DESCRI PTION

e Yingling Monopolar Stimulating Probe is constructed of an insulated
brass sha to which a exible, insulated platinum-iridium wire is attached.
e wire terminates in an 0.5 mm diameter uninsulated ball tip. e probe
handle is equipped with a 2 meter cable ending with a connector.

INTENDED USE

is device is intended for use as an intraoperative motor nerve stimulator
with the Medtronic Xomed Nerve Integrity Monitor (NIM®). It may be
used with other EMG Monitors equipped with Active Audio and (or) Visual
current-delivered feedback systems.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

1. Insert the large end of the probe into the handle assembly. Insert rmly
to prevent the probe from dislodging and falling from the handle during
the procedure.

2. Plug the connector end of the handle assembly into the cathode (-) con­nection on the NIM® Patient Interface.

3. Place a subdermal EMG needle electrode in the desired location to serve
as the ground, or anode (+) for the stimulator.

4. Remove the protective cover from the tip of the probe when it is ready for
use. It is recommended that this cover be kept and replaced on the tip of
the probe between uses to prevent accidental damage to the tip.

5. Verify prior to use that the probe delivers current at the intended setting
as evidenced by the EMG monitor’s audio and/or visual current delivered
feedback system.

CAUTION

• To ensure delivery of current to intended tissues, use only with EMG
monitor(s) equipped with active audio and/or visual current delivered
feedback systems.

• Use care when exing the wire of the Yingling Probe. Over-exing could
result in damage to the probe and discontinuity of the stimulating current.

• Do not handle the insulted platinum-iridium wire with surgical forceps,
scissors, or other surgical instruments. is action may either break the
wire or strip it of its insulation, causing shunting of current away from
the stimulating tip.

DESCRI PTION

La sonde de stimulation monopolaire de Yingling est constituée d’une tige
en laiton isolée à laquelle est attaché un l de platine-iridium isolé. Le l se
termine par un embout rond non-isolé de 0,5 mm de diamètre. Le manche
de la sonde est muni d’un câble de 2 mètres, terminé par une prise.

UTILIS ATION PRE VUE

Cet appareil est destiné à une stimulation peropératoire de nerf moteur avec
le moniteur d’intégrité nerveuse Medtronic Xomed. Il peut également être
utilisé avec d’autres moniteurs EMG munis de systèmes actifs sonores et (ou)
visuels d’indication de passage du courant.

INDIC ATIONS

Ce dispositif est préconisé dans la localisation intra-opératoire de nerfs moteurs.

CONTRE-INDICATIONS

Aucune contre-indication connue.

MODE D’ EMPLOI

1. Insérez la partie large de la sonde dans l’assemblage du manche. Insérez-la
fermement pour empêcher la sonde de se déloger et de tomber du manche
pendant l’opération.

2. Branchez la prise de l’extrémité de l’assemblage du manche dans le bran­chement de la cathode (-) sur l’interface patient du NIM®.

3. Placez une électrode-aiguille hypodermique EMG à l’endroit souhaité en
guise de terre ou d’anode (+) pour le stimulateur.

4. Enlever la protection de l’embout de la sonde lorsqu’elle est prête à l’emploi.
Il est conseillé de conserver la protection et de la replacer sur l’embout
de la sonde entre les utilisations an d’éviter un dommage accidentel de
l’embout.

5. Avant toute utilisation, vérier si le courant fourni par la sonde correspond
au réglage prévu, comme le prouve le système de rétro contrôle du courant
sonore et/ou visuel fourni par le moniteur de l’EMG.

ATTENTION

• Pour garantir la fourniture de courant aux tissus visés, utilisez uniquement
avec un (des) moniteur(s) EMG équipé de systèmes actifs de rétro contrôle
sonore et/ou visuel du courant fourni.

• Plier la sonde Yingling avec précaution. Un pliage excessif peut endom­mager la sonde et interrompre le courant de stimulation.

• Ne pas manipuler le l de platine-iridium avec des forceps chirurgicaux,
ciseaux ou tout autre instrument. Cela peut briser le l ou le dénuder de
son isolation, provocant une dérive du courant de l’embout de stimulation.

DESCRI ZIONE

La sonda di stimolazione monopolare Yingling è costituita da un’asta con
isolamento in ottone a cui è ssato un lo con isolamento in platino-iridio.
Il lo termina con una punta sferica priva di isolamento del diametro di 0,5
mm. L’impugnatura della sonda è munita di un cavo di 2 metri terminante
con un connettore.

USO PRE VISTO

ll presente dispositivo svolge la funzione di stimolatore intraoperatorio dei
nervi motori, da utilizzare insieme al dispositivo di controllo dell’integrità
dei nervi (Nerve Integrity Monitor, NIM®) Medtronic Xomed. Può essere
anche impiegato con altri monitor EGM dotati di sistemi attivi di retroazione
audio e/o video a corrente.

INDICAZIONI

Questo dispositivo è stato progettato per l’individuazione intraoperativa
dei nervi motori.

CONTROINDICAZIONI

Non sono note controindicazioni.

ISTRUZ IONI PER L’USO

1. Inserire l’estremità grande della sonda nel gruppo dell’impugnatura. In­serirla saldamente per evitare che la sonda si scolleghi dall’impugnatura
durante l’intervento e cada.

2. Collegare l’estremità con il connettore situata sul gruppo dell’impugnatura
nella connessione del catodo (-) sull’interfaccia del paziente del NIM®.

3. Collocare un elettrodo ad ago ipodermico per elettromiograa nella posi­zione desiderata in modo che funga da terra o anodo (+) per lo stimolatore.

4. Quando si è pronti per l’applicazione, rimuovere la copertura protettiva dalla
punta della sonda. Si raccomanda di tenere questa protezione quando lo
strumento non viene usato e di rimetterla sulla punta della sonda tra un’ap­plicazione e l’altra, per evitare che la punta si danneggi inavvertitamente.

5. Vericare prima dell’uso che la sonda somministri corrente nel punto
prescelto come mostrato dal monitor EMG dotato di sistema audio e/o
video di rialimentazione (feedback) della corrente erogata.

ATTENZION E

• Per garantire la somministrazione della corrente ai tessuti prescelti, usare
solo con monitor EMG dotato/i di sistema audio attivo e/o sistema visivo
di rialimentazione (feedback) della corrente erogata.

• Fare attenzione quando si ette il lo della sonda Yingling. Una essione
eccessiva può danneggiare la sonda e causare l’interruzione della corrente
stimolante.

• Non toccare il lo con isolamento in platino-iridio con pinze, forbici o
altri strumenti chirurgici in quanto ciò può rompere il lo o intaccarne
l’isolamento, con conseguente deviazione della corrente dalla punta di
stimolazione.

BESCHR EIBUNG

Die monopolare Stimulationssonde von Yingling besteht aus einem isolierten
Messingscha, an dem ein biegsamer, isolierter Platin-Iridiumdraht befestigt
ist. Am Ende des Drahtes bendet sich eine nicht isolierte Kugelspitze mit
0,5-mm-ID. Der Sondengri ist mit einem 2 m langen Kabel ausgestattet,
an dessen Ende sich ein Anschluß bendet.

VERWEN DUNGSZWECK

Dieses Produkt dient als intraoperativer Stimulator für motorische Nerven
und wird gemeinsam mit dem Medtronic Xomed Nerve Integrity Monitor
(NIM®) eingesetzt. Es kann auch mit anderen EGM-Monitoren eingesetzt
werden, sofern diese über aktive akustische und/oder optische Feedback­Systeme verfügen.

INDIK ATIO NEN

Diese Vorrichtung ist für den intraoperativen, motorischen Nervenbereich
bestimmt.

KONTRAINDIKATIONEN

Nicht bekannt.

GEBRAUC HSANWEISUN G

1. Das große Sondenende in den Gri einführen. Die Sonde fest einstecken, da­mit sich diese bei der Anwendung nicht löst oder aus dem Gri herausrutscht.

2. Das Anschlußende des Gris in die an der NIM® Patientenschnittstelle
bendliche Kathodenverbindung (-) einstecken.

3. Zur Erdung oder als Anode (+) für den Nervenstimulator die subdermale
EMG-Nadelelektrode im gewünschten Bereich positionieren.

4. Ist die Sonde soweit einsatzbereit, die Schutzfolie nun von der Sonden­spitze abnehmen. Um ein versehentliches Beschädigen der Spitze zu
vermeiden, empehlt es sich, die Schutzfolie aufzubewahren und nach
jedem Gebrauch wieder auf die Sondenspitze aufzusetzen.

5. Überprüfen Sie vor dem Gebrauch, ob die Sonde den Strom mit der
gewünschten Einstellung abgibt, was auf dem akustischen und/oder
optischen Rückmeldungssystem für die Stromabgabe des EMG-Monitors
angezeigt wird.

VORSIC HT

• Zur Gewährleistung der Stromabgabe an die gewünschten Gewebe sollten
Sie ausschließlich EMG-Monitore verwenden, die mit einem aktiven akus­tischen und/oder optischen Rückmeldungssystem für die Stromabgabe
ausgestattet sind.

• Beim Biegen des Drahtes der Yingling-Sonde vorsichtig sein. Wird dieser
zu sehr gebogen, kann es zu einer Beschädigung oder Unterbrechung des
Stimulansstroms kommen.

• Den isolierten Platin-Iridiumdraht nicht mit chirurgischen Zangen,
Scheren oder anderen chirurgischen Instrumenten handhaben. Dadurch
könnte der Draht brechen oder seine Isolierung verlieren und die Strö­mung von der Stimulationsspitze weggeleitet werden.

DESCRI PCIÓN

La sonda monopolar de estimulación Yingling está construida con un vástago
de cobre aislado al que se adosa un alambre de platinoiridio aislado exible. El
alambre termina en una bola de 0,5 mm de diámetro sin aislante. El mango de
la sonda está equipado con un cable de 2 metros que termina con un conector.

USO PRE VISTO

Este dispositivo está previsto para su u so como estimulador intraoperativo
de los nervios motores con el monitor Medtronic Xomed (NIM®) de control
del estado de los nervios. Se puede utilizar con otros monitores EMG equi­pados con sistemas de información activos visuales o sonoros suministrada
por corriente.

INDIC ACIONES

Este instrumento se usa para la localización intraoperatoria de las bras
neuromotoras.

CONTRAINDICACIONES

No se conoce ninguna.

INSTRU CCIONES DE US O

1. Inserte el extremo mayor de la sonda en el mango con rmeza para impedir
que la sonda se suelte del mango y caiga durante el procedimiento.

2. Conecte el extremo con el conector del mango en la conexión (-) del cátodo
en la interfase NIM® del paciente.

3. Coloque un electrodo de aguja subcutánea para electromiografía (EMG)
en el sitio deseado como conexión a tierra o el ánodo (+) para la sonda.

4. Retire la cubierta protectora de la punta de la sonda inmediatamente antes
de usar. Se recomienda colocar la cubierta en la punta de la sonda cuando
no esté en uso para evitar daños accidentales a la misma.

5. Antes del uso, compruebe que la sonda suministra corriente con el ajuste
deseado mediante el monitor EMG equipado con sistemas acústicos y/o
visuales de realimentación de la corriente suministrada.

PRECAUC IÓN

• Para garantizar el suministro de la corriente a los tejidos destino, utilice
únicamente un monitor o monitores EMG equipados con sistemas activos
acústicos y/o visuales de realimentación de la corriente suministrada.

• Flexione cuidadosamente el alambre de la sonda Yingling. La excesiva
exión daña la sonda e interrumpe la corriente de estimulación.

• No manipule el alambre de platinoiridio aislado con pinzas, tijeras quirúr­gicas u otros instrumentos quirúrgicos porque el alambre se puede romper
o el aislamiento puede quedar inutilizado y desviar así la corriente de la
punta de estimulación.

BESCHR IJVING

De Yingling monopolaire stimulerende sonde bestaat uit een geïsoleerde
koperen schacht waarop een exibele, geïsoleerde geleider van platina-iridium
is aangebracht. De geleider eindigt in een ongeïsoleerde bolvormige tip met
een diameter van 0,5mm. De handgreep van de sonde is uitgerust met een
kabel van 2meter die aan één uiteinde is voorzien van een connector.

GEBRUI K

Dit apparaat is bedoeld voor gebruik als peroperatieve stimulator voor het
motorische zenuwstelsel in combinatie met de Medtronic Xomed NIM®
(Nerve Integrity Monitor = zenuwintegriteitsmonitor). Het apparaat kan
worden gebruikt met andere EMG-monitors die zijn uitgerust met actieve
auditieve en/of visuele feedbacksystemen.

GEBRUI KSAANWIJZI NG

1. Steek het grote uiteinde van de sonde in de handgreep. Steek het stevig in
om te voorkomen dat de sonde tijdens de ingreep van zijn plaats raakt en
uit de handgreep valt.

2. Steek het uiteinde van de handgreep met de connector in de kathode (–)
aansluiting op de Nerve Integrity Monitor (NIM®) patiëntaansluiting van
Medtronic Xomed.

3. Plaats een onderhuidse EMG-naaldelektrode in de gewenste plaats om als
aardpunt of anode (+) te dienen voor de stimulator.

4. Verwijder de beschermende deklaag van de tip van de sonde wanneer deze
klaar is voor gebruik. Het verdient aanbeveling om tussen het gebruik door
deze deklaag op de tip van de sonde te houden om te voorkomen dat de
tip onvoorzien beschadigd raakt.

5. Controleer vóór gebruik of de sonde stroom afgee volgens de bedoelde
instelling met behulp van het auditieve of visuele feedbacksysteem van de
EMG-monitor.

OPGELE T

• Gebruik dit alleen met EMG-monitor(s) uitgerust met actieve auditieve
en/of visuele feedbacksystemen voor de stroom, om zeker te stellen dat
er stroom afgeleverd wordt aan de bedoelde weefsels.

• Wees voorzichtig bij het buigen van de geleider van de Yingling sonde.
Overmatig buigen kan de sonde beschadigen en de continuïteit van de
stimulerende stroom verstoren.

• Raak de geïsoleerde platina-iridium geleider niet aan met een operatietang
of -schaar of andere chirurgische instrumenten. Dit kan de geleider breken
of de isolatie wegstrippen, waardoor de stroom van de stimulerende tip
wordt weggeleid.

Dit product wordt STERIEL geleverd en dient UITSLUITEND VOOR
EENMALIG GEBRUIK BIJ EEN ENKELE PATIËNT. STERILISEER
DIT PRODUCT NIET OPNIEUW. MEDTRONIC XOMED IS NIET
