1 Information on instructions for use
The instructions for use are an integral part of the device and must be passed
on to all subsequent owners or users.
Please read these instructions for use carefully before use. Only through understanding these instructions for use can errors be avoided and trouble-free operation of the device guaranteed. By paying attention to the instructions for use,
hazards can be avoided, repair and breakdown costs reduced and the reliability
and durability of the device can be increased.
Retain these instructions for use for the entire lifetime of the device. The storage location must be protected against moisture. Retain the instructions for use
in a readily accessible place near the device.
Ensure that all persons who work on or with the device have read and understood the instructions for use.
The instructions for use must be available in the local language for each EU
country. If this is not the case, the device must not be commissioned.

All serious incidents relating to the product must be reported to the manufacturer and the competent authority of the Member State.

2 Liability and warranty
All of the manufacturer's obligations arise from the relevant purchase contract,
which also contains the entire and only valid guarantee provisions. These contractually guaranteed provisions shall be neither extended nor restricted as a result of any explanations given in the instructions.
If you follow these operating instructions for use, your washer-disinfector will always work to your complete satisfaction and have a long service life.
The delivered device corresponds to the state of technology and safety regulations valid at the time of production/delivery.
The information, data and notes specified in the instructions for use correspond
to the latest version at the time of printing. No claims for already delivered systems may be asserted based on these statements, illustrations and descriptions.
Claims must be reported to the manufacturers immediately after determination
of the defect or error. Liability claims for personal injury or material damage as
well as for operational problems are excluded if they are due to one or more of
the following causes:
• Unintended use.
• Improper assembly, commissioning, operation or maintenance.
• Operation of the machine or system with defective safety devices or improp-
erly attached or non-functioning safety or protective devices.
• Noncompliance with the notes in the instructions for use regarding transport,
storage, assembly, commissioning, operation and maintenance.
• Unauthorised design changes or settings on the machine or system beyond
the intended purpose.

3 Safety
3.1 Intended purpose
The washer-disinfector is intended exclusively for commercial use and may only
be applied and used according to the purpose intended. Any other use, modifications and alterations are not permitted and can lead to personal injury and
damage to property.
Only use the washer-disinfector for emptying, cleaning and disinfecting:
• Bedpans, commode buckets and their covers
• Urine bottles
• Hospital containers, e.g. bowls, urine collecting containers
• Suction bottles
• Similar products as listed above, used for similar purposes.
It is intended that the washer-disinfector is only operated by qualified, trained
personnel, older than 14 years of age. Detailing the user group and their qualifications, see page 10.
Environment where the appliance is used:
• Preferably non-sterile utility rooms.
• Appliances for installation in ensuite bathrooms of patient rooms in an en-
closed space.
Only use rinse/water softening agents and detergents in our washer-disinfectors
for which MEIKO have given their written approval.
Approved products:
• Rinse aid/water softener: Doyen SK 22 E / SK 33 E
• Detergent: Doyen R 100 / RS 120

3.2 Foreseeable misuse
Any use which is not detailed in the section on "Intended purpose" is contrary to
the intended use!
List of foreseeable misuses:
• Emptying of care utensils, although the holder is still equipped with freshly
disinfected care utensils.
• Inserting care utensils incorrectly.
• Insertion of unsuitable utensils and objects (tableware).
• Disinfection of objects for which a different method of preparation is stipu-
lated e.g. instruments.
• Heating objects or keeping them warm (hot water bottles, pre-packaged
food, etc.)
• Used for rubbish disposal e.g. garbage, nappies (diapers), disposable
gloves, syringes etc.). This also applies to excessive volumes of cellulose
and disposable care utensils.
• Activating the controls with pointed or sharp objects.
• Operation by untrained persons.
• Use of incorrect or non-approved process chemicals.
• Installing the canisters of process chemicals (rinse aid/water softener) at an
angle after the system warned that the chemicals had run out (consequence:
the appliance operates without chemicals and lime scale can be deposited).
• Filling the process chemical canisters with different liquid.
• Failure to observe the specified maintenance cycles.
• Use of the wash chamber door as a ladder or seat.

3.3 Requirements for the personnel
• Make sure that only trained and experienced staff operate the washer-disinfector.
• Personnel who have not been briefed or trained may not handle the washerdisinfector.
• Make sure that staff learning to use the washer-disinfector are supervised by
a trained and experienced operator at all times.
• Clearly define the staff's responsibilities.
• Confirm training in writing.

3.4 Safety information
• Only use the washer-disinfector according to instructions (see page 8).
• Only use the washer-disinfector in its original condition without independent
changes and in a technically perfect condition.
• The electrical safety of this machine is only ensured if it is connected to a
system with a properly installed protective earth conductor system. It is very
important to verify this fundamental safety feature. If in doubt, have the local
wiring checked by an electrician. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for
damage caused due to the protective earth conductor being missing or disconnected (e.g. electric shock).
• The washer-disinfector does not generate targeted non-ionizing radiation.
For technical reasons, only the electric appliances emit non-ionizing radiation. In the immediate vicinity of the washer-disinfector, the influence of active implants (e.g. cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators) can be ruled out with a
high degree of probability.
• Before opening the inspection door, make sure the appliance has been disconnected from the power supply and secured so that it cannot be turned on
again; this also applies to other work on the appliance.
• Do not place the washer-disinfector in a potentially explosive atmosphere or
in areas subject to frost.
• If the washer-disinfector is damaged or leaking, this may be dangerous and
pose a safety hazard. Immediately decommission the washer-disinfector and
inform the MEIKO service.
• The water in the wash chamber and in the water container is NOT safe to
drink.
• Take care when handling dosing agents (water softeners/rinsing aids and
detergents). They are corrosive substances. Observe the applicable safety
regulations! Use safety eyeware and protective gloves. Observe the manufacturer's safety instructions and safety data sheets when dealing with dosing agents.
• Do not sit or stand on the opened wash chamber door. This could damage
the washer-disinfector and cause injury.
• Keep the instructions for use legible and complete on the washer-disinfector.
• Make sure that the instructions for use are available to anyone operating the
washer-disinfector.
• Observe the instructions for use for accessories and integrated third-party
components.
• Do not put any objects on the washer-disinfector.
• Observe the installation conditions (see page 20).

• In dangerous situations, disconnect from the power supply using the locally available mains isolator.
3.5 Electromagnetic compatibility
• MEIKO washer-disinfectors, built according to the standard CISPR 11:2009
Section 5, are class A appliances.
The following applies for these appliances:
Warning:
This appliance may cause radio interference or may interfere with
the operation of appliances in the vicinity. It may be necessary to
take appropriate remedial action, such as realigning, rearranging or
shielding.
• MEIKO washer-disinfectors with additional mains filter, built according to the
standard CISPR 11:2009 Section 5, are class B appliances. No further actions are required for these appliances.
3.6 What to do in the event of an emergency

4.2 Functional description
The washer-disinfector serves the emptying, cleaning and disinfecting of:
• Bedpans, commode buckets and their covers
• Urine bottles
• Hospital containers, e.g. bowls, urine collecting containers
• Suction bottles
• Similar products as listed above, used for similar purposes.
Equipping the appliance
The care utensil is inserted into the holder, which is located on the inside of the
wash chamber door. This makes sure that the care utensils are in the correct
position for cleaning. The arrangement of the wash nozzles in the wash chamber guarantees perfect cleaning if the care utensils are positioned correctly.
When the wash chamber door is closed, the inserted containers are emptied
and the care utensils are moved into the cleaning position. The wash chamber
door is locked. The operator selects a cleaning programme on the membrane
key pad and presses the programme start key. An automatic programme start
after closing the wash chamber door can be set.
Appliances with automatic wash chamber door (option) additionally allow touchfree operation.
Programme run
The cleaning programme includes four phases:
• Precleaning with cold water.
• Cleaning with hot water.
• Thermal disinfection of the care utensil.
• Recooling and drying of the care utensils.
Thermal disinfection and recooling
Thermal disinfection works according to the A0 process. The term A0 refers to a
way of measuring (duration/temperature) how microorganisms are eliminated by
moist heat disinfection methods. Thermal disinfection is fulfilled when the preset
A0 value is reached on all surfaces to be disinfected.

5 Recooling/drying
In order to lower the temperature of the care utensils, a recooling step is carried
out. In this process, the high temperature is reduced with cool, filtered air and
the care utensils are dried.
At the end of the programme, the wash chamber door is unlocked. The care
utensils can be removed and must be visually checked by the operator.
The disinfection capability complies with the capability required DIN ISO 15883
Part 3, ”Requirements for and Testing of Cleaning/disinfection appliances using
Thermal Disinfection for Containers for Human Excreta” which specifies a mini-
mum A0 value of 60.

4.4 Options
4.4.1 Detergent dosing
An additional dosage of a detergent is recommended for heavily soiled care
utensils. The detergent dosing comprises a complete dosing system (suction
lance, hoses, dosing monitoring and dosing unit), which is installed in the appliance.

Washer-disinfectors are intended for fixed connection to the electrical
power supply and connection to the on-site equipotential bonding and
are accordingly equipped with a connection option.
The operator can decide at his/her own discretion and under his/her
own responsibility to alternatively implement personal protection in collaboration with a licensed electrician company using:
• Fault current circuit breaker sensitive to universal current with max.
30 mA EN 62423
or
• Automatic shut-down of the supply when the protective earth conductor for the consistency is lost (EN 60204-1 Chap. 8.2.8.c)
The requirements for limiting voltage changes, fluctuations and flicker in
accordance with DIN EN 61000-3-11 for the washer-disinfectors are fulfilled if the network has a current-carrying capacity of ≥ 100 A.

WARNING – Trapping in wash chamber door
• When opening and closing the wash chamber door, make sure that nothing
is trapped in the door.

8.2.4 Automatic door (AT), operation with sensor (option)
All AT (Automatic Door) models are equipped with a sensor which allows the
wash chamber door to be open and shut automatically.
Depending on the presetting of the washer-disinfector, the cleaning programme
starts automatically after the door is closed.
• To open and close the door, place your hand briefly 2-8 cm in front of the
sensor.
• Select/start programme.
8.2.5 Automatic door (AT), operation with foot switch (option)
The door of the washer-disinfector can also be opened by means of a foot
switch. Depending on the presetting of the washer-disinfector, the cleaning programme starts automatically after the door is closed.

The A0-Value can be increased up to 3000 in predefined steps for a one-time

In addition to the described one-time increase of the A0 value, the appliance optionally offers the possibility to temporarily increase the A0 value for several/all
appliance in a building via a central external control system, e.g. in case of a
pandemic.

10 Maintenance and cleaning
WARNING – Danger to life from electric shock
Contact with live electrical parts on the appliance may result in serious injury
or death.
• Work on the electrical system must be conducted by a qualified electrician
who complies with the electrotechnical rules.
• Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before working on the electrical system. To do this, turn the local mains switch to OFF and ensure that
it cannot be switched back on again.
• After switching off the repair switch the mains connection terminals are live!
CAUTION – Material damage due to water ingress
• Never clean the washer-disinfector, control cabinets and electronic components with water hose, high pressure cleaner or steam cleaner.
10.1 Maintenance
Regular maintenance is a prerequisite for the long-term reliable and safe operation of a washer-disinfector. Maintenance which is neglected or improperly carried out increases the residual risk of unforeseen damage to property and persons, for which no liability will then be assumed.
For Austria, maintenance is equivalent to the periodic safety inspection, according to ÖMPG and ÖMPBV.
Maintenance must be carried out:
• When the message No. 3 Perform maintenance is displayed.
• After every 5000 cleaning cycles (factory setting, can be adjusted if re-
quired).
• At lease once a year (see Next maintenance sticker on the washer-disinfec-
tor).
Maintenance includes the following:
• Electrical safety according to VDE 0701/0702 (test report optional in Germany)

10.1.1 "Next maintenance" sticker
The "Next maintenance" sticker shows when the next scheduled maintenance
of the washer-disinfector is required.
10.2 Process validation
The operator must ensure the adequate performance of the cleaning and disinfection procedures in the routine. In some countries this is also required by national laws, regulations or recommendations.
10.3 Routine check
Routine checks must be arranged by the operator on a daily basis before starting work.
The following points must be checked visually:
• The cleaning nozzles in the wash chamber (completeness and damage).
• The wash chambers (dirt).
• The holder (damage and holding of the utensils).
• The canisters (fill level and suitable chemicals)
• Error and warning indicator in the display (inform accordingly in case of er-
ror)

10.4 Daily cleaning
CAUTION – Material damage due to incorrect cleaning
Cleaning of parts made of stainless steel with unsuitable cleaning agents,
care products and cleaning utensils leads to damage, deposits or discolourations on the appliance.
• Never use aggressive cleaning or scouring agents.
• Never use cleaning agents that contain hydrochloride acid or bleaches
based on chlorine.
• Do not use cleaning utensils previously used to clean non-stainless steel.
If the washer-disinfector is not used on a daily basis, start the programme once
a day or let it run automatically with the time switch (see service instructions).
• Clean the outside of the washer-disinfector, especially the door handle and
membrane key pad, once a day. Only clean stainless steel with detergents
suitable for stainless steel.
• Make sure that detergents do not attack the material, do not form coatings
and do not discolour the material.
• Never clean the washer-disinfector with water hose, high pressure cleaner or
steam cleaner.
• Only clean wash chamber seal with water or soap.
10.5 De-scaling
CAUTION – Destruction of plastic parts and seals from residues of de-
scaling agent
• Completely flush the descaling agent out of the wash chamber.
• Lime deposits (discolouration) in the wash chamber should be sprayed with
a commercially available liquid descaler (e.g. based on 10 - 20% citric acid
or phosphoric acid).
• Mechanical treatment with a brush or cloth is necessary. Do not use steel
brushes. Observe the manufacturer's safety instructions and take suitable
protective measures (protective gloves and safety eyeware, disposable
apron if necessary).
• After a short application time (5 minutes), close the wash chamber door and
immediately start a cleaning programme. This rinses the wash chamber.

11 Behaviour when the appliance is not in use
The washer-disinfector uses and processes water. Non-use for several days
leads to the pipe system becoming contaminated.
To avoid contamination:
• Enable time switch programme see page 49.
• programme the time switch programme to start a programme every day.
• If not used for a longer period, manually empty the pipe system.
– Have the pipe system manually drained by a trained in-house technician
or MEIKO Service, see service instructions.

13 Dismantling and disposal
In addition to valuable raw materials and recyclable materials, the packaging
and the old device may also contain substances that are harmful to health and
the environment and were required for the function and safety of the old device.

your dealer or the collection points set up in your community for information regarding the disposal of your old device.
13.1 Disposal of packaging materials
All the packaging materials are recyclable. The following materials are used:
• Square timber frame
• Plastic sheeting (PE film)
• Foam
• Cardboard packaging (edge protection)
• Packaging strap (steel strip)
• Packaging strap (plastic (PP))
• Transport safety bracket (stainless steel)

Note
The square timber frame consists of untreated raw pine / spruce. In
order to guard against pests, country-specific import regulations
may also stipulate the use of treated wood.
The appliance is marked with this symbol. Please observe
the local regulations for proper disposal of your old appliance.
The components should be separated by material for recycling.
13.2 Disposal of the old appliance
• Old appliances may be contaminated by human excreta, other body fluids,
pathogenic germs and other substances. For this reason, old appliances
must be decontaminated before disposal.
• Old appliances must be rendered unusable after professional removal in order to prevent subsequent accidents.
• Residues of process chemicals must be disposed of in compliance with
safety regulations. Use safety eyeware and protective gloves.
