Avoid installing the unit in locations described below:

- Places exposed to direct sunlight or close to heat radiating appliances such as electric heaters.

- On top of other stereo equipment that radiate too much heat.

- Places blocking ventilation or dusty places.

- Places subject to constant vibration.

- Humid or moist places.

Minimum distances around the apparatus for sufficient ventilations is 10cm;
The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items such as
newspaper, table-cloths, curtains, etc.
The use of apparatus in moderate climates.
Operate controls and switches as instructed in the manual.
Before turning on the power for the first time, make sure the power cord is properly installed.

For safety reasons, do not remove any covers or attempt to gain access to the inside of the product.
Refer any servicing to qualified personnel.

When the radio is connected to the power for the first time, the display backlight will be on for
a few seconds, the display will first show a
greeting and then the clock. Press the STANDBY
button once to turn the radio on, DAB will be
automatically selected and perform a auto

DAB MODE

If the radio is connected to the power and then switched on from standby for the first time, the
radio will automatically enter into the DAB auto tune full scan mode. During this mode, the
display will show a slide bar to indicate the progress of the scan.
Unlike normal radio, the separate signals from a number of stations are grouped together and
transmitted in a single frequency; these groups are referred to as multiplexes and ensembles.
Every time one of these groups has been found, the name of that group will be displayed on
the bottom half of the display.

Autotune modes

There are two types of auto tune modes, one is quick scan and the other is full scan. Quick scan will
only search for the UK DAB Band III channels and full scan will search all DAB Band III channels. Once
the scan has finished, the radio will select the first alphanumerically found station.

1. To activate the quick scan, press the AUTOTUNE button once, the display will show “Autotune
Quick scan” and then a progressing slide bar and “Searching...”.(F4)

2. To activate full scan, press and hold the AUTOTUNE button until the display shows “Autotune Full
scan”.(F5)

3. To explore the stations that have been found, press the UP or DOWN button.

Auto select on /off

You can explore the found stations by pressing the UP or DOWN button, if the auto select is “ON”, the
station will be automatically selected when the button is released, and the name of the station will
be displayed. If the auto select is “OFF”, you have to press the SELECT button to switch to that station
when the display shows your desired station, otherwise it will revert back to the original station after 4
seconds.

To toggle between the auto select “ON” and “OFF”, press the UP or DOWN button and then quickly
press and hold the SELECT button until the display shows the “Autoselect ON” or “Autoselect
OFF”.(F8)(F9)

Manual tuning

1. To select manual tuning, press and hold the SELECT button until the display shows “Manual
tune”.(F6)

2. Press the UP or DOWN button to move through the DAB channels, on the top half of the display will
show “5A to 13F” and their associated frequencies. When your radio locates a station group
(ensemble/multiplex) on one of the DAB channels, the name of the station group will appear on
the bottom half of the display.(F7)

3. To enter the ensemble/multiplex, press the SELECT button, the top half of the display will show the
first station in the ensemble/multiplex.

4. Press the UP or DOWN button to see what stations are present on the found ensemble/multiplex,
when you have located your desired station, press the SELECT button, and at the same time, you
will also exit from the manual tuning mode.

FM MODE

1. To select FM, press the DAB/FM button, the display will show “Switching to FM” and it will
automatically tune to the nearest station. The top half of the display will show the station
name or frequency if RDS is not available.(F10)(F11)

2. To activate auto search up, press the AUTOTUNE button, it will start scanning up the
frequency band and stop automatically once a station has been found.

3. To activate auto search down, press and hold the AUTOTUNE Button until it starts to scan
down the frequency band.

4. To activate manual search, press the UP or DOWN button.

5. To select audio mode, press the SELECT button, “Audio mode” will be displayed, again
press the SELECT button to toggle between “Auto” or “Mono” selection.

Note: The radio will automatically switch between stereo and mono mode, but you can
override this and switch this function manually which is helpful for poor signal reception.

STORING AND RECALLING STORED STATIONSSTORING AND RECALLING STORED STATIONS

You can store up to 5 of your favourite stations to the preset; this will enable you to get access to your
favourite station at a touch of a single button.

1. To store a preset, first tune to your desired station,

then press and hold your preferred PRESET button
(1 - 5) until The display shows “Preset # stored”.(F12)

2. To recall a preset station, press the PRESET button.

(1 - 5)

3. If you press a preset that hasn’t been allocated a station, the display will show “Preset # empty”.

The broadcaster can include scrolling text that displays information about the present programme. If the
information is not available, the display will show “<No RT>”.

This describes the style of the programme that is being broadcast. If the information is not available, the
display will show “<No PTY>”.

The display will show a slide bar to indicate the signal
strength, the stronger the signal, the longer the bar will be
from left to right.(F13)

The time and date will be automatically updated by the broadcasted information; it is no need to set the
clock manually. In the unlikely event that no clock information is received, the display will show
“<Time/Date>”.

The Ensemble/Multiplex is a collection of radio stations that are bundled and transmitted together in a
single frequency. There are national and local multiplexes, local ones contain stations that are specific to
that area.

On some occasions you will see a “>” symbol appeared after the name of the station, this indicates that
there are secondary services available to that station. These secondary services contain extra services that
relate to the primary station.

DLS stands for Dynamic Label Segment which is a scrolling message that the broadcaster may include in
their transmissions. The message usually includes information such as programme details ...etc.

Factory ResetFactory Reset

When you move the radio to another part of the country, your pre-tuned DAB stations may no longer be
available and you might need to reset your radio back to its original factory settings; to perform factory
reset, please do the following:

1. Unplug the unit from mains.

2. Press and hold the SELECT button when re-connecting the unit to mains again.

3. Empty presets after reset. Press the button until System reset is displayed on the LCD, then release.

4. Default presets after reset. Press the button until Press Preset for defaults is displayed, then press and
release any of the Preset buttons. After the scan has finished the following stations will be stored in the
presets if the station can be received : 1=Radio 1, 2=BBC 5 Live, 3=BBC World and 4=Virgin.

5. The unit will perform "Autotune Full scan".

6. After the searching (around 1 minute depends on the no. of stations), press the SELECT button together
With the SELECT UP & DOWN buttons for stations.
NOTE: All of your stored DAB & FM presets will be lost once the reset has taken place.

SLEEP TIMER FUNCTIONSLEEP TIMER FUNCTION

This function allows you to program the radio to switch itself off after a set period of time. You can set your
sleep time in either standby or power on mode; if the sleep button is pressed in standby, the radio will switch
on automatically.

1. To activate the sleep function, press the SLEEP button, the display will show “SLEEP 90 mins”.

2. Repeatedly press the SLEEP button, the time will change in the below sequence on every press:

3. When the display shows your desired sleep time, press the SELECT button to confirm or release all the

buttons, the sleep time will be automatically confirmed in 3 seconds. The display will show “SLEEP
Confirmed” and “SLP” will be then displayed to indicate that the sleep timer is on.
