The higher horsepower models in the current MF 5400 range have evolved signiﬁcantly in key areas, providing farmers with the opportunity to boost the productivity and efﬁciency of their businesses.

A new range The enduring popularity of the MF 5400 Series has received a considerable boost with the introduction of a range of enhancements. These aim to provide users with more power, improved performance and a more modern appearance, but

maintaining the 5400 Series’ reputation for simplicity of operation, reliability and ease of maintenance.

In recognition of the growing demand among mixed farmers for more power to handle everlarger implements and save time

in transport applications, the introduction of two additional models at the top end of the horsepower range has extended the choice available. In addition, levels of comfort within the cab provide the operator with an excellent working environment.

The new MF 5400 Series carries a range of choices in bonnet design, cab height and visibility to enable purchasers to tailor their new machine to precisely match the tasks required of it.

The ‘Visio’ roof style can be speciﬁed, together with factoryinstalled beams for an MF 900 Series front loader.

More power, more fuel savings

The introduction of the latest Tier III common rail and four-valve engines means the new MF 5400 Series mid-hp tractors beneﬁt from the same features as the MF 6400 and MF 7400 higher hp models.

All models have signiﬁcantly more power at 2000 rev/min than previously at 2200 rev/min previously – an extra 10 hp, in fact – with additional power available for transport applications in 3rd and 4th range.

New generation engines

Featuring 4- or 6-cylinders, all the MF engines powering the new MF 5400 Series tractors deliver more power. Excellent hauling ability, an impressive power bulge

and transport boost – all this combined with ﬁrst class fuel economy and straightforward operation.

New transmissions, best in class

Such has been the popularity and success of the outstanding Dyna-4 gearbox that it is now the standard transmission on the new mid-horsepower MF 5400 Series tractor. The system ensures an incredibly smooth 4-speed Dynashift change in each of four gears, giving powershift ﬂ exibility over a wide speed range. And with Power Control, it couldn’t be easier.

Main Range

Providing optimum ﬁ eld performance, Dynashift and range changes can also be made, without the need to use the clutch pedal. The left-hand Power Control lever enables convenient and simple forward/ reverse shuttle, powershift changes and ﬁ ngertip de-clutching, leaving the right hand free to control front and rear implements or a front loader. The swivelling seat allows excellent views of both.

The ﬁ xed, T-shaped right-hand gear lever is moved forwards or back to change up or down through the four Dynashift ratios. Range is changed by simply pressing the range selection button as the lever is moved, whereupon speedmatching automatically selects the correct Dyna-4 ratio to match the tractor’s forward speed.

Smooth or fast shuttling – the choice is yours – just adjust the Comfort Control knob and you have the perfect tractor for loader work.

Creep and Supercreep options

Close control in specialist lowspeed tasks is assured with an additional eight (creep) or 16 (supercreep) gears, enabling forward speeds as low as 500m/ hr and 160m/hr respectively to be achieved.

The new MF 5400 Series tractors feature powerful linkages and Massey Ferguson’s renowned high-capacity hydraulics and PTO specs. Whatever the job, you’ve got all the dependable power you need, and some to spare. Strength, reliability and simplicity – you’ll see them all on the new MF 5400 Series.

Powerful 3-point linkage

High lift capability ensures that heavy mounted equipment can be handled with ease. Linkage height can be adjusted using switches conveniently mounted on the fender, so implements are attached quickly and easily. Electronic Linkage Control (ELC) is very precise and responsive, ensuring high work quality.

Straightforward hydraulics

With 57 litres/minute of oil available for linkage and external hydraulic functions, there is more than enough ﬂow and pressure for lifting heavy implements or running ancillary equipment.

100 litre option…

If extra oil ﬂow is required, customers of the MF 5460, 5465 and 5470 models can specify the

hydraulic boost option, which combines the ﬂow from two pumps to provide an impressive 100 litres/minute of oil ﬂow to the spool valves alone.

…or CCLS

An option on the new MF 5400 range of tractors is the Closed Centre Load Sensing (CCLS) hydraulics system, which delivers 110 litres/minute on demand.
