Powerful, high-capacity
engines

For their size, MF 4400 Series tractors all have large capacity
engines. Combined with the long stroke design, this gives plenty
of torque at low engine speed, with up to 29% torque back-up, so
even in difcult terrain or heavy soil conditions the tractors are easy
to operate.
Tough and reliable
The AGCO SISU POWER engines
have also been designed to
give many years of trouble-free
service. Engine components
are highly specied to meet the
demands of the high-performance
turbochargers, and features such
as mechanical fuel injection and
wet cylinder liners with ‘mid
cylinder support’ give durability
and, ultimately, easier and less
expensive maintenance or repair.
Ingenious engine installation
MF 4400 Series tractors are built
around a central ‘H’ section frame.
The engine is mounted at the front
of the frame and the gearbox and
transaxle are mounted at the rear.
The frame also acts as the main
fuel tank.
The frame design has a number of
signicant advantages, including:
• Excellent weight distribution and
a low centre of gravity, giving
improved weight transfer and
hillside stability.
• The forward position of the
engine also improves weight
distribution and tractor balance,
for improved operation with
heavy rear-mounted equipment.
• Fast, ground level refuelling.

Simple, effective
transmission and
‘driveline’
The 12 forward, 12 reverse speed, fully synchromesh transmission
has simple gear selection and features a mechanical shuttle and
creeper speeds as standard.
Creep to transport speeds
With ground speed coverage from
0.9 to 40 km/h, there is real
exibility to achieve optimum
performance and economy in
the widest range of applications,
from demanding eld work to
rapid transport. And with large,
comfortable gear levers, selection
of the four speeds and three ranges
is positive and straightforward.
Forward/reverse shuttle
Direction change is made by a
lever mounted to the left of the
seat, leaving the right hand free for
steering, spool valve operation or
other controls.
Mechanical control is standard
with power-assisted operation
available as an option on 4-wheel
drive cab models. Ideal in frequent
front loader work, at the touch
of a button on the gear, range or
shuttle lever, the clutch is poweractivated, so in most situations,
there is no need to operate the
clutch manually.
When the mechanically power-
assisted shuttle is specied, a high
specication digital instrument
panel is also tted, providing
additional tractor performance data.
2- or 4-wheel drive
All models are available with 2or 4-wheel drive. The heavy-duty
4-wheel drive axle provides all the
familiar advantages of superior
traction and stability and has
excellent load capacity, giving
outstanding durability - ideal for
front loader tment.

Linkage and hydraulics
The rugged linkage, with its top
link sensing draft control system,
provides exceptional ground
contour following and traction for
top quality work.
Control is really simple too, with
simple mechanical levers providing
fast, accurate linkage adjustment.
Standard linkage and hydraulic
system specication includes a
pick-up hitch, heavy-duty, variable
oat telescopic stabilisers and two
spool valves with
joystick control.
Electronic Linkage Control (ELC)
For simplicity and even greater
accuracy, ELC is available as
an option. This also brings
additional features, including
Active Transport Control, which
enables faster, safer transport
of linkage-mounted equipment
by reducing implement bounce
and pitching. Fender-mounted
switches also provide convenient
linkage adjustment for fast, easy
implement attachment.
High-power PTO
The simple PTO drive design
incorporates just a single set of
transfer gears between the engine
and PTO shaft. So power losses
are very low, achieving maximum
power at the PTO shaft. A choice
of 540/540 Economy (750) rpm
or 540/1000 rpm is available;
both with simple, mechanically
controlled clutch with a lever to
the left of the instrument console.
Electro-hydraulic PTO
engagement
Ideal for use in applications
requiring frequent engagement
and disengagement of the PTO
or where the convenience of
switch operation is preferred,
an electro-hydraulic PTO
system is available. Activated
by a ‘B’ post-mounted
switch, the system provides
hydraulic operation of the
existing mechanical clutch,
reducing fatigue and improving
productivity in PTO work.
With either 2.9 or 3.3 tonne lift capacity and up to 55 litres of oil
ow at high pressure, the MF 4400 Series is more than a match for
most day-to-day tasks.

There is a choice of Standard or
Low Prole cab, opening front
windscreen and a range of heating
and ventilation options, including
air conditioning.
Two wide-opening rear hinged
doors make access easy and,
once inside, you’ll nd that all of
the controls are well positioned,
with large, clearly identied levers
and switches performing all major
functions with a high degree of
mechanical simplicity.
There is a choice of mechanical
or air suspension seats, both
with a comprehensive range of
adjustments, including armrests
and swivel.
With the optional air suspension
seat, at the touch of a lever,
accurate adjustment to compensate
for driver weight or terrain is
achieved quickly, for maximum
comfort and safety at all times.
A folding instructors seat is also
tted as standard equipment.
Heating and ventilation
Adjustable console-mounted vents
give excellent air distribution for
driver comfort, demisting and
ventilation. The standard consolemounted heater can be supplemented
with a roof-mounted heater and
full air conditioning; both with
additional roof-mounted vents.
With easy access from both sides, the MF 4400 Series has been
designed to be spacious, comfortable and easy to operate... at all
times, in all conditions.

Ergonomic interior
The seat rotates through 180°
allowing the operator to work
easily with rear mounted logging
equipment.
The shuttle lever is relocated to
the right hand side of the cab to
enhance access and a foot throttle
is specied at the rear of the cab
to provide additional engine speed
control.
Shared with the standard cab,
there is also a frame around the
cab roof to provide protection
when working in forestry
environments.
The whole operator area is
spacious and uncluttered, with
all controls within easy reach.
The instrument console houses
a comprehensive range of
instruments and warning lights that
are fully encased and sealed to
keep out dust and moisture.
Comfort and safety
Getting in and out of the tractor is
easy and safe, with hand grips and
wide, self-cleaning steps leading
to the spacious forestry cab. Once
aboard, the driver is also protected
from engine heat and noise.
The spring suspension seat

So oil contamination is minimised,
