PRODUCT USE & CARE
Welcome to Maxwell & Williams USA.
DINNERWARE
Dinnerware Durability: Maxwell & Williams USA brand bone china and porcelain are very
durable and when properly cared for, will last for many years. Pieces with a gold or platinum
band or detail are not microwave safe. Fine bone china should not be used for cooking purposes.
Fine china is not suitable for use in the freezer or oven. Porcelain dinnerware is microwave safe.
Washing by Hand: When washing by hand, avoid using scouring pads and/or abrasive
detergents. Most stains can be removed by soaking the item in warm water before washing.
Teapot and coffeepot stains can be removed with Barkeepers Friend, and toothpaste will remove
"pencil marks" caused by minute mineral deposits of from cutlery.
Washing Your Dinnerware in a Dishwasher: Please note, it is not recommended to place any
dinnerware with metallic banding in the dishwasher. For all non-banded Maxwell & Williams
USA brand dinnerware, it is safe to wash in an automatic dishwasher, provided you adhere to the
following guidelines. Load the washer so that pieces do not touch each other, to avoid the risk of
scratching. Do not overload. Wash at 149°F maximum - the "short wash" or "china and crystal"
cycle is sufficient for normal cleaning. As soon as the wash water has drained away, there should
be an immediate rinse cycle to flush away deposits of detergent, which will form a film if
allowed to dry on the ware.
Recommended Liquid Dish Detergents: Any liquid or gel dish detergent from a national brand.
Recommended Standard Powders: Cascade and Dishwasher All
Hard Water: In hard water areas, deposits may form on your dinnerware over a period if the
water is allowed to dry on the ware. These soluble deposits can easily be removed with a 50/50
solution of vinegar and water.
Enjoy Every Day: All Maxwell & Williams USA dinnerware is made for everyday use. All new
patterns are put through an exhaustive series of tests to ensure that colors are as hard wearing as
possible. Quality checks are constantly carried out to monitor the ability of the ware to resist the
rigors of day-to-day use.
CRYSTAL & GLASS
Fine crystal and glass require the gentlest of care to maintain brilliance and integrity for years to
come.

Washing by Hand: When washing by hand, avoid using scouring pads and/or abrasive
detergents. To prevent spotting, combine quarter cup ammonia with a mild lemon detergent.
Rinse in clean water and air dry on a rack.
Washing Crystal and Glass in the Dishwasher: We do not recommend washing fine crystal or
glassware in an automatic dishwasher as overtime crystal may lose brilliance. However, if crystal
and glassware must be machine washed, please exercise these precautions.
Use your dishwasher's "fine crystal and china" setting. For dishwashers without this
setting, use the "air-dry only" cycle. After the cycle is complete, open the door to air dry.
Use half the recommended amount of cleanser, as even the mildest brands are abrasive.
Ideally, lower the top dishwasher rack to accommodate the height of your crystal.
Space your crystal or glass pieces on the rack so not to touch one another, since vibration
during the washing and rinsing cycles can chip or crack the crystal or glass.
Use & Durability: Remember that fine crystal and glassware can crack or break when subjected
to extremes of hot and cold. Do not wash a crystal or glass piece that's just come out of the
refrigerator; allow it to warm to room temperature first.
California Proposition 65: California's Proposition 65 entitles California consumers to special
warnings for products that contain chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and
birth defects or other reproductive harm if those products expose consumers to such chemicals
above certain threshold levels. Lead levels in the Maxwell & Williams USA crystal glasses
comply with FDA standards. California requires the following separate notice:
WARNING: Consuming foods or beverages that have been kept or served in leaded crystal
products will expose you to lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth
defects or other reproductive harm.
COOKS' TOOLS
Washing in the Dishwasher: Maxwell & Williams USA cooks' tools, cutlery and gadgets are
dishwasher safe. We recommend using a gentle dishwasher detergent (avoid using lemonscented products).
COOKWARE & BAKEWARE
Microstoven™ Durability: Maxwell & Williams USA brand Microstoven range is very durable
and when properly cared for, will last for many years. The entire range is stovetop, oven
microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe. Each piece is lightweight, ideal for straight from oven
to table. The key mineral ingredient of Microstoven’s unique material is Spodumene, sourced
and mined in Australia. The addition of Spodumene creates a thermal-shock-resistant, flameproof stoneware body that is suitable for cooking on both electric and gas stovetops as well as
the oven and microwave. All Microstoven pieces feature a double-coat of Xylan non-stock
surface to prevent scratching and food sticking.

Cooking with Microstoven: The best utensils to use with Microstoven products are those made
from wood, nylon or silicone to avoid damaging the Xylan non-stick surface. Maxwell &
Williams Maxi Cooks' Tools range offers the perfect solution with an array of color-coordinating
utensils. Moderate heat is recommended when cooking on the stovetop to prevent burning. Up to
400-degrees Fahrenheit (200-degrees Celsius) when cooking in the oven. We recommend
selecting 'medium heat' when using Microstoven in the microwave.
Take care to protect surfaces as well as your Microstoven pieces by placing product on a soft
cloth or board after removing from a hot oven or stovetop. This will help avoid thermal shock,
cracking caused by rapid temperature changes.
Washing in the Dishwasher: The entire range of Microstoven pieces are dishwasher safe.
Washing by Hand: We recommend washing your Microstoven pieces in hot, soapy water with a
sponge or nylon scourer. Do not use abrasive cleaners that can scratch, damage and dull the nonstock surface.
MIXED MATERIALS
Washing in the Dishwasher: We do not recommend washing any metal and/or mixed materials
in the dishwasher. Handwash any slate stone components.
Washing by Hand: For all Maxwell & Williams USA mixed materials, including stainless steel,
silver-plated, nickel-plated, alternative metals and slate stone, we recommend hand washing.
Barware should be hand washed with a mild detergent. Do not use lemon-scented detergents. Do
not use abrasive cleaners that can scratch and dull metal surface. Be diligent in rinsing items as
soon as possible that may have come in contact with some foods such as eggs, mayonnaise,
vinegar, lemon juice, etc. Do not let slate stone soak for long periods of time in water. To prevent
spotting, make sure each piece of mixed materials is completely dry before storing.
