
If DDNS is activated, users can use sub menus like DDNS Service. Well known DDNS Server is DynDNS.
Domain Name : Input Host (Domain) Name for use.
Domain Name must be registered in the DDNS Server which users will use in advance.
User Name : Input User Name registered on the DDNS Server.
Password : Input Password registered on the DDNS Server.
6.3.3. Date / Time
6.3.3.1. Time Settings
Current Time : It shows current time on the Camera.
Mode : There are 3 ways to setup the time on the Camera.

- To synchronize the time between the Camera and PC
- To synchronize the time between the Camera and NTP Server
- To set up the time on the Camera manually
6.3.3.2. NTP Server Settings
In case of Get Time from NTP server, the current time can be synchronized with NTP server.
NTP Server IP Address : Input Address of NTP Server to be used. The registered Address can be used.
Time Zone : Time zone can be selected.
6.3.4. System Information
Users can verify the System Information such as Camera Device Name, Product Name, UI firmware Version, and System
Firmware Version.
6.3.5. User Account
Authority : Grant of User Authority Assignment. It is divided by Administrator, Operator and Viewer.
User ID : Input new ID and it must be over 4 digit or alphabetical or alphanumeric code.
Password : Input Password and it must be over 4 digit or alphabetical or alphanumeric code.
Confirm Password : Confirm the Password again.

6.3.6. Update : Firmware Upgrade / Factory Default
Firmware can be upgraded remotely. It takes about 3 minutes but depending on the network situation, it can vary.
* Caution : Camera should not be power-off until Firmware upgrade process is completed. It can damage the camera.
Factory Default : All the setting values are initialized to Factory Default. User can do factory default by pressing
the "reset switch"
6.3.7. Motion Area
Motion Detection Area : Motion Detection Area is rectangular typed region and there are 4 regions .
Motion Alarm On Screen : When a motion is detected, Motion Area in red can be displayed and is recoded because
it marks like OSD (On Screen Display).
Sensitivity
- The sensitivity of the Motion Detection is configurable between 1 ~ 10 (default : 5).
- The higher value results in more sensitivity effect. Save the settings by pressing Apply button.

6.3.8. Privacy Area
Users can set up a Privacy Zone and this area can be masked with various color and transparency level.
6.4. Download
In download menu, the recorded data of the current time is marked.
User can search the video in Continue and Event mode.
If users click a wanted recorded data, a download will be executed as below.

6.5. Motorized Lens control
If Device support Motorized Lens control(Zoom, Focus) then there will be "Motorize" menu on the top right.
If press the "Motorize" menu then Motorize control window will be pop-up and camera start lens initialize and this lens
initialize process will be done once. User can adjust Zoom/focus position with auto focus mode or manual mode. For detail
adjustment of Zoom/Focus position, please decrease the step size.
6.6. Control Port on the All-in one camera
All-in-one cameras(such as MDC-L6091VSL-66HA, MDC-L6091VSL-66H) also support alarm/relay and audio functionality.

For alarm/relay control, user should make a RJ-45 type plug and insert this plug cable into "control" port(above figure). Do not
insert PoE(LAN) plug into the "control" port. For the detail information on the control port, please refer below pin print and
description.

8. Trouble Shooting
* Camera is not detected
- Please check if the network and power are connected properly.
- Please check if Proxy is set on web browser. If so, please remove Proxy.
- Please check if URL on web browser is set as HTTPS. If so, please change it to HTTP.
- Please check if Subnet Mask, Gateway and DNS server are correctly configured, in case of static IP.
* Camera is not accessed remotely
- Please check if Firewall and Router are configured properly.
- Please check if camera is set as blocked from remote access.
* Password forgotten
- Default ID and password is root and root respectively.
* No Video Streaming
- Web Client should be installed thru Active X. Please remove Pop-up block on web browser.
- In case of high resolution and high video quality, video streaming can be slow or disconnected. Please adjust the
video resolution and quality properly in case of narrow bandwidth.
- In case that other programs are operating on PC, video can be broken or slow.
