To reduce the risk of fire, explosion, electric shock, property
damage or injury to persons
when using the appliance, follow
basic precautions, including the
following:
uids or solids and their fumes have
been removed.
These items include acetone, denatured alcohol, gasoline, kerosene,
some liquid household cleaners,
some spot removers, turpentine,
waxes and wax removers.
b. Do not add gasoline, dry-cleaning
solvents, or other flammable or
explosive substances to the wash
water. These substances give off
vapors that could ignite or explode.
c. Under certain conditions, hydrogen
gas may be produced in a hot water
system that has not been used for 2
weeks or more. HYDROGEN GAS
IS EXPLOSIVE. If the hot water system has not been used for such a
period, before using a washing
machine or combination washerdryer, turn on all hot water faucets
and let the water flow from each for
several minutes. This will release
any accumulated hydrogen gas. As
the gas is flammable, do not smoke
or use an open flame during this
time.
7. Do not reach into the appliance if the
tub or agitator is moving.
8. Do not allow children or pets to play on,
in, or in front of the appliance. Close
supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near children and pets.
9. Do not tamper with controls.
10. Do not repair or replace any part of the
appliance or attempt any servicing
unless specifically recommended in
published user-repair instructions that
you understand and have the skills to
carry out.
11. Unplug power supply cord before
attempting to service your washer.
12. The agitator should not be removed. If
the agitator is removed, it must be
replaced by pushing down completely
and the locking screw tightened before
the washer is operated.
13. Store laundry aids and other material in
a cool, dry place where children cannot
reach them.
14. Do not wash or dry items that are soiled
with vegetable or cooking oil. These
items may contain some oil after laundering.Due to the remaining oil, the fabric may smoke or catch fire by itself.
15. Do not use chlorine bleach and ammonia or acids (such as vinegar or rust
remover) in the same wash.Hazardous
fumes can form.
16. Do not machine wash fiberglass materials. Small par ticles can stick to fabrics
washed in following loads and cause
skin irritation.
17. Before the appliance is removed from
service or discarded, remove the door
to the washing compartment.
18. Inlet hoses are subject to damage and
deterioration over time. Check the
hoses periodically for bulges, kinks,
cuts, wear or leaks and replace them
every five years.
1. Read all instructions before using the
appliance.
2. As with any equipment using electricity
and having moving parts, there are
potential hazards. To use this appliance
safely, the operator should become
familiar with the instructions for operation of the appliance and always exercise care when using it.
3. Do not install or store this appliance
where it will be exposed to the weather.
4. Install and level washer on a floor that
can support the weight.
5. This appliance must be properly
grounded. Never plug the appliance
cord into a receptacle which is not
grounded adequately and in accordance with local and national codes.
See installation instructions for grounding this appliance.
6. To avoid the possibility of fire or explosion:
a. Do not wash items that have been
previously cleaned in, washed in,
soaked in, or spotted with gasoline,
dry-cleaning solvents, other flammable or explosive substances as
they give off vapors that could ignite
or explode. Hand wash and line dry
any items containing these substances.
Any material on which you have
used a cleaning solvent, or which is
saturated with flammable liquids or
solids, should not be placed in the
washer until all traces of these liq-

cycle. Pull the dial out to star t the washer.

DELICATES is designed to clean items requiring a gentle wash
action.This would include blouses and dress shirts.There will be 18 minutes of wash and soak cleaning action.
HANDWASH: is designed to clean items like nylons or lingerie.There will
be 6 minutes of intermittent wash and soak cleaning action.

LOAD SIZE
REMEMBER: Items must circulate freely
for best results.
Step 2 Select water level
Move the infinite slide lever up or down to
the desired setting or any point in between.
If more water is needed once the fill is complete, move the le v er up to reset and then to
the proper setting.
WHITES is designed to clean underwear, T-shirts and
other cotton sturdy items like towels, sheets, jeans etc.
HEAVY: 24-27 minutes of wash time.
NORMAL: 15 minutes of wash time.
LIGHT: 9 minutes of wash time.
COLORS is designed to clean col-
ored items as well as dress shirts,
dress pants, business casual and
poly/cotton to reduce wrinkling.
HEAVY: 21 minutes of wash time.
NORMAL: 15 minutes of wash time.
LIGHT:9 minutes of wash.
PRESOAK allows for a total of 33
minutes wash time.The first 12 minutes
are periods of agitation and soak followed by 21 minutes of agitation. PRESOAK automatically advances through
the wash cycle.

COLD/COLD – Brightly colored, lightly

LOAD TYPE
REMEMBER: In wash water tempera-
tures below 65° F, detergents do not dissolve well or clean well. Care labels
define cold water as up to 85° F.
If Auto T emperature Control is selected
with a Warm/Warm, Warm/Cold, or
Cold/Cold water temperature setting, the
light will illuminate during the first fill.
CANCEL – Press this button to cancel and
reset any of the options.
USE
EXTRA RINSE – Provides an additional
rinse at the end of the cycle to more completely remove laundry additives, suds,
perfume, etc.
REMIND CHIME – When this option is
selected, an end-of-cycle reminder chime
will sound every 4 minutes after the cycle
is completed. To cancel chime, push the
control knob in, press the CANCEL button
OR set CHIME Switch to OFF. (See pg. 6)
CLEAN LIGHT – When this option is
selected, the CLEAN indicator light will
illuminate at the end of the cycle.If the but-

restarted, the light will turn off. The
CLEAN light will reilluminate when the
cycle is complete.

reset any of the options.
SUPER WASH – Can be used with any
wash cycle to clean very heavily soiled
items. Provides fast agitation and normal
spin throughout all cycles.
GENTLE WASH – Can be used with any
wash cycle to provide a normal agitation
and slow spin. Use with delicate items
including those labeled “Hand Wash.”
AUTO TEMPERATURE CONTROL –
assures a cold water wash of 75° F and
warm water wash of 95° F. This option
assures detergent will dissolve and provide
optimum cleaning results.
• Add detergent and any additives
• Add load and close lid
• Pull the control dial out to start
Step 3 Select water

Press the appropriate button to select the
wash and rinse temperatures. Follow the
garment care label for best results. Use the
chart at the right as a guide.

customized cycle
Press the appropriate button(s) to select
one or more options.

Chlorine bleach dispenser
The dispenser automatically dilutes liquid
chlorine bleach before it reaches your wash
load.To use, follow these steps:
1. Measure liquid chlorine bleach carefully,
following the instructions on the bottle.
2. Add the bleach to the dispenser before
adding the load. Avoid splashing or overfilling the dispenser.Wipe up spills.
•Never pour undiluted liquid chlorine
bleach directly onto the load or into the
wash tub.It is a po werful chemical and
can cause fabric damage, such as
tearing or color loss, if not used properly.
• If you prefer to use color-safe, nonchlorine bleach, pour it into the wash
tub with your detergent. Do not pour
non-chlorine bleaches into the bleach
dispenser.
OPERATING TIPS
Fabric softener dispenser
This dispenser automatically releases liquid
fabric softener at the proper time during the
cycle.To use, follow these steps:
1. Pour liquid fabric softener into the dispenser using the amount recommended
on the package.
2. Add warm water to the dispenser until it
reaches the MAX line.Wipe up spills.
• Do not stop the washer during the first
spin. This will cause the dispenser to
empty too soon.
•Never pour fabric softener directly on
the load. It will leave spots and stains.
• Use the dispenser for liquid fabric sof-
teners only. Clean the area in and
around the dispenser frequently with
hot water, detergent and a soft brush.
Pour liquid fabric softener into cup and dilute with
warm water.
Pour liquid chlorine bleach into bleach dispenser.
For detailed information on sorting, pretreating stains, etc., see the enclosed Laundry Tips booklet.
Detergent
• Use either liquid or granular laundry
detergent. For best results, be sure
detergent is added to the washer
BEFORE the load and be sure wash
water is above 65˚ F.
• Use the correct amount of detergent for
the load size, soil level and water conditions. Use more detergent if you have
hard water and/or very soiled loads.
If you have soft water or a lightly soiled
load, use less detergent. (See manufacturer’s instructions.)
• Wipe up any detergent spills on the
washer.
Add detergent before the load.

Loading
• Put dry, unfolded clothes loosely in the
tub, up to the top row of holes for a maximum load.
• Do not wrap large items like sheets
around the agitator.
• Mix large and small items for best circulation. Wash bulky items like blankets
separately.
LoadSensor™agitator
The LoadSensor™ agitator is specially
designed to be sensitive to every load. The
spiral fins will move continuously with large,
heavy loads. With smaller, more delicate
loads, the spiral fins will move intermittently,
or with very light loads, not at all.It is normal
to notice a difference in the agitator sound
from load to load.
Adjustable chime
The end-of-cycle CHIME will sound once
when the cycle is completed.The volume of
the chime can be set on HI or LO, or turned
completely OFF by setting the switch in the
upper right-hand corner of the control panel.
The chime can also be set to sound once
every 4 minutes until it is manually turned
off.(See Step 4 Select a Customized Cycle,
pg. 4)

• When laundering wrinkle free items or
items of delicate construction, washable
woolens or loosely knit items, never use
less than the MEDIUM water level setting. This will minimize shrinkage, wrinkling and pulling of seams.
•For best results, add the detergent to
washtub before adding the load.
• Close lid carefully to avoid slamming.
Fingertip faucet
The Fingertip Faucet can be used anytime
BEFORE the selected water level is
reached. A simple touch of the switch provides a 7-second flow of cold water.
8. Move the slide indicator to the level of
the liquid in the sight glass (figure 3).For
your next load of laundry, just press and
hold the “PUSH” button until the detergent moves down to the slide indicator to
dispense detergent directly into the tub.
9. The sight glass on the right side shows
how much detergent remains in the dispenser. Refill the dispenser when the
detergent level nears the bottom of the
refill indicator window.
USING THE 30 DAY DETERGENT DISPENSER
Filling dispenser
1. Unscrew the dispenser fill cap (figure 1).
2. Pour in your favorite liquid detergent, up
to 100 fluid ounces at one time.
3. Replace the dispenser fill cap.
4. Close the washer lid.
5. Open the washer lid.
6. Move the slide indicator all the way to
the top (figure 1). Next, follow steps 7
and 8 to set the amount of detergent
used for the average load.
Steps 7 and 8 only need to be done
ONCE when first filling the dispenser or
changing brands of detergent.

NOTE:
7. Place the cap of your detergent bottle
under the “PUSH” button. Fill the cap
with detergent from the dispenser as full
as you would for most of your loads by
pressing and holding the “PUSH” button
(figure 2). Place the detergent from the
cap either in the tub or back in the dispenser.

To replace the dispenser
1. Place the top of the dispenser in the top
lip of the lid.
2. Push the bottom of the dispenser into
the bottom of the lid.
3. While supporting the bottom, use a
quarter and tur n each of the four screws
1/4 turn clockwise to lock the dispenser
into place.
To remove the dispenser
for cleaning
1. Support the bottom of the dispenser with
one hand. Use a quarter and turn four
slotted screws counter clockwise 1/4
turn (figure 4).
2. Pull the dispenser out from the bottom
of the lid.
3. Remove fill cap.
4. Fill with water about half way. Move the
dispenser from side to side to wash out
detergent.
5. With the dispenser over a large sink or
bath tub, turn it upside down to empty
the water/detergent out of the dispenser
fill area.
4. Close the washer lid.
5. Open the washer lid.
6. Press the “PUSH” button to release any
remaining water/detergent. Repeat
steps 4–6 until no more water can be
drained from the dispenser. It is nor mal
for a small amount of water to remain in
the dispenser after cleaning.
7. Refill the dispenser with your favorite
detergent (see page 7).
If you decide to change brands of liquid
detergent (Example: Tide
®
to Wisk®or
Tide with Bleach Alternative
®
to Tide®) it
is important the dispenser be empty
and clean before adding new detergent. Different detergents may interact
and clog the dispenser.

CARE AND CLEANING
STORING THE WASHER
Turn off the water faucets after finishing
the day’s washing. This will shut off the
water supply to the washer and prevent the
unlikely possibility of damage from escaping
water.
Washers can be damaged if water is not
removed from hoses and internal components before storage. Prepare the washer
for storage as follows:
• Select NORMAL on the WHITES cycle
and add one cup of bleach OR white
vinegar to a full load of water without
clothes. (Do not mix bleach and vinegar
in the same wash.Hazardous fumes can
form.) Run the washer through a complete cycle.
Use a soft cloth to wipe up all detergent,
bleach or other spills as they occur.
Clean the following as recommended:
Control Panel – clean with a soft, damp
cloth and glass cleaner. Do not use abrasive powders or cleaning pads.
Cabinet – clean with soap and water.
Interior – hard water deposits may be
removed using a recommended hard water
remover/cleaner labeled washer safe.
Follow the cleaner manuf acturer's directions
for use, and make sure the washer is run
through a complete cycle to rinse out any
remaining cleaning substance.
•Turn the water faucets off and disconnect
the inlet hoses.
• Disconnect the washer from the electrical supply and leave the washer lid open
to let air circulate inside the tub.
• If the washer has been stored in belowfreezing temperatures, allow time for the
washer to thaw out prior to use.
• After storage, select NORMAL on the
WHITES cycle and run the washer
through a complete cycle.

ALWAYS CHECK FIRST
• Plug cord into live electrical outlet.
• Check fuse or reset circuit breaker.
WON’T FILL
• Turn the control dial to proper cycle and
pull dial out to start the washer. If
equipped with buttons, be sure they are
fully depressed.
• Tur n both faucets on fully.
• Straighten inlet hoses.
• Disconnect hoses and clean screens.
Hose filter screens may be plugged at
the faucet.
WON’T AGITATE
• Make sure the lid is completely closed.
• Turn the control dial to proper cycle and
pull dial out to start the washer. If
equipped with buttons, be sure they are
fully depressed.
• Close lid and pull dial out to start the
washer. For your safety, washer will not
agitate or spin unless the lid is closed.
• The washer is equipped with a lid switch
failure detector. If the lid switch should
malfunction, the detector will stop operations for your safety. Call for service.
•Pauses are normal. Wait and see if the
washer will start again.
WON’T SPIN OR DRAIN
• Straighten drain hoses. Eliminate kinked
hoses. If there is a drain restriction, call
for service.
• Close lid and pull dial out to start the
washer. For your safety, washer will not
agitate or spin unless the lid is closed.
• The washer is equipped with a lid switch
failure detector. If the lid switch should
malfunction, the detector will stop operations for your safety. Call for service.
• If drain height is five to eight feet, a highvolume pump kit may be necessary. See
installation instructions or call 1-800688-9900.If the drain height is over eight
feet, water may not be removed, even
with the high volume pump kit.
LOAD IS WETTER THAN NORMAL AT
THE END OF THE CYCLE
• The washer is designed to reduce
spin speed if an unbalanced load is
detected.This is normal.
• Redistribute the load in the tub and
set the washer on SPIN.
STOPS
• Turn the control dial to proper cycle and
pull dial out to start the washer. If
equipped with buttons, be sure they are
fully depressed.
• Close lid and pull dial out to start the
washer. For your safety, washer will not
agitate or spin unless lid is closed.
• This may be a pause or soak period
in the cycle. Wait briefly and it may
start.
• The washer is equipped with a lid switch
failure detector. If the lid switch should
malfunction, the detector will stop fill operations for your safety. Call for service.
LEAKS W A TER
• Make sure water inlet hose connections
are tight at faucet and water valve.
• Make sure end of drain hose is correctly
inserted and secured to drain facility.
• Avoid extended soaking – soak for
30 minutes or less.
•Avoid overloading.
IS NOISY
• Be sure washer is leveled properly
as outlined in installation manual.
• Weak floors can cause vibration and
walking.
• Be sure rubber feet are installed on
leveling legs.
•A clicking sound may be the
LoadSensor™ agitator as it moves
the load down through the cleaning
zone for maximum cleaning effectivness.
This sound will vary from load to load.This
is normal.
• Operating sounds will vary depending
on agitation speed.
FILLS WITH THE WRONG TEMPERA TURE W ATER
• Tur n both faucets on fully.
• Make sure temperature selection is
correct.
• If Auto Temperature Control is selected,
cold water may feel warmer than cold
water from the tap (see page 4).
• Make sure hoses are connected to correct faucets and inlet connections. Be
sure water supply is regulated correctly.
Flush water line before filling washer.
• Check the water heater. It should be set
to deliver a minimum 120°F (49°C) hot
water at the tap. Also check water heater
capacity and recovery rate.
• Disconnect hoses and clean screens.
Hose filter screens may be plugged.
CYCLE SELECTOR DIAL ADVANCES
THROUGH “OFF”
• Extra Rinse is selected.
FINGERTIP FAUCET WILL NOT
OPERATE
• The water level switch has detected a
full tub.No more water will be added to
prevent the tub from overflowing.
