1 About this Application Note
This Application Note describes the installation procedure for the Diskeeper® program.
2 About Diskeeper
The Diskeeper software prevents file fragmentation that mainly occurs when a job is
RIPed directly from the Caldera/ColorGate to the Barak/UVStar printer.
The Barak/UVStar computers run on the Windows operating system. This system
cannot allocate space for the flow of the complete RIPed file. Therefore it continuously
saves parts of the file in a number of sectors that are not necessarily adjacent to each
other.
When the RIPed file has been completely transferred, the result is thousands of
fragmented files, scattered over the hard drive. Consequently, as the printer prints at a
speed of 2.2 m/sec, the computer cannot collect the dispersed data at such a rate.
Job fragmentation is the main cause of the Carriage pausing at the end of a pass,
during printing.
Using the Diskeeper program should eliminate this phenomenon.

3 Installing the Diskeeper
1. Download the Diskeeper Professional version from Matan's ftp:
ftp://62.219.110.59/Diskeeper%20Professional%20Edition/
Username: matan/engc
Password: matanengc.
In future, it will be incorporated in the software's installer disk.
2. Run the downloaded exe file.
