COMPACT STEREO SYSTEM
30030
A compact audio system such as the DSP3200 with
an Audio Core control unit provides great performance
for the smaller room, kitchen, bathroom or studio.
Meridian DSP loudspeakers even have setup controls
to optimise where they are located: in a corner, against
a wall, free standing, etc. With stereo loudspeakers such
as the Meridian DSP3200, the best results are when the
loudspeakers are located at seated listening height and
set out as near as possible to the arrangement shown.
These compact systems can be used to greatly improve
0
TV sound, since most of the cost of a TV goes into
the screen, with little left over for good audio. The good
news is that TVs generally include a high quality audio
output to connect outboard speakers, which can make
a huge improvement.
When sitting between 6 and 8 feet (2–3m) away from
the loudspeakers, the angle between the speakers and the
centreline should be between 22 and 30 degrees each side,
with the speakers angled slightly in towards the listener.
Recommended Meridian System: DSP3200 Digital Active Loudspeakers and Audio Core 200 Control Unit.

In larger rooms, a greater sound output may be needed.
Meridian offers a range of DSP loudspeakers which
have near-identical sound quality but are designed for
different sized spaces.
Typical Meridian loudspeakers for this application might
range from the M6 Loudspeaker through the DSP5200
to the DSP7200 (small to large). These can be partnered
with an Audio Core 200, or perhaps an 808.3 Reference
Compact Disc Player or 818 Reference Audio Core.

In larger rooms where you might be sitting up to 12ft/3m
or more away from the loudspeakers, the angle between
the loudspeakers should remain at around 22-30 degrees
either side of the centreline for the optimum depth and
accuracy of sound.
Recommended System: M6, DSP5200 or DSP7200 Digital Active Loudspeakers and Audio Core 200 or
818 Reference Audio Core.

HOME THEATRE 5.1

Home Theatre systems are designed to provide the
cinema experience at home, and in sound quality terms
this can often offer a better experience than going out.
Home Theatre requires a Surround Sound processor to
generate signals to feed from 2 to 7 channels depending
on the system you want (5 channels are shown here).
The most important loudspeaker in a Home Theatre
installation is arguably the Centre Front – often a
horizontal design – which is usually located under or
behind the TV or projection screen. Subwoofers can be

added to enhance the bass sounds and ‘low frequency
effects’ – the latter constitute the ‘.1’ in the term ‘5.1’.
Meridian G61R, G68 and 861 Surround Sound
Controllers are ideal as the heart of a 5.1 system.
This layout is shown as the ideal, but as long as the
centre channel and the front pair are located as shown,
you can allow yourself more fl exibility in positioning
the rear speakers.
Recommended System: DSP3300 centre, M6, DSP5200 or DSP7200 Digital Active Loudspeakers.
