RESOURCES FOR USING SPECIALTY TOOLS
Air Shock Adjustment Tool
The “Matrix IC7 - Gas Shock Replacement” video on the Matrix Fitness YouTube channel (playlist:
Service Videos) shows how to use this tool. Relevant instructions begin at 02:27.
There are two air shocks (also called gas shocks) on the bike: One is inside the seat post and the other is
inside the handlebar post.
1. Close the corresponding vertical adjustment flip lever.
2. Turn the bike on its side and remove the gas damper bracket cover.
3. Place the tool between the engagement lever and the bowden cable.
1
Use the air shock adjustment tool to tension the air shock cables:
4. When properly tensioned, the tool should fit snugly. If it does not, use a flat-head screwdriver to
turn the corresponding ferrale adjustment bolt.
1
Additional notes for testing the air shocks:
• With the seat or handlebars in the most elevated position and the adjustment lever locked, put all of your
weight on the seat/handlebar and try to get it to drop. If it does, you may need to adjust the ferrule on
the shock. If adjusting does not help, the shock may need to be replaced.
• When you release the vertical seat post locking lever, the shock will push the seat up by itself. Lifting the
vertical handlebar locking lever will not cause the handlebar to lift up. This is due to the weight of the
handlebar – it is not a problem with the shock.
