AC CONNECTION
Insert the AC plug (with the 2 blades) into a conveniently-located AC outlet having 120V, 60Hz. NOTE: The AC plug supplied with the unit is polarized to help minimize the possibility of electric shock. If the AC plug does not fit into a nonpolarized AC outlet, do not file or cut the wide blade. It is the user’s responsibility to have an electrician replace the obsolete outlet.
BACKLIGHT
When the unit is operating on AC power, the LCD backlight will always be on.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
Two (2) “AA” size batteries can also be used to provide a backup for the clock and alarm time for this unit as follows:
1. Open the battery door by pushing in on the tab, then removing the door.
2. Insert two (2) “AA” batteries as shown. Alkaline batteries are recommended for the longest playing time.
3. Place the battery door back on the compartment.
NOTES:
• The batteries are used to back-up the clock time, alarm time and radio
presets when the AC cord is disconnected or there is a power failure.
Follow these precautions when using batteries in this device:
1. Use only the size and type of batteries specified.
2. Be sure to follow the correct polarity when installing the batteries as indicated in the Battery Compartment. A reversed battery may cause damage to the device.
3. Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g. Alkaline, Carbon­zinc or Rechargeable) or old batteries with fresh ones.
4. If the device is not to be used for a long period of time, remove the batteries to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage.
5. Do not try to recharge a battery not intended to be recharged; it can overheat and rupture. (Follow battery manufacturer’s directions.)

INSERTING AN IPOD

Locate the correct iPod®Adapter to use as shown on pages 16-17. Insert the adapter into the cavity (as shown), making sure the tabs are facing front, and slip the tabs into place.

If using the dock: Insert the iPod®onto
the dock. Gently push down so the connector on the iPod connector on the Mi4002. If the Mi4002 is turned off, once you connect the iPod will start charging the battery until it is full. If the Mi4002 is turned on and in AM/FM/AUX IN mode, once the iPod connected, press the iPod switch to iPod will begin automatically. Then, if you disconnect the iPod

OPERATION
USING AN IPOD®WITH THIS UNIT

With an iPod®connected (see previous page), turn the Mi4002 on by pressing the POWER button (if it is not on already); the iPod the display if the unit is in the iPod mode. NOTE: If the Mi4002 is in a mode other than iPod®, press the iPod®button to select iPod®mode.

Operate the iPod®as per its owner’s manual and the sound will be heard through the Mi4002’s speakers.

When the iPod®is inserted into the dock, you can press the TUNE Up/Down/Skip skip to the beginning of the current track/previous or next track. You can also press the PLAY/PAUSE/M-UP button to pause/resume playback.

18. After you have adjusted the volume setting, if you turn the unit off and then on again, the volume level will be set back to the default level of 18.

USING THE RADIO

Turn the Mi4002 on by pressing the Power button; “AUX” or the AM/FM frequency will appear in the display.

Repeatedly press the TUNE Up/Down/Skip advance the frequency in the display up or down until the desired frequency appears. For auto tuning, press TUNE Up/Down/Skip the frequency in the display starts to scan and then release; the tuner will search and then stop on the next strong station it finds. Repeat this step until the desired frequency appears in the display. NOTE: When a station is tuned, after five seconds, the radio frequency will disappear and the actual time will reappear in the display. If you press the DISPLAY button, the radio frequency will appear for five seconds in the display again.

SETTING THE RADIO PRESETS (10 EACH BAND)

Follow Steps 1-3 on the previous page to tune a station. Press and hold the MEMORY/CLK SET button; “P01” (if no presets have ever been set) will appear in the display (“01” will blink).

Follow Steps 1-2 on the previous page to turn the unit on and select a band.

Press the TUNE Up/Down/Skip n / o buttons 1 to select a desired
Preset (P01-P10). Press the MEMORY/CLK SET button 2 again to confirm, the preset number will blink for a few seconds then the actual time will appear in the display, and the station will be saved into memory. Repeat to program up to 10 Presets in each band, as desired.

With the power off, press the MEMORY/CLK SET button until “12Hr” or “24Hr” blinks in the display.

Press the MEMORY/CLK SET button, the actual time will flash then it will light solid, and the time will be set.

Within 15 seconds, press the TUNE Up/Down/Skip buttons to select between “12Hr” and “24Hr”. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to set the current hour (be sure to correctly select between AM and PM) and current minute.

With the power off, press either the ALARM 1 button 1 (to set Alarm 1) or ALARM 2 button

2); the currently set alarm time will appear in the display.

Repeat Step 2 to set the alarm minute. Then press the ALARM 1 2

Within 3 seconds, press and hold the ALARM 1 button 1/ALARM 2 button 2 again until the hour blinks in the display. Press the TUNE Up/Down/Skip n / o buttons 3 to set the alarm hour. (The alarm time will be in “12H” or “24H” mode depending on which you selected when you set the clock. If in”12H” mode, make sure to set the correct AM/PM setting.)

To wake to iPod®, insert the iPod®as
shown on page 7. Select iPod®mode by pressing the iPod®button. Then

select the track that you would like to wake to. When the alarm time is reached, the unit will start playback on the track that you selected and the tracks following it in the playlist. The Mi4002 will playback for 60 minutes then turn off automatically or, if the remaining playlist has less than 60 minutes of playback time remaining, the Mi4002 will just playback the remaining time of the playlist and then stop.

It is not necessary to set the volume level for the alarm. When the alarm time is reached, the alarm volume level will be set to the minimum and it will increase one step every five seconds continuously until it reaches Level 23.

If both alarms are set, while the first alarm is alarming, you will need to shut off the first alarm. Then, when the second alarm time is reached, the second alarm will activated. Otherwise, the unit will just keep alarming for the first alarm setting. After the first alarm sounds for 60 minutes, the second alarm will sound (if the second alarm is set for 60 minutes or more after the first alarm).
Make sure you have disconnected the audio cable from the AUX IN jack (rear of the unit); otherwise, there will be no sound when the actual time matches the preset alarm time.

Press the POWER button to turn off the alarm and the alarm will be set for the next day.

While the alarm is sounding, press the SNOOZE/SLEEP button, the Alarm 1 or 2 indicator will blink. The alarm will turn back on automatically 6 minutes later.

To not set the alarm for the next day, once you have turned the power off, press the ALARM 1 1 or ALARM 2 2 button (which corresponds to the alarm that was set) until "AL1" or "AL2" disappear from the display.

Every press of the SNOOZE/SLEEP button will increase the Snooze time by 6 minutes (up to 10 presses for 60 minutes).

With the unit in the AUX IN, iPod®or Radio mode, press the SNOOZE/ SLEEP button; the SLEEP indicator and "90" will appear in the display for three seconds which indicates the unit will turn off after 90 minutes. Repeatedly press the SNOOZE/SLEEP button to select the SLEEP (i.e., "20"–turns off automatically after 20 minutes, "30"–turns off automatically after 30 minutes, etc.). After five seconds, the SLEEP time will disappear from the display.

To view the remaining SLEEP time, press the SNOOZE/SLEEP button once. Repeatedly press the SNOOZE/SLEEP button to decrease the SLEEP time; each press will decrease the SLEEP time by 10 minutes.
