Key Operating Instructions
1. The trowel machine must only be operated by trained operators
2. Read and understand the motor manufacturers instructions before operating machinery
3. Check the motor fluid levels as per the manufacturers manual before use
4. Always maintain a firm grip on the handle bars when starting the motor and whilst the motor is running.
5. Check the operation of the centrifugal cut-out switch on the handle bar stem. This can be done by starting the motor at idle speed – when the switch lever is moved back towards the operator the motor should cut out. The switch lever action must be light (i.e. no resistance when moving)
6. Maintain the V-belt guard in its original condition. Keep hands and feet away from any moving parts of the machine. Avoid operating the machine near bystanders. It is recommended that the operator wears safety shoes.
7. When starting the motor set the throttle to a minimum speed condition. When the operator is in a position of full control the speed of the motor may be increased so that the centrifugal clutch will engage and the blade assembly will rotate.
8. Take care that the blades do not strike any object. The resulting jarring could be dangerous and damage the machine.
9. Maintain a firm footing. To cause the machine to move to the right apply light downward pressure on the handle bar and upward pressure to move to the left.
Maintenance Instructions
1. Follow motor manufacturers instruction for servicing the motor
2. Keep a constant check to ensure that the oil is up to the level of the filler plug of the gearbox. Use 220 grade gear oil.
3. On the models that have grease nipples lubricate as required. Lubricate the thrust bearing before each days use. Grease the blade arms weekly or when replacing blades whichever comes first.
4. Periodically remove the tilting mechanism control handle from its housing and liberally coat the thread and trust bearing with grease.
