565.2 Surround System
Meridian Digital Surround Processor, has lead the field for over four years. Our vision for it’s future is the key in a combination of components that perform their roles with outstanding technical ability but that combine together seamlessly

Background
Since its introduction in July 1994, the Meridian 565 DSP Surround Processor has become widely recognized as the benchmark processor – rated Class ‘A’ by Stereophile. Among a total of 12 awards, the 565 was voted ‘Home Theatre Decoder of the Year’ by Home Entertainment in both 1995 and 1996, and it received the prestigious EISA award for ‘Home Theatre Decoder of
Until now it has been the combination of 565 and 562V (Digital Controller with Video Switching) that has provided the elegant solution - now our vision expands to separate audio and video control.
565.2 – 581 – 562.2
This is designed as a three box system with the 565 taking up the prime role as a surround sound processor, 562.2 as audio switcher and 581 as the video processor.
565.2
The Mark 2 version incorporates many new techniques and features that Meridian have developed in the design of the Meridian 561 and the AAA–rated 861 Surround processors. Such things
as PC set-up for ease of installation, digital buffering for outstanding audio quality and compatibility with new digital coding such as 96kHz and MLP.
We have also added some options allowing 565 to be configured as a full analogue and digital processor or just a digital version that fits into the Meridian Digital Theatre (MDT) concept.
All these innovations are being offered to our existing Meridian 565 customers. Even the first 565 created can be upgraded to become leader of the pack once more.
Switching Options
The 565 has often been used as part of a two box system allowing ease of use and flexibility. With video quality improving so rapidly we have decided to dedicate units for both audio and video control.
So although the 565 still has the ability to become a fully operational preamplifier, the best option is to combine the 565.2 with 562.2 for audio switching and with 581 to keep the video separate.
