Safe Working Habits
To avoid poss ible electr ic shock or p er sonal inj ur y as well as dam ag e to the mete r or measur ed o bjects, please us e the meter acc ording to the f ollowing procedu re s methods :
Check the c ase before us ing the meter. D on't use th e meter wit h damaged cas e. Check to see i f the case is cracked o r lacks plast ic parts. Ple ase pay speci al attenti on t o the joint i nsulating l ayer. Check to se e if the test wir e has insul at ion damag e or bare meta l. Check test w ire continu ity. If th e wire is damaged , pl ease repl ac e it with a new o ne before using the m eter.
Measure k no wn voltag e wi th the mete r to verify tha t the meter i s working pro perly. If the meter is wo rking abnorma ll y, stop us ing it imme di ately. A prote ct ive device ma y be damaged. I f there is an y do ubt, plea se have the me ter inspect ed by a qualifi ed technici an. Do not test v oltage exce eding rated v oltage mark ed on the mete r. When test in g voltage e xceeding 30 V AC voltage RMS , 42V AC peak or 6 0V DC, be par ti cularly c ar eful to avoid ele ct ric shock . When meas ur ing, use co rrect jack, a nd select the proper fu nc tion and me asuring ran ge . Do not use th e meter in ex pl osive gas , va por or dust y environ me nts. When usin g the probe, fi ngers shoul d be behind the probe pro te ction dev ic e.
Before me as uring res is tance, co nt inuity, first tur n off pow er a nd discha rg e all high vo ltage capacit or s. If the mete r is not used i n ac cordanc e wi th the instruc ti ons, the me te r's safet y protectiv e function may becom e invalid. When open in g the case (o r part of the c as e), turn the meter o ff. When the ba ttery low vol tage indica tor " " becomes l it , replace t he battery at o nce. A low battery w il l cause met er reading er rors and may result in e lectric sho ck or persona l injury. Before op en ing the cas e or the batter y cover, remove th e test wire fro m the meter. When main ta ining the m eter, use repl acement par ts specifi ed b y the facto ry.

Measuring O peration
SMART Fu nc tion Measurement:
Move the rotary s wi tc h to the “SMART” po si ti on the default mode is “ AC Voltage” “DC Voltage”
“Resistance ” or “ Co ntinuity”, co nn ec t the test leads cross the circu t or l oa d to be measured, I t wi ll Au tomatic judgement on th e di sp lay.
AC Voltage or DC Volt ag e, o r Continuity or R es is tance, are measured si mu lt aneously.
AC/DC Voltage Mea su rement:
1
Rotate functi on s el ection switch t o vo lt age measurement p os it ion.
2
Press “FUNC” ke y to s el ect AC or DC voltage
3
Connect black a nd r ed t est probe to COM in pu t jack and respec ti ve ly.
4
Read the measur ed v al ue from LCD displ ay. When measuring AC or DC voltage , th e di splay will simultaneou sl y sh ow the voltage po la ri ty which is connected wit h re d te st probe.
Don't measure a ny R MS v oltage higher t ha n 600V DC or AC, to prevent in ju ry o r damage to meterand equi pm en t.

Here are s om e tips for measuring resi st ance:
The resistanc e me as ured on a circuit i s us ua lly differe nt f rom the rated value o f re sistance. Thi s is because the tes t cu rr ent of the meter wi ll f lo w through all possible ch an ne ls between test p ro be s. When measurin g lo w re sistance, to en su re a ccuracy, make a short circ ui t be tween the test pr ob es a nd read the resist an ce v alue of the short c ir cu it. This resistance va lu e sh ould be subtrac te d af ter measuring the resistanc e to b e te sted. When there is no in pu t (f or example, ope n ci rc uit), the display wil l sh ow “ OL”, which mean s th at t he measured valu e is o ut o f range.
When measurin g re si stance or circu it c on tinuity, to avoid injury o r me te r damage, turn of f th e power to the circ ui t an d discharge all c ap acitors.

General Mai ntenance
To avoid inj ur y or damage to the me te r, do n't wet the inner parts o f th e me ter. Before open in g the case or battery c ov er, r emove the conne ct in g cable between t he t es t probe and the inp ut s ignal.
Regularly cle an t he m eter case with da mp c lo th and a small amount of deter ge nt . Do not use abrasi ve s or c hemical solvents. If th e in pu t jack becomes di rt y or w et, it may affect th e me asurement readi ng s.
To clean input sock et : Turn off the m et er and pull out all the t es t probes

(such as WD-4 0) .
4
Clean each ja ck w ith a cotton ba ll a nd lubrican t to prevent con ta mination by m oi sture in the so ck et.
Replacing The Batteries
To avoid ele ct ric shock, make sur e th at t he test leads have been c le ar ly move away from t he c ir cuit under measure me nt b efore opening t he b at tery cover of the mete r.
Do not mix old and ne w ba tteries. Do not mix alkaline, sta nd ar d (carbon-zin c) , or rechargeable (ni-cad, ni-m h, e tc ) batteries.
If the sign “ ” app ea rs, it means th at t he b atteries should be rep la ce d. Loosen the fi xi ng screw of the bat te ry cover and remo ve i t. Replace the e xh au sted batter ie s with new ones. Put the batte ry c over back and fix i t ag ain to its orig in f or m.
Note:
Do not reverse th e po le s of the batterie s.
Replace test leads
Replace test le ad s if l eads become dam ag ed o r worn.
Use meet EN 61010-031 standard, rated CAT III 600V, 10A or better test leads.
