Initial settings
It is advisable to set the following before initiating a test:
n Set date and time – time/date option n Adjust the display backlight for optimum legibility –
display setup option
n Select units – metric or imperial
Care of batteries
Customers should be mindful of the need to maintain battery capacity. As a minimum, lead acid batteries should be fully charged every 3 months. Customers with NiMH battery option are advised to operate from battery without line power periodically to exercise the battery. Batteries have a finite lifetime and are only replaceable at Megger authorised repair centres.
Care of instrument
n Always keep the instrument clean and free from dust
and fibrous material
n Cleanliness of the test chamber is very important n Cleaning the test vessel is mandatory and a thorough
clean must be done daily/weekly depending on frequency of testing
n Introducing fibres or other particles into the test
vessel will result in erroneous breakdown values. A small volume of a test sample can be used to rinse out remnants of old oil
n If there is any damage to the test vessel, chamber or
lid, the instrument should be repaired by a Megger authorised repair facility
