Indications for use
Instrument trays are intended to provide a general conguration to organize, store,
protect and transport medical devices for use in surgical procedures.
Precautions
If you choose to use the instrument tray as part of a sterilization system for
reprocessing devices:
• Ensure that you validate the tray within your internal processes and systems.
• Follow all instructions for sterilization of the device(s) you are reprocessing.
• Gravity Steam sterilization must not be used for instrument trays as cycle times
would be exceedingly long.
• STERRAD processing must not be used for Medtronic Xomed instrument trays.
• Instrument Trays are not intended to provide a sterile barrier to prevent recontamination of sterilized instruments; and must be double wrapped in hospital
CSR wrap for this process to maintain the sterility of the instruments contained
inside the tray.
• Remove instruments, loose internal tray components and lid prior to cleaning
instruments and/or tray.
• Medtronic recommends incineration of devices that have directly contacted
patients suspected or conrmed with Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy
(TSE)/ CJD diagnosis. NHS Estates HTM 2010 Parts 4 & 6: Appendix 2, Items
contaminated with TSE Agents and WHO Infection Control Guidelines for
Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies refers to a TSE decontamination cycle
using a steam autoclave at a temperature of 134-137°C for a single cycle of 18
minutes or repeated for a total of six 3-minute cycles.
• When applying dry times to Medtronic instrument trays and their accessories, dry
times outside the standard healthcare prevacuum parameters may be required.
The current recommended dry times may range from a standard 15 minutes to
an extended time of 40 minutes. This is especially important for polymer-based
(plastic) instrument trays. The user should have adequate means to verify drying
time, such as visual inspection.
Cleaning
Note: To minimize water spotting, using deionized water for the nal rinse is
recommended. If practical, deionized water may be used for the entire cleaning
process.
Automated cleaning
All trays shall be thoroughly rinsed with water prior to placement in the automatic
washer.
Remove instruments and equipment from any instrument trays before placing into
washer baskets. Orient devices following recommendations of washer/disinfector
manufacturers.
Use neutral pH detergent recommended by washer/disinfector or detergent
manufacturers.

Manual cleaning
Soak in lukewarm (less than 43°C), mild (pH 7.0 - 8.5), enzymatic detergent and water
for a minimum of 2 minutes. Use a soft instrument brush to scrub instrument trays
while submerged in cleaning solution to remove organic matter. Rinse with water,
then clean ultrasonically in a lukewarm (less than 43°C), mild (pH 7.0 - 8.5), detergent
and water for 10 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly with water. Clean in this manner until no visible soil remains on the
instrument tray.
Dry with compressed air, or wipe dry with a lint-free cloth. Examine instrument trays
for any staining or deterioration; remove from use as appropriate.
Note: When using an ultrasonic cleaner or a spray washing machine, follow the
manufacturer’s recommendations for positioning of instrument trays.
Following cleaning, lightly lubricate instrument trays with movable parts. Use a
lubricant intended for sterilizable instruments such as a water-soluble instrument milk.
Do not use silicone spray.

Limited warranty
A. This LIMITED WARRANTY provides assurance for the customer who purchases a
Medtronic Xomed Product (hereinafter the “Product”) that should the Product fail
to function to Medtronic Xomed’s published specications during the term of this
LIMITED WARRANTY (one year from the date of shipment for new Product, 90 days
from date of shipment for refurbished or used Product), Medtronic Xomed will
either replace, repair, or issue a credit (adjusted to reect the age of the Product) for
the Product or any portion thereof. This LIMITED WARRANTY is extended only to the
buyer purchasing the Product directly from Medtronic Xomed or from its aliate or
its authorized distributor or representative.
B. To qualify for this LIMITED WARRANTY, the following conditions must be met:
1. The Product must be used on or before its “Use By” or “Use Before” date, if
applicable.
2. The Product must be used in accordance with its labeling and may not be
altered or subjected to misuse, abuse, accident or improper handling.
3. Medtronic Xomed must be notied in writing within thirty (30) days following
discovery of a defect.
4. The Product must be returned to Medtronic Xomed within thirty (30) days of
Medtronic Xomed receiving notice as provided for in (3) above.
5. Upon examination of the Product by Medtronic Xomed, Medtronic Xomed
shall have determined that: (i) the Product was not repaired or altered by
anyone other than Medtronic Xomed or its authorized representative, (ii) the
Product was not operated under conditions other than normal use, and (iii)
the prescribed periodic maintenance and services have been performed on
the Product.
C. This LIMITED WARRANTY is limited to its express terms. THIS LIMITED WARRANTY IS
IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WHETHER STATUTORY
OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR
FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. In no event shall Medtronic Xomed be liable
for any consequential, incidental, prospective or other similar damage resulting
from a defect, failure, or malfunction of the Product, whether a claim for such
damage is based upon the warranty, contract, negligence or otherwise.
D. The exclusions and limitations set out above are not intended to, and should not
be construed so as to, contravene mandatory provisions of applicable law. Users
may benet from statutory warranty rights under legislation governing the sale of
consumer goods. If any part or term of this LIMITED WARRANTY is held by any court
of competent jurisdiction to be illegal, unenforceable, or in conict with applicable
law, the validity of the remaining portion of the LIMITED WARRANTY shall not be
aected, and all rights and obligations shall be construed and enforced as if this
LIMITED WARRANTY did not contain the particular part or term held to be invalid.

Précautions d’utilisation

with TSE Agents and WHO Infection Control Guidelines for Transmissible
Spongiform Encephalopathies (Éléments contaminés par les agents EST et le guide

Nettoyage
Remarque : Pour minimiser les taches d’eau, il est recommandé d’utiliser de l’eau
déionisée pour le rinçage nal. Si possible, utiliser de l’eau déionisée pour tout le
processus de nettoyage.
Nettoyage automatisé
Tous les plateaux doivent être soigneusement rincés sous l’eau avant d’être placés
dans l’appareil de lavage automatique.
Retirer les instruments et accessoires des plateaux à instruments avant de les
placer dans les paniers de l’appareil de lavage. Orienter les instruments selon les
recommandations du fabricant de l’appareil de lavage/désinfection.
Utiliser le détergent à pH neutre recommandé par les fabricants du désinfectant ou de
l’appareil de lavage/désinfection.

Nettoyage manuel
Tremper dans une solution tiède (moins de 43 °C) d’eau et de détergent enzymatique
doux (pH 7,0 - 8,5) pendant au moins 2 minutes. Utiliser une brosse à instruments
douce pour frotter les plateaux à instruments pendant l’immersion dans la solution
nettoyante et éliminer les résidus organiques. Rincer avec de l’eau, puis nettoyer dans
un bain ultrasonique d’eau tiède (moins de 43 °C) additionnée d’un détergent doux
(pH 7,0-8,5) pendant 10 minutes.
Rincer abondamment à l’eau. Nettoyer ainsi jusqu’à la disparition complète des résidus
sur le plateau à instruments.
Sécher à l’air comprimé ou essuyer à l’aide d’un tissu dépourvu de peluches. Examiner
les plateaux à instruments à la recherche de taches ou de signes de détérioration et les
mettre au rebut si nécessaire.
Remarque : En cas d’utilisation d’un nettoyeur à ultrasons ou d’un appareil de lavage
à aspersion, suivre les recommandations du fabricant pour positionner les plateaux à
instruments.
Après le nettoyage, lubrier légèrement les plateaux à instruments dotés de parties
mobiles. Utiliser un lubriant prévu pour les instruments stérilisables tel qu’un lait à
instruments soluble à l’eau. Ne pas utiliser de silicone en aérosol.

Indicazioni per l’uso
I vassoi per strumenti hanno lo scopo di fornire una congurazione generale per
organizzare, conservare, proteggere, trasportare dispositivi medici per l’uso in
procedure chirurgiche.
Precauzioni
Se si sceglie di utilizzare il vassoio per strumenti come parte di un sistema di
sterilizzazione per dispositivi di ritrattamento:
• Assicurarsi di convalidare il vassoio ai sensi dei processi e dei sistemi interni.
• Seguire tutte le istruzioni per la sterilizzazione del dispositivo in caso di
ritrattamento.
• La sterilizzazione a vapore mediante gravità non deve essere utilizzata per i vassoi
per strumenti, in quanto i tempi di ciclo sarebbero estremamente lunghi.
• La procedura STERRAD non deve essere utilizzata per vassoi per strumenti
Medtronic Xomed.
• I vassoi per strumenti non sono destinati a fornire una barriera sterile per impedire
la ricontaminazione di strumenti sterilizzati e devono essere avvolti in un doppio
involucro sterile (CSR) per ospedale idoneo a questo processo per mantenere la
sterilità degli strumenti contenuti all’interno del vassoio.

• Medtronic consiglia di ricorrere all’incenerimento di quei dispositivi che siano
stati a diretto contatto con pazienti con diagnosi sospetta o confermata di TSE
(Encefalopatia Spongiforme Trasmissibile) o CJD. Le NHS Estates HTM 2010 Parti
4 & 6: Appendice 2, Items contaminated with TSE Agents and WHO Infection
Control Guidelines for Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (Elementi

Pulizia manuale
Immergere in una soluzione composta da detergente enzimatico tiepido (meno di

strumenti.

Utilizzare un lubricante indicato per gli strumenti sterilizzabili quale, ad esempio, latte
chirurgico idrosolubile. Non utilizzare spray al silicone.

• Alle Anweisungen in Bezug auf die Sterilisation von wiederaufzubereitenden
Geräten befolgen.

• Die Schwerkraft-Dampfsterilisation darf für Instrumentenschalen nicht eingesetzt
werden, da die Zykluszeiten extrem lang wären.
• Die STERRAD-Wiederaufbereitung darf für Medtronic Xomed-Instrumentenschalen
nicht eingesetzt werden.
• Die Instrumentenschalen dienen nicht als sterile Barriere, um die Rekontaminierung
von sterilisierten Instrumenten zu verhindern; sie müssen für diesen Prozess mit
Umhüllungen der zentralen Sterilgutversorgung des Krankenhauses doppelt
verpackt werden, um die Sterilität der Instrumente in der Schale zu gewährleisten.
• Instrumente, lockere interne Komponenten der Schale und den Deckel vor der
Reinigung der Instrumente und/oder der Schale entfernen.
• Medtronic empehlt die Verbrennung von Geräten, die in direkten Kontakt

diagnostiziert wurde. Die Vorschriften des staatlichen Gesundheitssystems in
Großbritannien NHS Estates, HTM 2010, Teile 4 & 6: Anhang 2, Items contaminated
with TSE Agents and WHO Infection Control Guidelines for Transmissible
Spongiform Encephalopathies (Mit TSE-Erregern kontaminierte Komponenten
und die Richtlinien der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) für übertragbare
spongiforme Enzephalopathien) sehen ein TSE-Dekontaminationsprogramm vor,
das eine Dampfsterilisation bei einer Temperatur von 134–137 °C beinhaltet, die
entweder in einem einzelnen Programmzyklus über 18 Minuten oder in sechs
3-minütigen Programmzyklen durchzuführen ist.
• Die Trockenzeiten für Medtronic-Instrumentenschalen und deren Zubehör könnten
die sonst üblichen Zeiträume der Vorvakuum-Sterilisierung im Gesundheitsbereich
überschreiten. Die momentan empfohlenen Trockenzeiten reichen von den
üblichen 15 Minuten bis hin zu 40 Minuten. Dies ist besonders für polymerbasierte
(Kunststo-)Instrumentenschalen von Bedeutung. Der Anwender sollte in der Lage
sein, die Trockenzeit angemessen z. B. durch Sichtkontrolle zu verizieren.
Reinigung
Hinweis: Zur Vermeidung von Wasserecken wird die Verwendung von deionisiertem
Wasser für die abschließende Spülung empfohlen. Deionisiertes Wasser ggf. für den
gesamten Reinigungsprozess verwenden.
Automatisierte Reinigung
Alle Schalen sollten vor der Platzierung in einem automatischen Reinigungsgerät
gründlich mit Wasser gespült werden.
Sterilisationsschalen erst in die Reinigungskörbe legen, wenn alle Instrumente und
Zubehör aus den Sterilisationsschalen entfernt wurden. Die Instrumente gemäß den
Herstellerempfehlungen des Reinigungs-/Sterilisationsgeräts ausrichten.
Ein pH-neutrales Reinigungsmittel verwenden, das vom Hersteller des Reinigungs-/
Desinfektionsgeräts oder des Reinigungsmittels empfohlen wird.

Manuelle Reinigung
Die Instrumente mindestens zwei Minuten lang in einer lauwarmen (maximal 43 °C)
Lösung aus einem milden (pH-Wert 7,0–8,5), enzymatischen Reinigungsmittel und
Wasser einweichen lassen. Die in Reinigungslösung eingelegten Instrumentenschalen
mit einer weichen Instrumentenbürste von organischem Material säubern. Die
Instrumentenschale mit Wasser abspülen und anschließend mindestens 10 Minuten
lang mit Ultraschall in einer lauwarmen (maximal 43 °C) Lösung aus mildem (pH-Wert
7,0–8,5) Reinigungsmittel und Wasser reinigen.
Gründlich mit Wasser spülen. Die Reinigung auf diese Weise weiterführen, bis keine
Schmutzreste an der Instrumentenschale mehr sichtbar sind.
Mit Druckluft trocknen oder mit einem fusselfreien Tuch trocken wischen. Die
Instrumentenschalen auf Flecken oder Verschleiß überprüfen und gegebenenfalls
außer Gebrauch nehmen.
Hinweis: Bei Verwendung einer Ultraschallreinigungsanlage oder
Sprühwaschmaschine den Empfehlungen des Herstellers folgen, besonders im
Hinblick auf die Positionierung von Instrumentenschalen.
Instrumentenschalen mit beweglichen Teilen nach dem Reinigen leicht abschmieren.
Ein für sterilisierbare Instrumente geeignetes Schmiermittel wie z. B. wasserlösliche
Instrumentenmilch verwenden. Kein Silikonspray verwenden.

Precauciones
Si opta por utilizar la bandeja de instrumentos como parte de un sistema de
esterilización para el reprocesamiento de dispositivos:

en un único ciclo de 18 minutos o repitiendo seis ciclos de 3 minutos cada uno.
• Al aplicar tiempos de secado a las bandejas de instrumentos y sus accesorios de
Medtronic, pueden ser necesarios tiempos de secado fuera de los parámetros
de prevacío sanitario estándar. Los tiempos de secado que se recomiendan en
la actualidad oscilan entre un tiempo estándar 15 minutos hasta un tiempo
ampliado de 40 minutos. Esto es especialmente importante en el caso de bandejas
de instrumentos basadas en polímero (plástico). El usuario debe disponer de los
medios adecuados para vericar el tiempo de secado, como la inspección visual.
Limpieza
Nota: Se recomienda utilizar agua desionizada en el enjuague nal para minimizar las
manchas provocadas por el agua. Si resulta práctico, puede usarse agua desionizada
para todo el proceso de limpieza.
Limpieza automática
Todas las bandejas deben enjuagarse bien con agua antes de su colocación en el
equipo de lavado automático.
Retire el instrumental y el equipo de las bandejas de instrumentos antes de colocarlos
en los contenedores del equipo de lavado. Oriente los dispositivos conforme a las
recomendaciones del fabricante del equipo de lavado/desinfección.
Utilice un detergente con pH neutro recomendado por los fabricantes del equipo de
lavado/desinfección o del detergente.

Sumerja el instrumental en una solución tibia (temperatura inferior a 43 °C) de
detergente enzimático suave (pH de 7,0-8,5) y agua durante 2 minutos como mínimo.
Utilice un cepillo de cerdas blandas para cepillar las bandejas de instrumentos
mientras se encuentran sumergidas en la solución de limpieza para eliminar la
materia orgánica. Aclárelas con agua, límpielas mediante ultrasonidos en una solución
templada (menos de 43 °C) de detergente suave (pH 7,0-8,5) y agua durante 10
minutos como mínimo.
Enjuague exhaustivamente con agua. Proceda a limpiar de este modo hasta que no
queden restos de suciedad visible en la bandeja de instrumentos.

Seque con aire comprimido o con un paño que no desprenda pelusa. Examine
las bandejas de instrumentos con el n de detectar posibles manchas o signos de
deterioro; retírelo del servicio si fuese necesario.
Nota: Cuando utilice un aparato de limpieza por ultrasonidos o una lavadora por
pulverización, siga las recomendaciones del fabricante para la colocación de las
bandejas de instrumentos.
Después de la limpieza, lubrique ligeramente las bandejas de instrumentos con piezas
móviles. Utilice un lubricante válido para instrumental esterilizable, como lubricante
vegetal hidrosoluble para instrumental. No utilice un pulverizador de silicona.

Indicaties voor gebruik
Instrumententrays zijn bedoeld als algemene conguratie om medische hulpmiddelen
te ordenen, te bewaren, te beschermen en te transporteren voor gebruik tijdens
chirurgische procedures.
Voorzorgsmaatregelen
Het volgende is van toepassing als u ervoor kiest de instrumententray te gebruiken in
een sterilisatiesysteem voor het opnieuw steriliseren van hulpmiddelen:
• Zorg ervoor dat de tray wordt gevalideerd binnen de interne processen en
systemen van uw instelling.
• Volg alle sterilisatie-instructies voor de hulpmiddelen die u opnieuw steriliseert.
• Stoomsterilisatie met zwaartekracht mag niet gebruikt worden voor
instrumententrays omdat de cyclustijden buitensporig lang zijn.
• STERRAD-verwerking mag niet gebruikt worden voor Medtronic Xomedinstrumententrays.
• Instrumententrays zijn niet bedoeld als steriele barrière om te voorkomen dat
steriele instrumenten opnieuw worden besmet. Trays moeten voor de sterilisatie
worden verpakt in een dubbele laag CSR-wikkel om de steriliteit van de
instrumenten in de tray te behouden.
• Verwijder instrumenten, losse interne componenten van de tray en het deksel vóór
het reinigen van de instrumenten en/of de tray.
• Medtronic adviseert om de producten te verbranden die direct in contact
zijn geweest met patiënten bij wie de diagnose TSE/CJD wordt vermoed of is
bevestigd. NHS Estates HTM 2010 Deel 4 & 6: Bijlage 2, Items contaminated with
TSE Agents and WHO Infection Control Guidelines for Transmissible Spongiform
Encephalopathies (Met TSE-agentia besmette items en WHO-richtlijnen voor
infectiebestrijding voor overdraagbare spongiforme encefalopathieën) verwijst
naar een TSE-ontsmettingscyclus met behulp van een stoomautoclaaf bij een
temperatuur van 134 tot 137 °C gedurende één cyclus van 18 minuten of herhaald
gedurende in totaal zes cycli van 3 minuten.
• Bij het toepassen van droogtijden op instrumententrays en bijbehorende
accessoires van Medtronic, kunnen andere droogtijden nodig zijn dan de
standaardparameters voor prevacuüm in de gezondheidszorg. De huidige
aanbevolen droogtijden kunnen variëren van een standaardperiode van 15
minuten tot een langere periode van 40 minuten. Dit is vooral belangrijk
voor instrumententrays van polymeer (plastic). De gebruiker dient voldoende
mogelijkheden te hebben om de droogtijd te controleren, zoals visuele inspectie.
Reiniging
Opmerking: om watervlekken tot een minimum te beperken wordt het gebruik van
gedeïoniseerd water bij de laatste keer afspoelen aanbevolen. Indien het handiger is,
mag er voor de hele reinigingsprocedure gedeïoniseerd water gebruikt worden.
Automatische reiniging
Alle trays dienen grondig te worden afgespoeld met water voordat u ze in de
wasmachine plaatst.
Haal instrumenten en apparatuur uit de instrumentenbakjes voordat u ze in
afwasmachinemandjes plaatst. Houd u bij het plaatsen van de apparaten aan de
aanbevelingen van de fabrikant van de afwasmachine/desinfector.
Gebruik een pH-neutraal reinigingsmiddel dat wordt aanbevolen door de fabrikant
van de afwasmachine/desinfector of het reinigingsmiddel.
