MF Digital PicoJet Offset User Manual

Understanding the Offset Center Feature
Purpose:
The Offset Center feature is used to “tweak” the positioning of your printed image on your disc so the image is printed on center. This feature should not be used if you have not set your Mask Settings first. See the Mask Settings Guide for instructions on how to set up the Mask Settings.
Getting Started
Before starting this procedure, please make a table like the sample one below.
X Y
+1mm -1 mm
-1mm +1mm
This will aid you in the amount of steps (millimeters or 1/10mm) you have adjusted your Offset Center. Should you over-adjust the X and Y coordinates, you will now know how many steps to adjust + or -.
This procedure should be used with the PicoJet Alignment PRN.
The PRN can be found in the C:\Reserved for Tech Support\Test Files\TEST PRNs\PicoJet Located on the C Drive. (SA, PC, Director, and Director Pro Systems only). EC Series Users can download the PRN from www.mfdigital.com website.
The outer diameter is set to 114MM
Printing the Alignment Pattern
To verify the printer’s current Alignment, first print the PicoJet Alignment Pattern PRN file and note the position of the outer diameter of the pattern to outer diameter of the printable area.
Determining Proper Alignment
If you accurately measured your media you’ll need to minus the outer diameter of your media to the outer diameter of this Alignment pattern. For example, if your media measured 118mm, subtract 118mm-114mm = 4mm, a 2mm “gap” between the outer diameter of the printable area and where the outer diameter of the test pattern prints. If this is so on both the X and Y coordinates, then the printed image is centered properly.
Should the “gap” measure differently, you will then need to “flash” new X and / or Y coordinates to the printer to make the adjustment. To do this via the utility, follow the steps below:
1. Click on the Start button
2. Choose Printers & Faxes ( XP Users) / Printers (Win 2000 Users)
3. Right click on the PicoJet 6000 Printer Icon and select Printing Preferences
4. Select the Alignment Tab
When entering the coordinates, it is best to do one at a time, first the X then the Y. The values can be entered as + or – value depending on the direction you need to change. Please remember after entering the values in the text boxes, click the OFFSET button (indicated by the red box). Failure to do so will not flash the coordinates. After entering the first coordinates are flashed, you should be using your sample table as explained above and note the values for X and Y.
Alternatively, you can make this adjustment in 1 millimeter or 1/10 of millimeter increments. If you change the increment, note this on your sample table.
Checking your Alignment (after flashing)
Start a Print Only job using the PicoJet Alignment Test Pattern and check the “gap” as mentioned before. If the gap is now equal on both X and Y coordinates, the print image is now centered. Repeat this process if more adjusting is necessary.
