Sie haben ein Qualitätsprodukt von MEDISANA erworben,

lange Freude an Ihrem MEDISANA Infrarot-Ohrthermometer
FTO haben, empfehlen wir Ihnen, die nachstehenden Hinweise
zum Gebrauch und zur Pflege sorgfältig zu lesen.

1.1 Lieferumfang
Bitte prüfen Sie zunächst, ob das Gerät vollständig ist.
Zum Lieferumfang gehören:
• 1 MEDISANA Infrarot-Ohrthermometer FTO
• 1 Batterie CR-2032, bereits eingelegt!
• 1 Gebrauchsanweisung
• 5 Alkohol-Reinigungstücher
• 1 Aufbewahrungstasche
1.2 Wichtig
1.2.1 Zur Messung der Körpertemperatur
• Für eine genaue Messung ist es sehr wichtig, dass der Sensor
auf das Trommelfell ausgerichtet ist und sich tief genug im
Gehörgang befindet.
• Es gibt Personen, die unterschiedliche Messwerte am linken
und rechten Ohr haben. Um Temperaturveränderungen zu
erfassen, messen Sie bei derselben Person immer am selben
Ohr.
• Die Schlafposition kann die Messergebnisse beeinflussen.
Wenn eine Person eine geraume Zeit auf einem Ohr geschlafen hat, ist die Temperatur in diesem Ohr höher als normal.
Messen Sie in diesem Fall am anderen Ohr oder warten Sie
ein paar Minuten mit der Messung.
• Ohrenschmalz beeinflusst die Messgenauigkeit. Reinigen Sie
bei Bedarf das Ohr und die Sensorspitze des Thermometers
vor der Messung, um eventuelle Fehlmessungen zu vermeiden.
1.2.2 Allgemeine Hinweise
• Benutzen Sie das Gerät nur entsprechend seiner Bestimmung
laut Gebrauchsanweisung. Bei Zweckentfremdung erlischt
der Garantieanspruch.
• Das Gerät ist nicht für den kommerziellen Gebrauch bestimmt.
• Kinder dürfen das Gerät nicht verwenden. Medizinprodukte
sind kein Spielzeug!
• Im Falle von Störungen oder Beschädigungen reparieren Sie
das Gerät nicht selbst, da dadurch jeglicher Garantieanspruch
erlischt. Fragen Sie Ihren Fachhändler und lassen Sie Reparaturen nur von autorisierten Servicestellen durchführen.

• Legen Sie das Thermometer nicht ins Wasser oder in eine
andere Flüssigkeit. Sollte dennoch einmal Feuchtigkeit in das
Gerät eindringen, entfernen Sie die Batterie und nehmen Sie
keine weiteren Messungen mit dem Thermometer vor. Vor
der weiteren Benutzung des Gerätes setzen Sie sich mit Ihrem
Fachhändler oder MEDISANA in Verbindung.
• Schütteln und klopfen Sie das Thermometer nicht.
1.3 Wissenswertes zur Temperaturmessung mit
dem MEDISANA Infrarot-Ohrthermometer FTO
1.3.1 Was ist Fieber?
Unsere normale Körpertemperatur liegt zwischen 36 °C und
37,5 °C. Je nach Tageszeit und körperlicher Befindlichkeit, z.B.
im Monatszyklus einer Frau, sind Schwankungen ganz normal.
Steigt aber die Körpertemperatur über 38 °C an, spricht man
von Fieber.
Fieber tritt häufig bei Infektionen auf und ist ein Zeichen dafür,
dass die Immunabwehr des Körpers verstärkt arbeitet. Diese
natürliche Reaktion des Körpers auf äußere Krankheitserreger
sollte im Verlauf regelmäßig kontrolliert werden. Wenn das
Fieber über 39 °C ansteigt und auch nach 1 bis 2 Tagen nicht
wieder sinkt, suchen Sie unbedingt den Arzt auf.
1.3.2 Fieber messen – rasch und fehlerfrei!
Eine fiebrige Erkrankung ist häufig mit Müdigkeit, Gliederschmerzen, Frösteln und Schüttelfrost verbunden. Der Krankheitsverlauf lässt sich am besten kontrollieren, wenn Sie 2 bis 3
mal täglich im Abstand von 4 bis 6 Stunden Fieber messen. Die
Messung sollte immer im gleichen Ohr und ungefähr zur
gleichen Uhrzeit durchgeführt werden, damit die Ergebnisse
vergleichbar sind.
Eine Infrarot-Temperaturmessung im Ohr mit dem MEDISANA
Infrarot-Ohrthermometer FTO ist dafür sehr gut geeignet, denn
das Trommelfell verfügt über eine gemeinsame Blutversorgung
mit dem naheliegenden Temperatur-Kontrollzentrum im Kopf.
Veränderungen der Körperkerntemperatur werden daher genau
und ohne bedeutsame Zeitverzögerung angezeigt.
1.3.3 Weitere Temperaturmessung
Neben der wichtigen Möglichkeit zur Messung der Körpertemperatur, kann das MEDISANA Infrarot-Ohrthermometer FTO
auch zur Temperaturüberprüfung von Gegenständen (z.B.
Babyfläschchen) und Flüssigkeiten (z.B. Badewasser) eingesetzt
werden. Sogar die Messung der Umgebungstemperatur ist mit
dem Gerät möglich.

2 Anwendung
2.1 Inbetriebnahme
Batterien entnehmen/einlegen
Eine Batterie, die über Energie für ca. 1000 Messungen verfügt,
ist bereits im MEDISANA Infrarot-Ohrthermometer FTO einge-
legt. Sollte jedoch nach einer gewissen Betriebsdauer das Batteriesymbol in der LCD-Anzeige blinken, muss eine neue Batterie
(Typ CR-2032) eingesetzt werden.
Entnehmen:
Ziehen Sie die Batteriefachabdeckung vom Infrarot-Thermometer mit einem leichten Zug ab. Entfernen Sie die Batterie,
indem Sie diese mit einem spitzen Gegenstand am hinteren
Ende aus der Halterung aushebeln.
Einlegen:
Legen Sie die neue Batterie (Typ CR 2032 ) mit dem Pluspol nach
oben ein. Setzen Sie den Batteriedeckel wieder auf und drücken
Sie ihn nach oben, bis der Deckel hörbar einrastet.
2.2 Anwendung
Entfernen Sie die Schutzkappe vom MEDISANA Infrarot-Ohr-
thermometer FTO.
Das Aufsetzen einer besonderen Schutzhülle auf den Sensorbereich ist nicht erforderlich, da der Sensor dicht verschlossen
ist. (s. auch Reinigungs- und Pflegehinweise).
2.2.1 Einschalten
Drücken Sie die EIN/AUS -Taste , die sich direkt unter der
LCD-Anzeige befindet. Alle Anzeigensymbole sowie das
Ergebnis der letzten Messung erscheinen für ca. 2 Sekunden,
danach erlischt die Beleuchtung der LCD-Anzeige. Sobald das
Gerät betriebsbereit ist, hören Sie einen kurzen Signalton. Auf
der LCD-Anzeige sehen Sie ein Thermometersymbol sowie die
eingestellte Messeinheit. „°C“ zeigt an, dass das Messergebnis
in Grad Celsius dargestellt wird. Wenn „°F“ als Messeinheit
erscheint, wird die Körpertemperatur in Grad Fahrenheit angezeigt. Der Messbereich des MEDISANA Infrarot-Thermometers
FTO erstreckt sich von 0 °C bis 100 °C (32 °F von 212 °F) und
wird mit einer Skalierung von 0,1 °C bzw. 0,1 °F angezeigt.
2.2.2 Messen der Körpertemperatur
Neigen Sie den Kopf des Patienten etwas auf die gegenüberliegende Seite und stabilisieren Sie ihn (besonders bei Kindern).
Ziehen Sie etwas am Ohr, damit der Gehörgang gerade
wird. Führen Sie den Sensor vorsichtig in den Gehörgang
ein. Wenn Sie Ihre eigene Temperatur messen, benutzen Sie
einen Arm, um am Ohr zu ziehen und bedienen Sie mit der freien Hand das Thermometer.

2 Anwendung

Nachdem der Sensor richtig im Gehörgang positioniert ist,
drücken Sie mit dem Zeigefinger die START -Taste
auf der
Rückseite des Gerätes. Nach erfolgreicher Messung ertönt ein
kurzer Signalton und Sie können das Gerät aus dem Ohr entfernen. Das Display zeigt sofort die gemessene Temperatur an
und speichert diese automatisch. Bei erhöhter Körpertemperatur
(über 37,5 °C / 99,5 °F) ertönen nach der Messung 10 kurze
Signaltöne.
Das Gerät ist nach ca. 5 Sekunden zu einer weiteren Messung
bereit, wenn das Symbol der eingestellten Messeineinheit (°C /
°F) blinkt. Warten Sie nach 3 – 5 aufeinander folgenden Messungen ca. 30 Sekunden, ehe Sie eine weitere Temperaturmessung vornehmen.
Messen Sie unter folgenden Bedingungen die Körpertemperatur
dreimal hintereinander am gleichen Ohr und ziehen Sie den
höchsten Wert als Referenz heran:
• Bei Neugeborenen die jünger als 3 Monate sind.
• Bei Kindern unter drei Jahren mit Erkrankungen des Immun-
systems und bei Personen, bei denen Abweichungen von der
normalen Körpertemperatur gefährlich sein können.
• Wenn Sie mit der Messung nicht vertraut sind und sich große
Unterschiede bei aufeinanderfolgenden Messungen ergeben.
2.2.3 Weitere Temperaturmessungen
Das Infrarot-Thermometer kann auch zur Temperaturmessung
an Oberflächen, z.B. an der Haut oder an Baby-Fläschchen eingesetzt werden. Schalten Sie dafür das Thermometer ein und
führen Sie den Sensor leicht gegen den zu messenden Gegenstand. Nach einem kurzen Signalton ist das Gerät zur Messung
bereit. Drücken Sie kurz die START -Taste
und halten Sie das
Thermometer in gleichbleibender Position, bis ein langer Ton das
Ende der Messung signalisiert.
Das Messergebnis wird auf dem beleuchteten LCD-Display angezeigt und automatisch gespeichert. Liegt das Ergebnis außerhalb
des Temperaturbereichs zwischen 32 °C und 42,2 °C, erscheint auf dem Display ein durchgestrichenes Ohr-Symbol.
Wenn Sie die Temperatur von Flüssigkeiten messen, z.B. Getränke, Badewasser o.ä., darf nur die hellgraue Sensorspitze eingetaucht werden. Achten Sie darauf, dass keine Flüssigkeit in
das Gerät eindringen kann.
2.2.4 Abschalten
Das Thermometer verfügt über eine Energiesparfunktion und
schaltet automatisch aus, wenn innerhalb von 45 Sekunden
keine Taste gedrückt wurde. Sie können das Gerät auch ausschalten, indem Sie kurz auf die EIN/AUS -Taste
drücken.

3 Speicher
3.1 Messdaten abrufen
Das MEDISANA Infrarot-Ohrthermometer FTO kann bis zu 12
Messergebnisse speichern.
Ihre gespeicherten Messdaten können Sie abrufen, indem Sie
kurz auf die START -Taste
drücken, ohne dass zuvor das
Thermometer mit der EIN/AUS -Taste
eingeschaltet wurde.
Auf dem Display blinkt rechts neben der Anzeige „- - -“ das
Symbol M auf. Nach einem weiteren kurzen Druck auf die
START -Taste
erscheint die Speicherplatznummer 1 und
direkt danach die zuletzt gespeicherte Temperatur im unbeleuchteten Display. Unter der Temperaturmesseinheit blinkt das
Symbol M.
Durch weiteres Drücken der START -Taste
können Sie das
gespeicherte Messergebnis auf Speicherplatz „2“ aufrufen. Insgesamt stehen 12 Speicherplätze zur Verfügung, die durch wiederholtes Drücken auf die START -Taste
nacheinander im
Display erscheinen.
Wenn noch nicht alle Speicherplätze belegt sind, erscheint an
dieser Speicherstelle die Anzeige „- - -“.
3.2 Messeinheit ändern
Sie haben die Möglichkeit, die Körpertemperatur entweder in
Grad Celsius oder in Grad Fahrenheit zu messen.
Gehen Sie dabei folgendermaßen vor:
1. Das Gerät muss ausgeschaltet sein.
2. Drücken Sie für mindestens 10 – 15 Sekunden die START -
Taste
auf der Rückseite des Gerätes bis die aktuell einge-
stellte Messeinheit im Display angezeigt wird.
3. Durch einen weiteren kurzen Druck auf die START -Taste
wechselt die Messeinheit. Wenn die gewünschte Messeinheit
im Display erscheint, warten Sie, bis alle Anzeigensymbole im
beleuchteten Display aufblinken und die Umstellung durch
einen kurzen Signalton bestätigt wird. Direkt danach ist das
Thermometer für die nächste Messung in der neuen Messeinheit bereit.
4. Gleichzeitig werden automatisch alle gespeicherten Daten
auf die geänderte Messeinheit umgestellt.
4.1 Erklärung der Anzeigensymbole
und Fehlermeldungen

Ein kurzer Signalton ertönt.
Das °C- oder °F-Symbol blinkt.
Drücken Sie kurz die START -Taste
, um die
Messung zu beginnen.
Abschluss der Messung
Ein langer Signalton ertönt.
Das Display wird für 5 Sekunden beleuchtet.
Das durchgestrichene Symbol für eine Ohrmessung wird angezeigt, wenn das Messergebnis
außerhalb des Temperaturbereichs von 32 °C bis
42,2 °C liegt.
Wenn das Messergebnis größer oder gleich 37,5
°C (99,5 °F) ist, wird der Fieber-Alarm aktiviert
(10 kurze Signaltöne).
Weitere Messungen
Wenn das °C- oder °F-Symbol erneut blinkt, ist
das Thermometer für die nächste Messung
bereit. Das Gerät schaltet sich automatisch nach
60 Sekunden ab, wenn keine weitere Taste betätigt wird.
Die gemessene Temperatur ist zu hoch.

4.2 Reinigung und Pflege
•
Der Sensor ist das empfindlichste Teil des MEDISANA Infrarot-
Thermometers FTO. Schützen Sie die Linse vor Verschmutzungen oder Beschädigungen. Setzen Sie dafür immer die
Schutzkappe auf das Thermometer, wenn es nicht in
Gebrauch ist.
• Bei Verunreinigungen der Sensorlinse können Sie diese mit
den mitgelieferten Alkohol-Reinigungstüchern vorsichtig
reinigen. Auch in Alkohol oder warmes Wasser getränkte
Wattestäbchen können zum Abwischen der Sensorlinse ein
gesetzt werden.
• Verwenden Sie nie aggressive Reinigungsmittel oder starke
Bürsten.
• Für die Reinigung des Thermometers verwenden Sie bitte ein
weiches Tuch, das mit einer milden Seifenlauge leicht befeuchtet ist. In das Gerät darf kein Wasser eindringen. Benutzen Sie das Gerät erst wieder, wenn es völlig trocken ist.
Sollte dennoch einmal Flüssigkeit in das Gerät eindringen,
muss die Batterie sofort entfernt und die weitere Anwendung
vermieden werden. Setzen Sie sich in diesem Fall mit Ihrem
Fachhändler oder mit der MEDISANA Servicestelle in Verbindung.
• Lagern oder verwenden Sie das Gerät nicht in einer Umgebung mit zu hoher oder zu niedriger Temperatur (siehe Betriebsbedingungen im Kapitel „Technische Daten“) und Luftfeuchtigkeit, im Sonnenlicht, in Verbindung mit elektrischem
Strom oder an einem staubigen Ort.
• Nehmen Sie die Batterie aus dem Gerät, wenn Sie es längere
Zeit nicht benutzen möchten. Es besteht sonst die Gefahr,
dass die Batterie ausläuft.

5.1 Garantie- und Reparaturbedingungen
Bitte wenden Sie sich im Garantiefall an Ihr Fachgeschäft oder
direkt an die Servicestelle. Sollten Sie das Gerät einschicken
müssen, geben Sie bitte den Defekt an und legen eine Kopie der
Kaufquittung bei.
Es gelten dabei die folgenden Garantiebedingungen:
1. Auf MEDISANA Produkte wird ab Verkaufsdatum eine
Garantie für drei Jahre gewährt. Das Verkaufsdatum ist im
Garantiefall durch die Kaufquittung oder Rechnung nachzuweisen.

1.2 Important
1.2.1 When taking body temperature
• To ensure an accurate reading, it is crucial that the sensor is
angled towards the ear drum and inserted sufficiently deeply
into the auditory canal.
• Some people produce different results in the left and right
ear. In order to accurately measure changes in temperature,
always take readings in the same ear with any given person.
• The position in which you sleep can influence readings. If
someone has been lying on one ear for a long period of time,
the temperature in that ear will be higher than normal. In this
case, either use the other ear or wait a few minutes before
taking a reading.
• Earwax can influence the accuracy of a reading. If necessary,
clean the ear and the sensor tip of the thermometer before
taking a reading in order to prevent inaccurate results.
1.2.2 General tips
• Only use the unit for the specific purpose described in the
operating instructions. Any misuse will void the warranty.
• The unit is not designed for commercial use.
• Do not let children use the unit. Medical products are not
toys!
• If a fault occurs or the unit is damaged, do not attempt to
repair the unit yourself, as this will void the warranty. Contact
your dealer and only have repairs carried out by authorized
service partners.

• Do not immerse the thermometer in water or other liquids.
However, should moisture somehow get into the unit, remove the battery and do not take any further readings with
the thermometer. Before any further use, contact your
specialist dealer or MEDISANA directly.
• Do not shake or tap the thermometer.
1.3 Useful information on taking temperature
with the MEDISANA FTO infra-red ear
thermometer
1.3.1 What is fever?
Our normal body temperature is between 36 °C and 37,5 °C.
Fluctuations are quite normal, depending on time of day and the
body’s condition, for example in the female menstruation cycle.
However, when body temperature rises above 38 °C, the
phenomenon is known as fever.
Fever often occurs in the case of infections, and is a sign that the
body’s immune system is working overtime. This perfectly normal reaction to foreign bodies, germs and microorganisms
should be checked at regular intervals. If the fever should exceed
39° C and not fall again within 1 to 2 days, you should definitely contact your doctor.
1.3.2 Taking a temperature reading –
quickly and accurately!
A fever is often associated with fatigue, pains in the limbs, shivering and chills. The course of an illness can be best monitored
by taking a temperature reading 2 to 3 times a day at 4 to 6
hour intervals. Readings should always be taken in the same ear
and at approximately the same time so that the results can be
compared.
Using the MEDISANA FTO ear thermometer to take an infrared temperature reading in the ear is ideal for this task, as the
eardrum shares a common blood supply with the nearby temperature-regulating centre of the brain. Because of this, variations in body temperature are shown very accurately and without
any significant delay.
1.3.3 Taking other temperature readings
As well as the important function of taking body temperature,
the MEDISANA FTO infra-red ear thermometer can also be
used to measure the temperature of objects (e.g. babies’ bottles) and liquids (e.g. bath water). It is even possible to use the
unit to measure ambient temperature.

2.1 Getting started
Removing / inserting batteries
A battery providing power for approx. 1000 readings is already
inserted in the MEDISANA FTO infra-red ear thermometer.
Should the battery symbol in the LCD display start to flash after
an extended period of use, the battery (CR-2032 type) must be
replaced.
Removal:
Gently pull off the cover of the battery compartment from the
infra-red thermometer. Remove the battery by carefully levering
it out of the mounting with a pointed object.
Insertion:
Insert the new battery (CR 2032 type) with the positive pole
pointing upwards. Replace the cover and push it up until you
hear it snap into place.
2.2 Operation
Remove the protective cap from the MEDISANA FTO infra-red
ear thermometer.
There is no need to attach a special probe cover to the sensor
area, as the sensor is completely sealed (see also: cleaning and
maintenance tips).
2.2.1 Switching on
Press the ON/OFF button , to be found directly below the
LCD display . All display symbols and the result of the last
reading taken will appear for about 2 seconds, after which the
backlight for the display will switch off. As soon as the unit is
ready to use, you will hear a short tone. The LCD display now
shows a thermometer symbol and the chosen unit of measurement. “°C” indicates that the results will be displayed in degrees Centigrade, while “°F” means that body temperature
will be displayed in degrees Fahrenheit.
The measuring range of the MEDISANA FTO infra-red thermometer is from 0 °C to 100 °C (32 °F to 212 °F), displayed in steps
of 0,1 °C or 0,1 °F.
2.2.2 Taking a body temperature reading
Tilt the patient’s head slightly in the opposite direction and support the head (especially in the case of children). Pull on the ear
slightly in order to straighten the auditory canal. Carefully
insert the sensor into the auditory canal. If you are taking
your own temperature, use one hand to pull on the ear and the
other to operate the thermometer.

2 Operation
Once the sensor is correctly positioned in the auditory canal, use
your index finger to press the START button
on the back of
the unit. When the reading is successfully completed, you will
hear a short tone and can remove the unit from the ear. The
display will immediately show the temperature measured and
automatically store the result. In the case of a raised body
temperature (above 37,5 °C / 99,5 °F) you will hear 10 short
tones after the reading has been taken.
After approx. 5 seconds, the unit will be ready to take another
reading when the unit of measurement symbol (°C / °F) starts
to flash. After taking 3 – 5 consecutive readings, wait for
approx. 30 seconds before taking a further reading.
In each of the following cases, you should take three consecutive readings in the same ear, using the highest reading as a
reference:
• With newly born children under 3 months old.
• With children under 3 years of age who suffer from diseases
of the immune system, and with persons for whom deviations from normal body temperature can be dangerous.
• If you are not familiar with taking temperature and there are
large discrepancies between consecutive readings.
2.2.3 Other temperature readings
The infra-red thermometer can also be used to measure the
temperature of surfaces, such as the skin or of babies’ bottles.
To do this, switch on the thermometer and hold the sensor
gently against the object to be measured. After you hear a short
tone, the unit is ready to use. Give the START button
a short
press and keep the thermometer in place until a long tone
sounds, signalling the end of the reading.
The result is shown on the backlit LCD display and stored automatically. If the result is not within the range 32 °C to 42,2 °C,
a crossed-out ear symbol will appear in the display.
When measuring the temperature of liquids, e.g. drinks, bath
water etc., you must only insert the light-grey sensor tip. Make
sure that no liquid can get into the unit.
2.2.4 Switching off
The thermometer features an energy-saving function and
will switch off automatically if no buttons are pressed for
45 seconds. You may also switch off the unit with a short press
of the ON/OFF button
.

3.1 Recalling stored data
The MEDISANA FTO infra-red ear thermometer can store up to
12 results.
You can call up your stored data with a short press of the START
button
, without having previously switched on the thermo-
meter with the ON/OFF button
. The symbol M will flash on
the display next to “- - -“. After a further short press of the
START button
, memory slot number 1 will appear in the unlit
display, followed directly by the last stored temperature reading.
The symbol M will flash below the unit of measurement.
With a further press of the START button
, you can call up
the result stored in memory slot “2”. A total of 12 memory slots
are available, and these will be displayed in order if you continue
to press the START button
.
If a memory slot is empty, the symbol “- - -“ will appear next to
it in the display.
3.2 Changing the unit of measurement
When taking temperature, you have the choice between degrees centigrade and degrees Fahrenheit.
Proceed as follows:
1. The unit must be switched off.
2. Hold down the START button
on the back of the unit for
at least 10 – 15 seconds until the current unit of measurement is shown in the display.
3. You can now change the unit of measurement with a further
short press of the START button
. Once the desired unit of
measurement is displayed, wait until all the display symbols
flash in the illuminated display and the change is confirmed
with a short tone. Directly after this, the thermometer is ready
to take the next reading with the newly selected unit of
measurement.
4. At the same time, all stored data is automatically converted
to the new unit of measurement..

4.2 Cleaning and maintenance
•
The sensor is the most sensitive part of the MEDISANA FTO
infra-red thermometer. Protect the lens from dirt and damage
by always putting the protective cap on the thermometer when
it is not in use.
• Should the lens get dirty, you can clean it carefully using the
alcohol wipes supplied with the unit. You may also use a cotton
bud soaked in alcohol or warm water to wipe the lens clean.
• Never use strong detergents or hard brushes.
• To clean the thermometer, please use a soft cloth moistened in
a mild soap solution. Do not let water get into the unit. Only use
the unit again when completely dry. However, if any liquid does
get into the unit, remove the battery immediately and discontinue further use. In such a case, contact your dealer or the
MEDISANA Service Department.
• Do not use or store the unit in an environment where the
ambient temperature or humidity is too high or too low (see
operating conditions in the “Specifications” section) , in direct
sunshine, in the vicinity of static electricity or in a dusty environment.
• Remove the battery if you do not wish to use the unit for an
extended period of time, otherwise there is a risk of the battery
leaking.
• If the thermometer is used as described in these instructions, no
regular maintenance or calibration is required.

5.1 Warranty and repair terms
Please contact your dealer or the service centre in case of a
claim under the warranty. If you have to send in the unit,
please enclose a copy of your receipt and state what the defect
is.
The following warranty terms apply:

The warranty period for MEDISANA products is three years
from date of purchase. In case of a warranty claim, the date
of purchase has to be proven by means of the sales receipt
or invoice.
2.
Defects in material or workmanship will be removed free of
charge within the warranty period.
3.
Repairs under warranty do not extend the warranty period
either for the unit or for the replacement parts.
4.
The following is excluded under the warranty:

All damage which has arisen due to improper treatment,

1.2 Important
1.2.1 Pour mesurer la température du corps
• Afin de garantir la précision de la mesure, il est essentiel que
le capteur soit dirigé vers le tympan et soit suffisamment
enfoncé dans le conduit auditif.
• Chez certaines personnes, les valeurs mesurées diffèrent dans
l'oreille gauche et l'oreille droite. Pour éviter ces variations de
température, il faut toujours effectuer la mesure sur une seule
oreille.
• La position durant le sommeil peut influencer les résultats de
mesure. Lorsqu'une personne a longtemps dormi sur une
oreille, la température de celle-ci est plus élevée que normalement. Il faut alors mesurer sur l'autre oreille ou attendre
quelques minutes avant de prendre la température.
• La présence de cérumen influence la précision de la mesure.
Le cas échéant, nettoyer l'oreille et la pointe du capteur du
thermomètre avant d'effectuer la mesure pour assurer une
précision correcte.

1.3.1 Qu’est-ce que la fièvre ?
La température de notre corps se situe normalement entre 36 °C
et 37,5 °C. Selon l'heure de la journée et l'état physique, par ex.
durant la période de menstruation, des fluctuations sont normales. Mais si la température du corps dépasse 38 °C, on parle de
fièvre.
La fièvre se déclenche souvent en cas d'infection et est un signe
que le système immunitaire du corps fonctionne plus que normalement. Cette réaction naturelle du corps face à des agents
pathogènes doit cependant être régulièrement surveillée. Si la
fièvre dépasse 39°C et ne tombe pas au bout d'un jour ou deux,
vous devez absolument consulter un médecin.
1.3.2 Mesurer la fièvre, rapidement et sans erreur !
Une maladie fiévreuse est souvent associée à de la fatigue, des
membres douloureux, frissons et frissons de fièvre. Pour contrôler au mieux l'évolution de la maladie, il faut mesurer la
température 2 à 3 fois par jour toutes les 4 à 6 heures. Pour
pouvoir comparer les résultats, effectuez toujours la mesure
dans la même oreille et à des heures à peu près similaires.
La mesure de la température par infrarouges dans l'oreille avec
le thermomètre auriculaire à infrarouges MEDISANA FTO
convient parfaitement pour cela, car le circuit sanguin du
tympan est commun avec le centre de contrôle de température
situé à proximité dans la tête. Les modifications de la température interne du corps sont donc affichées avec précision et sans
délai significatif.
1.3.3 Autre mesure de température
Outre son rôle essentiel, à savoir mesurer la température du
corps, le thermomètre auriculaire à infrarouges MEDISANA FTO
permet également de mesurer la température d'objets (par
ex. biberons) et de liquides (par ex. eau du bain). Cet instrument
permet même de mesurer la température ambiante.

2 Application
2.1 Mise en service
Retirer/Insérer la pile
Le thermomètre auriculaire à infrarouges MEDISANA FTO est
fourni avec une pile installée, celle-ci dispose énergie suffisante
pour environ 1000 mesures. Si cependant, après une certaine
période d'utilisation, le symbole de la pile clignote sur l'écran
ACL, il faut remplacer la pile (type CR-2032).
Retirer :
Une légère traction suffit pour démonter le couvercle du compartiment à pile du thermomètre à infrarouges. Pour retirer la
pile, la soulever avec un objet pointu par l'extrémité postérieure
de la fixation.
Insérer :
Insérer une pile neuve (type CR 2032), pôle positif vers le haut.
Replacer le couvercle du compartiment à pile et poussez-le vers
le haut jusqu'au déclic.
2.2 Application
Enlever le capuchon protecteur du thermomètre auriculaire à
infrarouges MEDISANA FTO.
Grâce au capteur étanche, il n'est pas nécessaire d'utiliser une
gaine spéciale pour protéger l'embout du thermomètre (voir
aussi les instructions de nettoyage et d'entretien).
2.2.1 Mise en marche
Appuyez sur la touche MARCHE/ARRÊT, directement située
sous l'écran ACL . Tous les symboles de l'écran ainsi que le
résultat de la dernière mesure sont affichés pendant environ 2
secondes, puis, l'éclairage de l'écran ACL s'éteint. Un signal
sonore retentit pour signaliser que l'appareil est prêt pour l'utilisation. L'écran ACL affiche le symbole du thermomètre et
l'unité de mesure actuelle. „°C“ indique que le résultat de
mesure est affiché en degrés Celsius. Si „°F“ est affiché, la
température du corps est affichée en degrés Fahrenheit.
La gamme de mesure du thermomètre auriculaire à infrarouges
MEDISANA FTO se situe entre 0 °C et 100 °C (32 °F et 212 °F)
et est affichée avec une graduation de 0,1 °C ou de 0,1 °F.
2.2.2 Mesure de la température du corps
Inclinez légèrement la tête du patient vers le côté opposé et
stabilisez-la (spécialement pour les enfants). Tirez un peu sur
l'oreille pour redresser le conduit auditif. Introduisez
prudemment le capteur dans le conduit auditif. Si vous
mesurez votre propre température, tirez l'oreille d’une main et
commandez le thermomètre avec l'autre.

Après voir correctement positionné le capteur dans le conduit
auditif, appuyez de l'index sur la touche START
située sur la
face arrière de l'appareil. Lorsque la mesure est terminée, un
bref signal sonore retentit et vous pouvez retirer l'appareil de
l'oreille. L'écran affiche immédiatement la température mesurée
et la mémorise automatiquement. Si la température du corps
est élevée (supérieure à 37,5 °C / 99,5 °F), 10 bips sonores retentissent après la mesure.
L'appareil est prêt pour une prochaine mesure au bout de
5 secondes, lorsque le symbole de l'unité de mesure sélectionnée (°C / °F) clignote. Si vous effectuez entre 3 à 5 mesures
d'affilée, il faut attendre environ 30 secondes avant de procéder
à la prochaine mesure.
Mesurer la température du corps trois fois de suite sur la même
oreille en respectant les conditions ci-dessous et prendre la
valeur la plus haute comme référence :
• Pour les bébés âgés de moins de 3 mois.
• Pour les enfants de moins de trois ans souffrants de défi-
ciences du système immunitaires et les personnes pour lesquelles tout écart de température normale du corps peut être
dangereux.
• Si vous n'êtes pas habitué à prendre les mesure et que vous
constatez de grands écarts lors de mesures consécutives.
2.2.3 Autres mesures de température
Le thermomètre à infrarouges peut également être utilisé pour
mesurer la température de surfaces, par ex. de la peau ou d'un
biberon. Allumer le thermomètre et approcher le capteur de
l'objet. Lorsqu'un bref signal sonore retentit, l'appareil est prêt
pour effectuer la mesure. Appuyer brièvement sur la touche
START
et maintenir le thermomètre dans cette position
jusqu'à ce qu'un long bip sonore signale la fin de la mesure.
Le résultat de la mesure est affiché sur l'écran éclairé et mémo-
risé automatiquement. Si le résultat est hors de la gamme de
températures entre 32 °C et 42,2 °C, l'écran affiche un symbole d'oreille rayé.
Si vous désirez mesurer la température de liquides, par ex. boissons, eau du bain, etc., uniquement immerger la pointe grise
claire du capteur. Veiller à ce que le liquide ne puisse pas s'infiltrer dans l'appareil.
2.2.4 Extinction
Le thermomètre dispose d’une fonction de basse consommation
d'énergie et s'éteint automatiquement après une période
d'inutilisation de 45 secondes. Vous pouvez également éteindre
l'appareil en appuyant brièvement sur la touche MARCHE/
ARRÊT
.

3 Mémoire
3.1 Consulter les données de mesure
Le thermomètre auriculaire à infrarouges MEDISANA FTO peut
mémoriser jusqu'à 12 résultats de mesure.
Pour consulter les résultats de mesure mémorisés, appuyer
brièvement sur la touche START
, mais sans auparavant
allumer le thermomètre avec la touche MARCHE/ARRÊT
.
Sur l'écran, le symbole M clignote à droite de l'affichage „- - -“.
Effectuer de nouveau une brève pression sur la touche START
, l'écran éteint affiche le numéro d'emplacement en mé-
moire 1 et directement ensuite, la dernière température mémorisée. Le symbole M clignote sous l'unité de mesure de la
température.
Appuyer une fois de plus sur la touche START
pour con-
sulter le résultat de mesure mémorisé sur l'emplacement en
mémoire „2“. Vous disposez en tout de 12 blocs mémoire que
vous pouvez consulter en appuyant de nouveau sur la touche
START
. Lorsqu'un emplacement mémoire est vide, l'écran
affiche „- - -“.
3.2 Changer l’unité de mesure
Vous pouvez mesurer la température du corps en degrés Celsius
ou Fahrenheit.
Procédez comme suit :
1. L'appareil doit être éteint.
2. Appuyer pendant au moins 10 à 15 secondes sur la touche
START
, située sur la face arrière de l'appareil, jusqu'à ce
que l'unité de mesure actuellement sélectionnée soit affichée
sur l'écran.
3. Appuyer de nouveau sur la touche START
pour changer
l'unité de mesure. Lorsque l'unité de mesure désirée est
affichée sur l'écran, attendre jusqu'à ce que tous les symboles d'affichage clignotent dans l'écran éclairé et que la
modification soit confirmée par un bref signal sonore. Le
thermomètre est ensuite immédiatement prêt pour effectuer
la prochaine mesure avec la nouvelle unité de mesure.
4. Le changement d'unité de mesure est automatiquement
répercuté sur toutes les données en mémoire.

mesure dépasse 100 °C ou 212 °F.

4.2 Nettoyage et entretien
•
Le capteur est la partie la plus fragile du thermomètre à infrarouges MEDISANA FTO. Protéger la lentille des salissures ou
endommagements. Toujours placer le capuchon de protection
sur le thermomètre lorsque celui-ci n'est pas en cours d'utilisation.
• Si la lentille du capteur est sale, vous pouvez la nettoyer avec
précaution en utilisant les lingettes de nettoyage imbibées
d'alcool livrées avec l'appareil. Il est également possible d'utiliser des cotons-tiges imbibés d'alcool ou d'eau chaude pour
essuyer la lentille du capteur.
• Ne jamais utiliser de détergents agressifs, ni de brosses dures.
• Pour nettoyer le thermomètre, utiliser un chiffon doux légèrement imbibé de solution savonneuse neutre. Le boîtier ne doit
pas prendre l'humidité. L'appareil doit être parfaitement sec
avant d'être réutilisé. Si malgré tout un liquide quelconque
s'infiltre dans le boîtier, retirez immédiatement la pile et n'utilisez plus l'appareil. Veuillez contacter votre revendeur spécialisé
ou le service après-vente MEDISANA.
• Ne pas ranger, ni utiliser l'appareil dans un environnement dont
la température ambiante est trop élevée ou trop basse (voir
Conditions d'utilisation au chapitre „Caractéristiques“) et
humide, exposé au soleil, non isolé du courant électrique ou
poussiéreux.
• Si l'appareil reste longtemps inutilisé, retirer la pile du boîtier à
pile. Autrement, la pile risque de couler.
• Lorsque l'appareil est utilisé conformément aux instructions de
ce mode d'emploi, il ne requiert aucun entretien, ni contrôle.
4.3 Elimination
Éliminez votre ancien appareil électrique de manière respectueuse
de l’environnement à l’issue de sa durée de vie ! Les emballages
sont réutilisables ou peuvent être recyclés afin de récu-pérer les
