1. Before installing the fresh air kit (not included with the damper motor kit), remove the nuts and washers from both sides of the damper blade, Figure 3.

7. Place the other end of the damper rod into the coupling already attached to the fresh air kit. Do not tighten the setscrew at this point.
2. Install the coupling, Item 2, on the end of the damper blade, Item 5, closest to the unit control box. With the damper blade in the closed position, the setscrews, Item 4, should be facing the front. See Figure 1 or 2.
3. Install the fresh air kit as shown in IM 374, supplied with that kit.
4. Cut damper control rod, Item 1, to correct length (see table above). Make sure unit size and rod length go together. Deburr ends of the rod.
5. Attach the damper motor, Item 6, to the mounting bracket., Item 8, with two #8-32 x 0.375" (10 mm) screws, Item 9. See Figure 1 or 2.
6. Slide the damper rod through the 0.50" (13 mm) diam­eter hole in the unit subbase. See Figure 1 or 2. Place the damper motor assembly in the proper unit end compart­ment, attach the damper rod to the motor coupling, and tighten the setscrew.
8. Attach the damper motor assembly to the unit end piece with two #10 x 0.50" (13 mm) sheet metal screws, Item

9. With the fresh air damper blade in the closed position, tighten the setscrew to the damper rod.
10. Manually open the fresh air intake box damper blade and let the spring return on the damper motor close the damper blade. If it binds, loosen the two screws holding the damper motor bracket to the end piece and adjust the assembly until the spring will close the damper blade. Retighten the screws.
11. Attach one end of the conduit to the electrical connector on the damper motor and the other end to the control box.
12. Wire the damper motor into the electrical circuit. Three typical wiring diagrams are shown in Figure 5.
