12 MONTH LIMITED WARRANTY
MFJ Enterprises, Inc. warrants to the original owner of this product, if manufactured by MFJ Enterprises, Inc. and purchased from an authorized dealer or directly from MFJ Enterprises, Inc. to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of 12 months from date of purchase provided the following terms of this warranty are satisfied.
1. The purchaser must retain the dated proof-of-purchase (bill of sale, canceled check, credit card or money order receipt, etc.) describing the product to establish the validity of the warranty claim and submit the original or machine reproduction of such proof-of-purchase to MFJ Enterprises, Inc. at the time of warranty service. MFJ Enterprises, Inc. shall have the discretion to deny wa rranty without dated proof-of-purchase. Any evidence of alteration, erasure, or forgery shall be cause to void any and all warranty terms immediately.
2. MFJ Enterprises, Inc. agrees to repair or replace at MFJ’s option without charge to the original owner any defective product under warranty, provided the product is returned postage prepaid to MFJ Enterprises, Inc. with a personal check, cashiers check, or money order for $7.00 covering postage and handling.
3. MFJ Enterprises, Inc. will supply replacement parts free of charge for any MFJ product under warranty upon request. A dated proof-of-purchase and a $5.00 personal check, cashiers check, or money order must be provided to cover postage and handling.
4. This warranty is NOT void for owners who attempt to repair defective units. Technical consultation is available by calling (662) 323-5869.
5. This warranty does not apply to kits sold by or manufactured by MFJ Enterprises, Inc.
6. Wired and tested PC board products are covered by this warranty provided only the wired and tested PC board product is returned. Wired and tested PC boards installed in the owner’s cabinet or connected to switches, jacks, or cables, etc. sent to MFJ Enterprises, Inc. will be returned at the owner’s expense unrepaired.
7. Under no circum stances is MFJ Enterprises, Inc. liable for consequential damages to person or property by the use of any MFJ products.
8. Out-of-warranty Service: MFJ Enterprises, Inc. will repair any out -of-warranty product provided the unit is shipped prepaid. All repaired units will be shipped COD to the owner. Repair charges will be added to the COD fee unless other arrangements are made.
9. This warranty is given in lieu of any other warranty expressed or implied.
10. MFJ Enterprises, Inc. reserves the right to make changes or improvements in design or manufacture without incurring any obligation to install such changes upon any of the products previously manufactured.
11. All MFJ products to be serviced in -warranty or out-of-warranty should be addressed to MFJ Enterprises, Inc., 300 Industrial Park Road, Starkville, Mississippi 39759, USA and must be accompanied by a letter describing the problem in detail along with a copy of your dated proof-of-purchase.
12. This warranty gives you specific rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

General Information and Operating Instructions
Thank you for purchasing the MFJ-185 Deluxe DXer’s Digital Watch. Because of the many features of this watch it can be complicated and difficult to use. Please read these instructions carefully before use.

Temperature range: -10°C to 60°C

BATTERY INSTALLATION & REPLACEMENT
The MFJ-185 already comes with the battery installed.
When the LCD becomes dim or goes out completely replace the battery. Follow these steps:
1. Remove the 4 screws on the back of the watch with a jeweler’s screwdriver and remove
the cover.
2. Remove a screw from t he bracket holding the battery.
3. Remove the old battery and replace with a 3V, CR2025 coin battery or equivalent.
4. After replacing the battery, replace all parts & screws.
MODES OF OPERATION
Press the MODE button to cycle through the different modes. The t hree modes are: Normal Time Mode, World Time Mode, and Alarm Time Mode.
NORMAL TIME MODE
In the Normal Time Mode, the time will be displayed in the below the world map with the seconds running. The Month and Date will be displayed in the upper right corner. The upper left of the LCD will show the ambient temperature or the day of the week.
Button Functions in Normal Time Mode:
DATE/TEMP – Toggles upper left display between temperature and day of the week 12/24 °C/°F – When the upper left part of the LCD displays temperature, this button toggles the
display between °C and °F. When the upper left part of the LCD displays the day of the week, this button toggles the time display between 12 Hr and 24 Hr format. SET – Briefly pressing the SET button will illuminate the E.L. Backlight for about 3 seconds. When the upper left part of the LCD displays temperature, pressing and holding the SET button will adjust the temperature down 3°C and a hand icon will appear on the LCD by the temperature. This is for body temperature adjustment. When the upper left part of the LCD displays the day of the week, pressing and holding the SET button will initiate the Time Setting Mode.
Notes about Temperature:
When the watch is worn on the wrist, your body temperature will affect the temperature
reading and the accuracy will decrease.
When the ambient temperature changes rapidly, the MFJ-185 may take up to 30 minutes to
achieve an accurate reading.
For the most accurate temperature reading, remove the watch from your wrist and place it in
the environment to be measured.
Do not expose the temperature to direct sunlight. Exposure to direct sunlight can cause the
temperature to read higher than the actual temperature and not be accurate.
Time Setting Mode
Follow these steps for Setting the MFJ-185:
Be sure you are in Normal Time Display Mode and the Day of the week appears in the upper
left corner of the LCD.
Press the SET button and hold for a few seconds until the seconds digits begin to flash.
Press the DATE/TEMP button to reset the seconds to “00”.
Press the MODE button and the hour digits will begin to flash.
Press the DATE/TEMP button to advance the hour.
Press the MODE button and the minutes digits will begin to flash.
Press the DATE/TEMP button to advance the minutes.
Press the MODE button and the year digits will begin to flash.
Press the DATE/TEMP button to advance the year.
Press the MODE button and the month digits will begin to flash.
Press the DATE/TEMP button to advance the month.
Press the MODE button and the date digits will begin to flash.
Press the DATE/TEMP button to advance the date.
To continue in the Time Setting Mode, pressing the MODE button will cycle through the
settings.
To exit the Time Setting Mode, pressing the SET button briefly and the LCD will return to
the Normal Time Mode.
WORLD TIME MODE
In Normal Time Mode, press the MODE button once to enter World Time Mode. In the World Time Mode, the city abbreviation will be displayed in the upper left corner of the LCD. The time in that city will be disp layed in the upper right corner of the LCD. The country code & area code, high temperature, or low temperature will be displayed below the world map. Please see the table below for city abbreviations:

Button Functions in World Time Mode:
DATE/TEMP – When the Country Code and Area Code are displayed below the world map, this
button will cycle through the 50 cities in alphabetical order. When the typical high or low temperature is displayed below the world map, this button will cycle through the typical temperatures for each month of the year. The month for which the temperatur e is displayed is located in the lower right corner next to the temperature. 12/24 °C/°F – When the Country Code and Area Code are displayed below the world map, this button will let you adjust the time of the city displayed if Daylight Savings Time is observed. DST will appear in the upper right corner buy the city time when enabled. When the high or low temperature is displayed below the world map, this button will toggle between the typical high and low temperature for the month displayed. SET – Briefly pressing the SET button will illuminate the E.L. Backlight for about 3 seconds and toggle between the typical temperature information and County Code and Area Code information. Pressing and holding the SET button will allow you to adjust the time of the city displayed.
World Time Setting Mode
Please note that although you may have correctly set the time in Normal Time Mode, the time displayed in the World Time Mode may not be correct. You must set the time in the World Time Mode to match the time in Normal Time Mode. Follow these steps to ensure the world time and normal time match:
1. In World Time Mode, cycle through the cities until you come to a city in your time zone.
2. Be sure that the Country Code and Area Code information is displayed below the world map. If it is not briefly press the SET button.
3. With the Country Code and Area Code information displayed below the world map, press and hold the SET button until the hour digits flash in the upper right corner.
4. Press the DATE/TEMP button to adjust the hour to the current hour in your time zone.
5. Press the MODE button and the minutes will begin to flash.
6. Press the DATE/TEMP button to adjust the minutes to the current time in your time zone.
7. Press the SET button briefly to exit the World Time Setting Mode.
ALARM TIME MODE
In Normal Time Mode, press the MODE button twice to enter Alarm Time Mode. In World Time Mode press the MODE button once to enter the Alarm Time Mode. In Alarm Time Mode, “AL” will appear in the upper left corner above the world map and the actual time will appear in the upper right corner above the world map. The alarm time will appear below the world map. To set the alarm time, follow these steps:
1. Press and hold the SET button until the hour digits of the alarm time begin to flash.
2. Press the DATE/TEMP button to adjust the hour.
3. Press the MODE button and the minutes digits will begin to flash.
