As manufacturers and suppliers of heating products, we take every care, as far as is reasonably practicable, that these products are so designed and constructed as to meet the general safety requirement when properly used and installed. To this end, our products are thoroughly tested and examined beforr despatch.

necessary personal protective clothing is worn when handling these materials, see below for

may be harmful if in aled, may be irritating to skin, eyes, nose and throat.
When handling
avoid inhaling and contact with skin or eyes. Use disposable gloves,
facemasks and eye protection. After handling wash hands and other exposed parts. If a vacuum
is used for cleaning~he coals or cleaning after servicing / installation it is recommended that it be of the type fitted ith a HEPA filter.
Disposal of refracto /ceramic materials.
To keep dust to a minimum these materials
should be securely wrapped in polythene and be clearly labelled 'RCF waste'. These materials are not classified as 'hazardous waste and should be disposed of at a site licensed for the disposal of industrial waste.
The LEANLlNE I~ITC is a decorative fuel effect appliance with a radiant heat conserver box
for improved efficiency.
This appliance is intended for decorative purposes.
The LEANLlNE ~I TC is designed and tested to the requirements of the EN 509.
The appliance is for use on Natural Gas only and should be installed by a competent person
i.e. CORGI-regi tered, in accordance with the GAS SAFETY (INSTALLATION AND USE) REGULATIONS.
The chimney or flue (unless new or previously used with a gas appliance) must be swept
before installatioh if it has been used for solid fuel.
This appliance has a naked flame, as with all such fires it is recommended that a fireguard should be used for the protection of children, the elderly and infirm. Fireguards should conform to SS 6539 (1984) (Fireguards for use with solid fuel appliances).

INTRODUCTION
The LEANLlNE III Te incorporates a single gas control, which selects ignition pilot, low or high settings. It is operated via a slide lever on the upper right hand side of the appliance.
The appliance incoJorates a safety device in the form of an Oxygen Depletion System, which constantly monitors ~he oxygen in the room and will cause the fire to switch off if the oxygen level reduces, for instance due to insufficient ventilation or a blocked flue.
If this regularly occurs do not attempt to relight the appliance until a qualified engineer has
checked it, the problem may not be due to lack of air or a defective flue.
The pilot can be left ~n or the pilot can be extinguished and relit each time the fire is used.
A fire front (fret) muJt be used with this appliance.
SECTION TWO •. "
THE FULL L1G TING PROCEDURE IS AS FOLLOWS: -
a. Push slide co trol lever down, as far as possible a clicking noise will be heard and pilot
will light, HOL.D DOWN FIRMLY FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS.
b. Allow the lever to spring up the pilot light should remain alight and the main burner
should light o~ its low setting.
c. Should the pi ot fail to light, pull the lever fully up to turn off the appliance, wait 3 minutes
and repeat th procedure (a &b). If the pilot does not light and no clicking noise is heard replace the battery and try again.
d. After lighting the pilot flame and the main burner on its low setting the control lever may
be lifted until slight resistance is felt, this will put the burner on its high setting.
e. To completelr extinguish the fire, pull the lever up past the resistance to its fullest extent.
The fire may Xe operated on either its low or high setting.
f. It is recomme1nded that the appliance be operated on its high setting for a short period
before adjusting to the low setting.
g. BEFORE REQUESTING HELP SHOULD THE FIRE FAIL TO LIGHT, ENSURE A NEW
BATTERY IS FITTED
Note: - If the iJnition fails the pilot can be lit with a taper or a match held at t~ pilot head. Remove fret for access and replace after lighting. If the fire is extinguished for any reason wait 3 minutes before
reliting.

It is important that al the fuel bed and moulded shapes are positioned as shown in these
instructions.
Two Alternative Fuel beds are available: -

A) Coal
B) Pebble
Identify the fuel bed nd assemble as shown below.
COAL FUEL BED
Some soot deposit~ will form on the coals, this is perfectly normal and adds to the realism of the appl"ance.
The Loose coal set consists of: -

Ensure the rear matrix is in position as shown.
Positioned well back against the rear of the appliance.
Ensure the front coal is located behind the burner fascia as shown.

Place a row of 5 'B' ~oals as shown. Ensure the fronts of these coals are supported by the front coal and the rear edges rest on top of the rear matrix.
Note: These coals ~ust be position on top of the rear
matrix and
not into fhe valleys and no coals should be
placed on top of the burner.

far as possible.
Ensure the fron Matrix is located behind the burner fascia as phown.

Place three Lar~e Pebbles on top of the rear matrix as shownj so that they are pushed tightly
against the rearlof the firebox. Position the Two
Small Pebbles ~o that they sit on the slopping
sides of the Rear Matrix and the top edge of the
Half Pebbles as Shown.

Place four Large pebbles on top of the rear matrix and front row of lPebbles as shown, position them in the spaces between the front row of Pebbles.

Warning: -Before YGlUclean any part of the appliance ensure that the appliance is turned off and cool.
CLEANING: DEdoRATIVE TRIM
The finish of the"'~rim is coated with a high temperature lacquer, it can be wiped with a soft, clean, dry, cloth qnlY.
The trim should be removed for cleaning. The fret should be removed before removing the trim, which is held in place by four magnetic strips.
CLEANING: BL~CK PAINTED or CHROME EFFECT SURFACES
These surfaces' Jhould be dusted regularly and any marks removed with a soft cloth.
Abrasive or chemical cleaner should never be used.

The coals&pebb es are delicate and they should be handled with great care.
The loose coals may be removed for cleaning. They can be brushed very gently with a soft
brush to remove dust or any deposits.
Care should be t~ken to avoid contact with the refractory lining, this is a delicate surface and
should not be wi~ed or rubbed.
A vacuum cleaner may only be used after all the loose coals have been removed.
SECTION FI E
Like all apPliancesiincorporating an aerated burner a Low frequency noise may be heard, particularly on the ow setting, this is quite normal and does not affect the operation of the appliance.
It is advised that the LEANLlNE III TC OR III TC Lo fire is serviced annually this is more likely to
provide trouble-free operation.
It is important that: -

The chimney or ~Iueis checked annually to ensure clearance of combustion products.
The fire does not normally require purpose-built ventilation but if for any special reason purpose-built ventilation is provided it should be checked periodically to ensure freedom from obstruction.
Any debris fromlhe chimney or flue should be removed. The fire should be allowed to cool for three to four ours before it is removed.
Rubbish must n t be thrown onto the coal bed under any circumstances.
The cast fire front must be positioned in front of the fire whilst it is burning
