But a Mercedes‑Benz actually tunes itself every few milliseconds, while you drive it. Its high ‑pressure “piezoelectric” fuel injectors atomize the gasoline into a super‑ fine, instantly variable spray. Its rapid‑multispark ignition can fire the spark plugs four times in the span of a single combustion cycle — literally lightning‑ quick. The engine’s systems constantly adapt — in concert — to atmospheric conditions, the driver’s throttle demands, even slight dif ferences in fuel quality. The result is that every C‑Class engine — from the turbocharged inline ‑4 of the C 300 to the AMG V6 and V8 biturbo engines — is always at its peak performance. And with advanced turbos that quickly spool up to more than 200,000 rpm, they’re almost always at their peak torque, too.
