MFJ-641
MFJ Rapid Battery Charger Instructions
Thank you for purchasing our Battery Charger. Please read the following information carefully before
using the charger.
INTRODUCTION:
The MFJ-641 is a battery charger with both quick and trickle charging for Ni-Cd and Ni-MH battery packs.
It uses a microprocessor and the -∆V principle to examine whether the battery is fully charged, thus
overcharging can be avoided and the life of the battery can be prolonged.
OPERATION:
1. Connect the power source to the charger. The POWER INDICATOR lights up. This indicates a
READY status. The charger is now ready for use.
2. Insert the battery pack into the charging slot. The CHARGING INDICATOR lights up. The charger
proceeds to a quick charging status. When the battery pack is fully charged, the CHARGING
INDICATOR will start to flash. The charger then proceeds to a trickle charging status.
3. When the CHARGING INDICATOR starts to flash, the battery pack is fully charged and can be
removed. If the battery pack is left in the charger, the charger will continue to charge the b attery in
trickle charge mode. Although it is all right to leave the battery in the charger for trickle charging,
continuous charging over 24 hours must be avoided. The trickle charging current is 0.1 X rated
current of the battery pack.
4. If the CHARGING INDICATOR does not light up when the battery pack is inserted into the charging
slot, it may indicate that you have a bad battery or the battery pack is not the right one for the Charging
Slot. Please check the battery before re-inserting.
CAUTION:
1. Before charging, please make sure that the charging slot can be used for your battery pack (Please see
Chart 1 for the battery packs each charging slot can accommodate). WARNING! Placing the wrong
battery pack in the wrong charging slot can damage the charger.
2. Please be sure that the battery is totally depleted of charge before charging, otherwise MEMORY
EFFECT will affect the life of the battery.
