BEFORE USE
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
INDICATIONS
This instruction manual uses various indications to help you use this instrument safely and properly. The following describes those indications.
WARNING:
Negligence could lead to serious injury or death.
CAUTION:
Negligence could lead to an injury, damage of your property, or cause loss of created data.
Describes operations that may cause damage to the instrument and require a condition of the instrument.
Describes the points of operation and tips. Describes a functional precaution.
SYMBOLS
Denotes “What you should be aware of.” Denotes “What you must not do.” An indication in or near this symbol shows a
specific prohibition. Denotes “What you must do.” An indication in this symbol shows a specific
instruction.
WARNING
Never touch a switch (white) by hand. It could cause an injury when the stapler is abruptly activated.
Never disassemble or modify this instrument. It could cause a fire, electric shock,
or other problems.

WARNING
Do not insert foreign substances such as fingers, pens, or wire into this instrument.
It could damage the instrument or cause a fire or an injury.
Obtain power directly from a single plug socket. Avoid connecting many wires to
one plug socket. It could lead to a fire.
Do not place any heavy material on a power cord. It could cause damage or a fire.
Do not connect/disconnect a power plug with a wet hand. It could cause an electric
shock.
Do not insert your fingers into this instrument. It could cause an injury when the
stapler is abruptly activated.
Do not splash water or chemicals on the instrument. It could damage the
instrument or cause a fire.
Keep a staple cartridge on the place where children can not touch it. If children
take a staple, contact a doctor soon.
Use correct supply voltage. Other voltage level could damage the instrument or
cause a fire or an electronic shock.
Use only specified AC adapter (AC100-240V, 50-60Hz) appended to the instrument.
If water gets inside the instrument, disconnect a power plug immediately from a plug
socket and contact your dealer/distributor for a repair. It could damage the
instrument or cause a fire or electric shock.
Do not operate the instrument, if it is out of order. If it is operated in an out-of-order state, such as it is smoking, emitting an abnormal sound, or smelling funny, it could
cause a fire or electric shock. Disconnect a power plug immediately from a socket
and contact your dealer/distributor for a repair.
Disconnect the power cord when replacing the staple cartridge or clearing jammed staples. It could cause an injury when the stapler is abruptly activated.
CAUTION
Do not insert the fingers into the stapling area. It could cause an injury.
Do not touch a motor when replacing a staple cartridge. It is very hot just after
stapling and you could get burned.
Do not share the electronic outlet with equipment (air conditioner, refrigerator, microwave, office automation equipment and so on) that requires a large capacity.
The voltage drops and the instrument could malfunction.
Do not put paper or cloth on the instrument. It could damage the instrument or cause a fire.
Do not staple any other paper except PPC paper. It could damage the instrument.
When the instrument is not used for a long period of time, be sure to disconnect a
power plug from a power socket for safety.
When moving the instrument be sure to disconnect a power plug from a power
socket for safety. Or the cord could be broken and cause a fire or electric shock.

CAUTION
Clean a power cord plug regularly. Dust on the plug could cause a fire.
When disconnecting a power cord, be sure to hold a power plug. Do not pull on the
power cord, or the cord could be broken and cause a fire or electric shock.
Do not install the instrument on the place that is not level or that is subject to vibration. It could damage the instrument or cause an injury because it might fall
or drop.
Wash your hands / body immediately with soap if the grease is attached on them when replacing a staple cartridge.
Use only specified AC adapter (AC100-240V, 50-60 Hz) appended to the instrument.
Use the instrument indoor dry location. It could cause an electric shock or damage
the instrument when operating it in the high humidity place.
In order to prevent problems with the instrument, observe the following precautions.
Install this instrument away from the following places:
1. Any place that catches direct sunlight or is located close to a heat source.
2. Any place that has dust or high humidity.
3. Any place that is not level or that is subject to vibration.
4. Any place that the temperature goes below 0 /32 or over 40 /104 .
Use only MAX No. 70FE Staple Cartridge.
Use a dry cloth to clean dirt of the instrument. Do not use solvents (alcohol,
benzene, thinner, etc.) or a damp cloth.
This machine does not staple when Case cape is opened because of safety. Close Case cap correctly when stapling.

LOADNG THE STAPLE CARTRIDGE
Prior to loading the staple cartridge into the machine, prepare and check it.
(1) As shown in the figure, pull the
stopper attached below the staple cartridge in the arrow direction to remove it.
(2) If a staple sheet is come out of the
cartridge, push it into the cartridge. It could cause a jammed staple.
WARNING
Disconnect the power cord when loading the staple cartridge or clearing jammed staples. It could cause an injury when the stapler is abruptly activated.

Disconnect the power cord from a plug socket.
(1) Open the case cap.
(2) Load the staple cartridge in the arrow
direction.
(3) Close the case cap.
(4) Connect the power cord to the plug
socket.

STAPLING AUTOMATICALLY
WARNING
Never touch the white-colored switch. It could cause an injury when the
stapler is abruptly activated.
(1) Slide the selector switch to the
“Auto,” which is located on top of
the main body.
(2) Stapling depth is adjustable within a
range of approx. 6 to 18 mm (1/4” to 3/4”) for parallel stapling. Loosen the depth control knob and move it back and forth to adjust to your desired depth.

(3) The mark on the front of the machine
is the center of the horizontal stapling position. Move the paper to the right and left to set your desired position.
Be sure to turn the depth control knob to the “LOCK” position after adjusting the slider. Fixing the slider in the “UNLOCK” position could cause the stapling sensor to malfunction or break.

STAPLING MANUALLY
When stapling the paper on the edge (stapling depth: 3 to 6 mm, 1/8” to 1/4”), use the Manual button.
(1) Slide the selector switch to the
“Manual,” which is located on top of the main body.
(2) Pull out the paper table to the near
side.
(3) Insert the paper and press the
Manual button to staple it.

STAPLING ON THE CORNER
(1) When stapling on the corner, insert
the corner of the paper.
(2) If the stapling depth is set to 6 mm
(1/4”), the paper will be stapled at the position of about 12 mm (1/2”) from
its edge.
When the machine is used for the first time, it will perform a few (5 – 7) idle strokes without actually stapling papers. This is normal and occurs while the staples are being fed to the stapling position.

REPLACING THE STAPLE CARTRIDGE (No. 70FE)
If the staples run out in the cartridge, the LED lamp on top of the machine will be illuminated in red in order to inform of replacement of cartridge. In this case, the paper cannot be stapled, even if it is inserted. Replace the cartridge as instructed below.
WARNING
Disconnect the power cord when loading the staple cartridge. It could cause an injury when the stapler is abruptly activated.
(1) Disconnect the power cord from a
plug socket.
(2) Open the case cap.
(3) Hold the cartridge and pull it upward
to detach it.
(4) Load a new cartridge.

If you have removed the cartridge before it runs out of the staples, the following condition may occur in the cartridge. Seeing the following, load the cartridge again.
(1) The staple sheet is exposed from the
cartridge.
In this case, push the staple sheet into the cartridge.
1. Use MAX genuine staple cartridge “No.70FE.”
2. Do not set the broken and shortened staples into the cartridge or load them into the machine to reuse them. They could cause a trouble or staple jam.
3. Do not touch the staple sensor or feeding roller of staple when removing staples from the
machine.

CLEARING JAMMED STAPLES
If the staples jam, eliminate them as follows:
WARNING
Disconnect the power cord when clearing jammed staples. It could cause an injury when the stapler is abruptly activated.
(1) Disconnect the power cord from a
plug socket.
(2) Open the case cap.
(3) Hold the cartridge and pull it upward
to detach it.
(4) Pushing inside the green lever
located on the front of the main body, pull up the opener handle.
(5) Remove the jamming staples.
And then, push down the opener handle to its original position.

Contains a guaranteed minimum of 5,000 staples.
1. Stapling capacity depends on the kind of paper. The machine might not staple up to 70 sheets in the other kind of paper. In this case, do not staple it forcibly.
2. In case of stapling continually for a long time, the machine might not staple because the motor would be very hot. In this case, stop operating for 30 minutes or more to cool motor. And then, start to operate again.
3. Operate less than 70 sheets (55kg / 16-lb.bond paper). It could cause damage the machine when operating the machine over the specification.
4. Contact your dealer or distributor with telephone or e-mail if machine would be out of order or you have any problem.
