WHEN TO USE CLEANINIG CARTRIDGE
If the ‘Use Cleaning Tape’ light is ON, then the DLT drive’s read/write heads need cleaning.
Handle the cleaning cartridge carefully. The cleaninig cartridge may be damaged if it is dropped. Label should go only in the Front Slide Slot. D o not put any labels on the top, bottom, sides, or rear of the cleaning cartridge. When not in use, the cleaning cartridge should be stored in its protective plastic container. Do not store the cartridge in direct sunlight.
CAUTION
This cartridge is designed for use with DLT 1/2'' cartridge drives only.
INSERTING THE CLEANING CARTRIDGE INTO THE DLT DRIVE
• Verify that the system power is turned on.
• If the ‘Use Cleaning Tape’ light (orange) is ON, wait for the ‘Operate Handle’ light (green) to come ON, then pull the handle up to the open position.
• Before you insert any tape cartridge, you should inspect it to ensure that it is not damaged.
• Insert the cleaning cartridge fully into the drive until a firm stop is encountered, making sure the label in the Front Slide Label Slot is facing outward.
• Push the handle down to the closed position. The ‘Tape in Use’ light (yellow) blinks as the tape loads. When the tape is ready to clean, the ‘Tape in Use’ light (yellow) comes on steady, and cleaning begins automatically. When the ‘Use Cleaning Tape’ light (orange) shuts OFF, a cleaning cycle is complete.
• If the ‘Use Cleaning Tape’ light remains ON, then a cleaning cycle has NOT been done, and the cleaning cartridge is expired and must be replaced.
REMOVING THE CLEANING CARTRIDGE FROM THE DLT DRIVE
• When the ‘Operate Handle’ light (green) is ON, pull the handle up to the open position to remove the cleaning cartridge.
• Remove the cleaning cartridge and push the handle down to the closed position.
• After each cleaning cartridge use, follow the instructions shown on the Front Slide Label.
USING CLEANING CARTRIDGE WITH DLT MAGAZINE TAPE SUBSYSTEMS
• If ‘Use Cleaning Tape’ light is ON, insert the cleaning cartridge into magazine slot, load the magazine, and manually select the slot which has the cleaning cartridge. Press the Load/Unload button. The cleaning cartridge will load and cleaning will begin automatically.
• When ‘Use Cleaning Tape’ light shuts OFF, a cleaning cycle is complete. To remove the cleaning cartridge from the subsystem, press the ‘Eject” button, remove the magazine from the subsystem, and remove the cleaning cartridge from the magazine.
• If the ‘Use Cleaning Tape’ light remains ON, then a cleaning cycle has NOT been done, and the cleaning cartridge is expired and must be replaced.
• After each cleaning cartridge use, follow the instructions shown on the Front Slide Label.

CLEANING CARTRIDGE STORAGE
To prevent condensation and for long life, the cleaning cartridge should only be operated or stored in the environmental conditions shown below. If the cleaning cartridge has been exposed to greater extremes for a period of time, it must be stored in the environment described below for an equivalent time period (up to 24 hours) before use.

For longer life of the cleaning cartridge, always store the cleaning cartridge in its plastic container and in room environment conditions of 73˚ F w 9˚ F (23˚ C w 5˚ C), 50% w 10% Relative Humidity.
