This conversion kit is to be installed by a qualified Maytag Distributor, Dealer or Service Technician in accordance with the manufacturer’s instruction observing all codes and requirements of the authority having jurisdiction. Failure to follow instructions could result in serious injury or property damage. The qualified agency performing this work assumes responsibility for this conversion.

This conversion shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Provincial Authorities having jurisdiction and in accordance with the requirements of the Can/CGA-B149.1 and B149.2 installation code.

Procedure:
1. Shut off gas supply to dryer, if connected, and disconnect power supply cord.
2. Remove front panel by removing screws at the lower front of dryer. Be sure to reconnect door switch wiring.
3. Conversion kit should be installed with the gas control assembly left in place on the dryer and without breaking any sealed gas connections to the dryer or within the dryer.
4. Disconnect the igniter wires and remove the main burner assembly from the gas controls assembly bracket. CAUTION: Use care in removal to avoid damage to the igniter.
5. Remove the Main Burner Orifice Spud and replace it with matching length orifice from kit.

Note: This kit contains the parts to convert either a Type K or Type M gas valve. To determine the gas
valve used in the dryer to be converted, check the position of the coils on the top of the valve. For Type K valves, the coils are in line with the inlet; on Type M valves, the coils are in line with the outlet.
6. Reassemble the burner assembly to the gas controls assembly bracket.

7. Remove the leak limiter (vent cap) from the top of the pressure regulator.
8. Install regulator block open plug on top of pressure regulator and tighten moderately.
9. Re-connect all wires.
10. The LP gas converted dryer should have an input of 24,000 BTU/hr. with a manifold pressure of 11 in. water
column.
11. Manifold pressure may be checked by removing the 1/8 in. NPT hex pipe plug from the gas valve (or from the gas line directly upstream of the dryer) and replacing it with a 1/8 in. NPT pipe tap. A manometer capable of measuring pressures greater than 11 in. W.C. should be connected to the pipe tap.
12. Turn on the gas supply and use a liquid soap solution or a leak tester to check for possible gas leaks.
Plug has been colored blue; Orifice Spuds have been stamped with size.
