MFJ-1704 4-Position Coaxial Switch

Thank you for purchasing the MFJ-1704 4-Position

Coaxial Switch.

The MFJ-1704 utilizes heavy cast metal

construction and ball bearing drive for smooth switching.

Plus the MFJ-1704 has a replacable lightning/surge

protection pellet and center ground position. When the 1704
is in the center position, all connectors are disconnected
and grounded. If the switch is turned to an active

connector, the other connectors are automatically grounded.

The active connector is automatically protected with the

replacable lightning/surge protector.

*CAUTION*DO NOT SWITCH CONNECTORS WHILE TRANSMITTING.

Should a lightning strike occur, the replacable lig­htning/surge protection pellet will short to ground pro­tecting your equipment.

Open the 1704 and check the pellet
if it does not recover by itself. If the pellet is burned
out, it will need to be replace. While waiting for the
replacement pellet, your equipment could be operated without

lightning protection by removing the burned out pellet but
it is NOT recommended for the safety of your equipment.

GROUNDING

Requirements:

A seperate, external ground wire must be used with the MFJ-

1704.

This wire should be connected to either of the thru-

holes of the base plate. The lightning protection pellet
will not work without a good ground. Paint should be

removed from the base plate at the point of connection to
provide a good.solder surface.
