Purpose
This release is based on McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.7i Patch 1 and includes all of the issues resolved in that release. This Hotfix extends McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.7i Patch 1 to address the issues described under Resolved issues.
Resolved issues
Resolved issues in this release of the software are described below:
1. Issue: In an attempt to produce less overhead for some process-heavy tasks, some customers were disabling Access Protection and Buffer Overflow. The drivers remained loaded but not active, causing little change in performance. (Reference: 465506) Resolution: Disabling the Access Protection and Buffer Overflow drivers now yields the expected performance increase.
2. Issue: The on-access scanner did not properly time out when
scanning large archives. This could lead to the

system failing to copy files. (Reference: 464768) Resolution: The on-access scanner service now successfully times out at the length specified in the user interface.
3. Issue: When the on-delivery Outlook scanner received emails to scan, some keyboard entry could be lost. (Reference: 480992) Resolution: The Outlook scanner now handles the on-delivery scan of an email on Microsoft Outlook, and caches the keys entered during that time.
4. Issue: On 32-bit systems, the Access Protection rule "Prevent termination of McAfee processes" was being improperly disabled, even when the managed policy specified otherwise. (Reference: 481687) Resolution: The HotFix installer resolves this issue by removing the rule file that should have only been installed on 64-bit systems.
NOTE: This issue has also been resolved in fully released Patch 1 installer. The HotFix resolves the issue for customers who installed Patch 1 during the managed release cycle.
