1 Safety instructions
1.1 Intended use
PFK9- / K...(x-T4)-series weighing platforms are part of a modular weighing system
consisting of a METTLER TOLEDO weighing terminal and at least one weighing platform.
➜ Use the weighing platform only for weighing in accordance with this User manual.
➜ The weighing platform is intended for indoor use only.
➜ Any other type of use and operation beyond the limits of technical specications is
considered as not intended.
➜ For driving over the weighing platform only use pallet trucks. For weight limits refer to
page 17.
Legal metrology
➜ For use in legal metrology only use approved weighing platforms.
➜ When using in legal metrology, the operating company is responsible for observing
all the national weights & measurements requirements.
➜ Please contact the METTLER TOLEDO Service organization for questions related to the
use in legal for trade applications.

1.3 Safety precautions for operation in hazardous areas
PFK9- / K...(x-T4)-series weighing platforms offer options for operation in hazardous
areas, see table in section 2.1.
The operating company is responsible for the safe operation of the explosion protected
weighing system.
▲ Strictly observe the instructions of the operating company.
▲ Comply with all national regulations for operation in hazardous areas, as well as the
instructions and information in this User manual.

1.4 Safety precautions for weighing platforms with raisable load plate
▲ Do not operate the weighing platforms with raisable load plate outside the temperature
range of –10 °C to +40 °C. Otherwise, the safety of the pneumatic springs is not
guaranteed.
▲ Strictly observe the safety instructions of the operating company.
▲ Only instructed personnel may open/close the weighing platforms with raisable load
plate.
▲ Protect the pneumatic springs against soiling and damage.
▲ Have soiled or damaged pneumatic springs replaced immediately.
▲ Pneumatic springs are spare parts. Use only the spare parts specied by
METTLER TOLEDO.
▲ The weighing platform must be checked to ensure compliance with the safety
requirements before being put into service for the rst time, following any service work
and at least every 3 years.

1. Ensure that the location of the weighing platform is stable, vibration-free and horizontal.
2. Observe the following environmental conditions:
– No direct sunlight
– No strong drafts
– No excessive temperature uctuations

3.3 Checking weighing platforms in a pit
Before starting a weighing series, perform a function check of the weighing platform and
the connected weighing terminal.
Function check
1. Make sure, that the load plate is closed and locked correctly, see section 4.4 or 4.5.
2. Make sure that the weighing platform is connected to a weighing terminal and that the
weighing terminal is switched on.
3. Make sure that the weighing platform is unloaded and the display of the weighing
terminal shows 0.
4. Load the weighing platform.
The indicator must show a value different from 0.
5. Unload the weighing platform.
The indicator must return to 0.
Verication test
For a verication test refer to the user manual of the connected weighing terminal.
If the verication seal is broken, verication is no longer valid.

3.5 Important notes
For best weighing results observe the following:
▲ To achieve best weighing results place the weighing sample always on the same
position on the weighing platform.
▲ Avoid abrasive and wear processes.

▲ When travelling across recessed weighing platforms with lift trucks, ensure that the
axle load does not exceed the maximum side load, see table on page 17.
▲ Avoid falling loads, shocks and lateral impacts.
3.6 Installation, service and repair
➜ For installation, conguration, service and repair of the weighing platforms call the
METTLER TOLEDO Service.
CAUTION
➜ Use only genuine METTLER TOLEDO accessories and cable assemblies with this
product. Use of anauthorized or counterfeit accessories or cable assemblies may
result in voided warranty, improper or erroneous operation or damage to property
(including the unit) and personal injury.

4 Maintenance
Maintenance of the weighing platform is limited to regular cleaning and subsequent oiling
for stainless steel versions.
4.1 Notes on cleaning
NOTICE
Damage to the weighing platform due to incorrect use of cleaning agents.
▲ Use only such cleaning agents that do not act on the plastics used in the weighing
platform.
▲ Only use disinfectants and cleaning agents in accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions.
▲ Do not use highly acidic, highly alkaline or highly chlorinated cleaning agents.
Avoid substances with a high or low pH value since increased danger of corrosion
otherwise exists.
▲ Be particularly careful when cleaning the load cell.
➜ Remove dirt and deposits at regular intervals from the outside and inside of the
weighing platform.
– The procedure depends both on the type of surface and on the environmental
conditions prevailing at the installation location.
– For opening and closing the weighing platform refer to section 4.4 or 4.5.
Cleaning in a dry environment (painted versions)
➜ Wipe with a damp cloth.
➜ Use household cleaning agents.
Cleaning from the outside in a wet environment
(hot galvanized or stainless steel versions)
➜ Use a water jet up to 80 °C / 176 °F and max. 80 bars, minimum distance 40cm/16".
➜ Use household cleaning agents.
Cleaning in a corrosive environment (weighing platforms with raisable load plate)
➜ Use a water jet.

➜ Ensure that the gap (1) between weighing platform and pit frame is always kept clear.
➜ Remove larger dirt deposits at the pit bottom (2) at regular intervals.
➜ Check the pit drainage channel (3) for blockage at regular intervals.
Cleaning the pneumatic springs
CAUTION
Even minor damage, corrosion or ecks of paint on the piston rod lead to failure of
the pneumatic springs.
▲ Protect pneumatic springs against soiling and damage.
➜ When cleaning the pneumatic springs make sure that the cleaning agent will not
cause any corrosion.
➜ The cleaning agent must not corrode any brass components of the pneumatic spring
sealings.
4.2 Cleaning the interior (weighing platforms with raisable load plate only)
Note
Only start the cleaning process when the raisable load plate is secured in its upright
position.

The load plate has to be removed or the weighing platform opened respectively in order
to clean the load cell.
NOTICE
Damage to the load cell due to improper handling.
▲ Never touch, direct compressed air against or spray the rubber membrane (1) of
the load cell.

2. Blow out dirt or ush out with a medium-power water jet (< 2 bar).
3. Replace load plate or close weighing platform see section 4.4 or 4.5.

4.3 Subsequent treatment

In order to protect the weighing platform, carry out the following subsequent treatment:
DANGER
Danger of injury due to failure of the pneumatic springs.
▲ With raisable load plates do not oil the piston rods of the pneumatic springs.
➜ Rinse the weighing platform with clear water and remove cleaning agent completely.
➜ Dry off the weighing platform with a lint-free cloth.
OIL
➜ With stainless steel weighing platforms, treat the inside and outside with an oil suitable
for foodstuffs. With raisable load plates and recessed weighing platforms ensure that
all moving parts and hinges are treated with oil, too.
4.4 Opening and closing load plate of PFK98_-C / KC...(x-T4) / KCS...(x-T4)
CAUTION
Danger of injury due to the heavy load plate.
▲ Always ask a second person to help removing the load plate.
▲ Wear gloves when removing the load plate.
1. Remove the load plate by pivoting the two side handles (1) outward.

2. Replace the load plate (2) so that the symbol is located above the level indicator.
3. Make sure that the load supports (3) in the corners of the weighing platform are
vertical.

4.5 Opening and closing weighing platforms with raisable load plate
DANGER
Danger of injury due to slamming load plate. Crushing hazard.
▲ Wear personal protective equipment when removing the load plate, e.g., protective
gloves, safety shoes and helmet.
▲ Ensure that there is no oil below the weighing platform. An oil leakage indicates a
defective pneumatic spring. If this is the case, have the defective pneumatic springs
replaced immediately by the METTLER TOLEDO Service.
▲ Open/close the weighing platform only from the right-hand side.
▲ Only open and close the load plate with the supplied tools.
▲ Ensure that there are no persons in the danger area under the opened load plate
while the position of the load plate is not secured.
▲ Make sure that the safety wedge is mounted correctly prior to working under the
raised load plate.

Opening the weighing platform with raisable load plate
1. Remove weighing goods or superstructure from the load plate.
2. Use a screwdriver to screw out the cover screw (1).
3. Turn the handle (2) clockwise into the exposed thread until it stops.
4. Position yourself on the right-hand side next to the weighing platform.
5. Pull the load plate up using the handle.

▲ Ensure that the pneumatic spring has extended completely.

Securing the raisable load plate
1
1. On the right hand side of the weighing platform slide the slot of the supplied safety
wedge (1) onto the load plate.
2. Slide the safety wedge down until it will go no further.

3. Make sure that the catch (2) is on the inner side of the load frame.
The raised load plate is secured and cleaning or service work can be performed safely.

Closing the weighing platform with raisable load plate
WARNING
Crushing hazard
▲ Take care that no items or body parts are between load plate and load frame (danger
zone) of the weighing platform.

5. Turn out the handle counter-clockwise.

4.6 Disposal
In conformance with the European Directive 2002/96 EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment (WEEE), this device may not be disposed of with domestic waste. This also
applies to countries outside the EU, according to their specic requirements.

point specied for electrical and electronic equipment.
Disposal of pneumatic springs
• The pneumatic springs must not be opened or heated.
• The pneumatic springs may only be opened according to the manufacturer's
instructions.
• The oil lling of the pneumatic springs must be disposed of according to the
manufacturer's instructions.

All weighing platforms and the MPGI high precision load cell are equipped with an
overload protection. However, if the load exceeds the maximum permissible load, damage
of mechanical parts may occur.
The static load-bearing capacity, i.e. the maximum permissible load, is dependent on the
type of loading (positions A – D).

1 Sicherheitshinweise
1.1 Vorgesehene Nutzung
Wägebrücken der PFK9- / K...(x-T4)-Serie sind Teil eines modularen Wägesystems,
bestehend aus einem METTLER TOLEDO Wägeterminal und mindestens einer Wägebrücke.
➜ Die Wägebrücke darf ausschließlich für Wägevorgänge in Übereinstimmung mit dieser
Bedienungsanleitung verwendet werden.
➜ Die Wägebrücke ist nur zur Verwendung im Innenbereich bestimmt.
➜ Jede andere Art der Nutzung sowie der Betrieb außerhalb der in den technischen Daten
vorgegebenen Grenzen gelten als nicht bestimmungsgemäß.
➜ Zum Fahren über Wägebrücken ausschließlich Hebefahrzeuge verwenden. Für
Gewichtsgrenzen siehe Seite 33.
Eichpichtiger Verkehr
➜ Für eine Verwendung im eichpichtigen Verkehr nur geeichte Wägebrücken verwenden.
➜ Bei einer Verwendung im eichpichtigen Verkehr ist der Betreiber für die Einhaltung
aller nationalen Vorschriften in Bezug auf Maße und Gewichte zuständig.
➜ Wenden Sie sich bei Fragen bezüglich des Einsatzes in eichpichtigen Anwendungen
an die METTLER TOLEDO Serviceorganisation.

Wägebrücken der PFK9- / K...(x-T4)-Serie bieten Optionen für den Betrieb in explosionsgefährdeten Bereichen, siehe Tabelle in Abschnitt 2.1.
Der Betreiber ist für den sicheren Betrieb des explosionsgeschützten Wägesystems
verantwortlich.
▲ Die Anweisungen des Betreibers sind strikt zu befolgen.
▲ Alle nationalen Vorschriften zum Betrieb in explosionsgefährdeten Bereichen sowie die
Anleitungen und Informationen in dieser Bedienungsanleitung sind einzuhalten.

1.4 Sicherheitsvorkehrungen für Wägebrücken mit aufklappbarer Lastplatte
▲ Wägebrücken mit aufklappbarer Lastplatte nicht außerhalb des Temperaturbereichs
von –10 °C bis +40 °C betreiben. Andernfalls ist die Sicherheit der Gasdruckfedern
nicht gewährleistet.
▲ Die Sicherheitsanweisungen des Betreibers sind strikt zu befolgen.
▲ Wägebrücken mit aufklappbarer Lastplatte dürfen nur von eingewiesenem Personal
geöffnet/geschlossen werden.
▲ Die Gasdruckfedern vor Verschmutzung und Beschädigung schützen.
▲ Verschmutzte oder beschädigte Gasdruckfedern müssen sofort ausgetauscht werden.
▲ Gasdruckfedern sind Ersatzteile. Ausschließlich die von METTLER TOLEDO
spezizierten Ersatzteile verwenden.
▲ Vor der Erstinbetriebnahme und nach Servicearbeiten sowie mindestens alle 3 Jahre
die Wägebrücke auf sicherheitstechnisch einwandfreien Zustand prüfen.

2.1 Wägebrücken der PFK9- / K...(x-T4)-Serie
In dieser Bedienungsanleitung wird der Schwerpunkt auf die nachfolgend aufgelisteten
Produkte gelegt.
Die PFK9- / K...(x-T4)-Serie bietet eine Vielzahl an Wägebrücken, die auf Ihre Anforderungen
abgestimmt sind.
Jeder Typ ist verfügbar:

3.1 Prüfen des Standorts
Der richtige Standort ist entscheidend für die Genauigkeit der Wägeergebnisse.
1. Sicherstellen, dass der Standort der Wägebrücke stabil, erschütterungsfrei und
horizontal ist.
2. Folgende Umweltbedingungen beachten:
– Keine direkte Sonneneinstrahlung
– Kein starker Luftzug
– Keine übermäßigen Temperaturschwankungen

3.2 Prüfen der Wägebrücke

Vor dem Starten einer Wägeserie eine Funktionsprüfung der Wägebrücke und des
angeschlossenen Wägeterminals durchführen.
Funktionsprüfung
1. Sicherstellen, dass die Lastplatte geschlossen und korrekt verriegelt ist, siehe
Abschnitt4.4 oder 4.5.
2. Sicherstellen, dass die Wägebrücke mit einem Wägeterminal verbunden ist und dass
das Wägeterminal eingeschaltet ist.
3. Sicherstellen, dass die Wägebrücke entlastet ist und die Anzeige des Wägeterminals
0 anzeigt.
4. Wägebrücke belasten.
Die Anzeige muss einen Wert ungleich 0 anzeigen.
5. Wägebrücke entlasten.
Die Anzeige muss auf 0 zurückgehen.
Eichtest
Für Informationen zum Eichtest siehe die Bedienungsanleitung des Wägeterminals.
Wird das Eichsiegel beschädigt, ist die Eichung ist nicht länger gültig.

3.3 Prüfen von Wägebrücken bei Grubeneinbau
➜ Sicherstellen, dass die Wägebrücke den Grubenrahmen nicht berührt.
➜ Darauf achten, dass sich im Spalt (1) zwischen Wägebrücke und Grubenrahmen

3.5 Wichtige Hinweise
Für optimale Wägeergebnisse die folgenden Punkte beachten:
▲ Um optimale Wägeergebnisse zu erzielen, das Wägegut immer an derselben Stelle auf
der Wägebrücke platzieren.
▲ Abrieb- und Verschleißprozesse vermeiden.
▲ Beim Fahren mit Hebefahrzeugen über versenkt eingebaute Wägebrücken darauf
achten, dass die Achslast die maximale Seitenlast nicht überschreitet; siehe Tabelle
auf Seite 33.
▲ Fallende Lasten, Schockbelastungen sowie seitliche Stöße vermeiden.

3.6 Installation, Service und Reparatur
➜ Wenden Sie sich für Installation, Service und Reparatur der Wägebrücken an den
METTLER TOLEDO Service.
VORSICHT
➜ Ausschließlich Original-Zubehörteile und -Kabelbaugruppen von METTLER TOLEDO
mit diesem Produkt verwenden. Die Verwendung nicht zugelassener oder gefälschter
Zubehörteile oder Kabelbaugruppen kann zum Erlöschen der Garantie führen und
unsachgemäßen oder fehlerhaften Betrieb oder Sachbeschädigung (einschließlich der
Einheit) und Personenverletzungen zur Folge haben.

4 Wartung
Die Wartung der Wägebrücke beschränkt sich bei Edelstahlausführungen auf ihre
regelmäßige Reinigung und anschließendes Einölen.
4.1 Hinweise zur Reinigung
HINWEIS
Fehlgebrauch von Reinigungsmitteln kann zu Beschädigungen der Wägebrücke
führen.
▲ Ausschließlich Reinigungsmittel verwenden, die die in der Wägebrücke verwendeten
Kunststoffe nicht angreifen.
▲ Desinfektions- und Reinigungsmittel nur entsprechend den Anleitungen des
Herstellers verwenden.
▲ Keine hochsauren, hochalkalischen oder hochchlorhaltigen Reinigungsmittel
verwenden. Substanzen mit hohem oder niedrigem pH-Wert vermeiden, da
ansonsten eine höhere Korrosionsgefahr besteht.
▲ Bei der Reinigung der Wägezelle sehr vorsichtig vorgehen.
➜ Schmutz und Ablagerungen müssen sowohl außen als auch im Innern der Wägebrücke
regelmäßig entfernt werden.
– Das Vorgehen richtet sich dabei nach der Art der Oberäche sowie nach den am
Aufstellort herrschenden Umgebungsbedingungen.
– Zum Öffnen und Schließen der Wägebrücke siehe Abschnitt 4.4 oder 4.5.
Reinigung in trockener Umgebung (lackierte Ausführungen)
➜ Mit einem feuchten Tuch abwischen.
➜ Haushaltsreiniger verwenden.
Reinigung von außen in feuchter Umgebung
(feuerverzinkte Ausführungen oder Edelstahlausführungen)
➜ Wasserstrahl bis zu 80 °C / 176 °F und max. 80 bar verwenden,
Mindestabstand 40 cm / 16".
➜ Haushaltsreiniger verwenden.
Reinigung in korrosiver Umgebung (Wägebrücken mit aufklappbarer Lastplatte)
➜ Wasserstrahl verwenden.

Reinigen einer Wägebrücke bei Grubeneinbau

➜ Darauf achten, dass der Spalt (1) zwischen Wägebrücke und Grubenrahmen stets
frei ist.
➜ Größere Schmutzansammlungen auf dem Grubenboden (2) regelmäßig entfernen.
➜ Ablaufschacht (3) für die Grubenentwässerung regelmäßig auf Verstopfung prüfen.
Reinigen der Gasdruckfedern
VORSICHT
Bereits kleinere Beschädigungen, Korrosion oder Lackecken auf der Kolbenstange
können zum Ausfall der Gasdruckfedern führen.
▲ Gasdruckfedern vor Verschmutzung und Beschädigung schützen.
➜ Beim Reinigen der Gasdruckfedern sicherstellen, dass das Reinigungsmittel keine
Korrosion verursachen kann.
➜ Das Reinigungsmittel darf die Messingbauteile der Gasdruckfederdichtungen nicht
angreifen.
4.2 Reinigen der Innenbereiche (nur Wägebrücken mit aufklappbarer Lastplatte)

Hinweis
Den Reinigungsvorgang erst starten, wenn die aufklappbare Lastplatte in senkrechter
Stellung gesichert ist.
Zur Reinigung der Wägezelle muss die Lastplatte abgenommen bzw. die Wägebrücke
geöffnet werden.
HINWEIS
Beschädigungsgefahr für die Wägezelle aufgrund unsachgemäßer Handhabung.
▲ Die Gummimembran (1) der Wägezelle nicht berühren, nicht anspritzen und keinen
Druckluftstrahl auf sie richten.

1. Lastplatte abnehmen oder Wägebrücke öffnen, siehe Abschnitt 4.4 oder 4.5.
2. Schmutz ausblasen oder mit einem mittelkräftigen Wasserstrahl (< 2 bar) ausspülen.
3. Lastplatte wieder anbringen oder Wägebrücke schließen, siehe Abschnitt 4.4 oder4.5.

4.3 Nachbehandlung

Zum Schutz der Wägebrücke folgende Nachbehandlung durchführen:
GEFAHR
Verletzungsgefahr bei Ausfall der Gasdruckfedern.
▲ Bei aufklappbaren Lastplatten die Kolbenstangen der Gasdruckfedern nicht ölen.
➜ Wägebrücke mit klarem Wasser abspülen und Reinigungsmittel restlos entfernen.
➜ Wägebrücke mit einem fusselfreien Lappen abtrocknen.
OIL
➜ Bei Edelstahl-Wägebrücken die Innen- und Außenseiten mit einem nahrungsmittel-
verträglichen Öl behandeln. Bei aufklappbaren Lastplatten und versenkt eingebauten
Wägebrücken sicherstellen, dass auch alle beweglichen Teile und Scharniere mit Öl
behandelt werden.
4.4 Öffnen und Schließen der Lastplatte von PFK98_-C / KC...(x-T4) / KCS... (x-T4)
VORSICHT
Verletzungsgefahr aufgrund der schweren Lastplatte.
▲ Zum Abnehmen der Lastplatte stets eine zweite Person um Hilfe bitten.
▲ Beim Abnehmen der Lastplatte Handschuhe tragen.
1. Zum Abheben der Lastplatte die beiden seitlichen Handgriffe (1) nach außen kippen.

2. Die Lastplatte (2) wieder so aufsetzen, dass sich das Symbol über der Libelle
bendet.
3. Darauf achten, dass die Laststützen (3) in den Ecken der Wägebrücke senkrecht
stehen.

4.5 Öffnen und Schließen von Wägebrücken mit aufklappbarer Lastplatte
GEFAHR
Verletzungsgefahr durch zufallende Lastplatte. Quetschgefahr.
▲ Beim Ausbau der Lastplatte Schutzausrüstung tragen, z. B. Schutzhandschuhe,
Sicherheitsschuhe und Helm.
▲ Sicherstellen, dass es unter der Wägebrücke keine Ölleckagen gibt. Eine Ölleckage
ist ein Anzeichen für eine defekte Gasdruckfeder. In diesem Fall die defekten
Gasdruckfedern sofort durch den METTLER TOLEDO Service austauschen lassen.
▲ Öffnen/Schließen der Wägebrücke nur von der rechten Seite.
▲ Öffnen und Schließen der Lastplatte nur mit den mitgelieferten Werkzeugen.
▲ Sicherstellen, dass sich keine Personen im Gefahrenbereich vor oder unter der
aufgeklappten Lastplatte aufhalten, solange sich die Lastplatte nicht in der gesicherten
Stellung bendet.
▲ Sicherstellen, dass der Sicherheitskeil vor der Ausführung von Arbeiten unter der
aufgeklappten Lastplatte ordnungsgemäß montiert ist.

Wägebrücke mit aufklappbarer Lastplatte öffnen
1. Wägegut oder Aufbauten von der Lastplatte entfernen.
2. Mit einem Schraubendreher die Abdeckschraube (1) lösen.
3. Handgriff (2) im Uhrzeigersinn in das frei werdende Gewinde bis zum Anschlag
eindrehen.
4. Position rechts neben der Wägebrücke einnehmen.
5. Lastplatte mit dem Handgriff nach oben ziehen.
GEFAHR
Verletzungsgefahr durch zufallende Lastplatte.
▲ Sicherstellen, dass die Gasdruckfeder vollständig ausgefahren ist.

Die aufklappbare Lastplatte sichern

1. Auf der rechten Seite der Wägebrücke die Nut des im Lieferumfang enthaltenen
Sicherheitskeils (1) auf die Lastplatte schieben.
2. Den Sicherheitskeil bis zum Anschlag nach unten schieben.

3. Sicherstellen, dass sich die Raste (2) auf der Innenseite des Lastrahmens bendet.
Die aufgeklappte Lastplatte ist gesichert und die Reinigungs- oder Servicearbeiten können
sicher ausgeführt werden.
