MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE:
1• Turn the meter on by pressing ON/OFF.
2• When the LCD displays “- - -”,
the meter is ready.
3• Fill the cuvet with 10 mL of
unreacted sample, up to the
mark and replace the cap.
4• Place the cuvet into the holder
and ensure that the notch on
the cap is positioned securely
into the groove.
5• Press ZERO and “SIP” will blink
on the display.
6• After a few seconds the dis-
play will show “-0.0-”. The
meter is now zeroed and
ready for measurement.
7• For free chlorine measurement:
Add 3 drops of DPD 1 reagent to an empty
cuvet.
8• Add 5 mL of DPD 0 reagent by using a
syringe.
9 • Fill the cuvet up to the 10 mL mark with 5
mL of unreacted sample using a pipette.
10• Replace the cap and shake gentily for a
few seconds.
11• Immediately insert the cuvet into the holder
and ensure that the notch on the cap is
positioned securely into the groove.
12• Press READ and “SIP” will blink
during measurement.
13• The instrument directly displays con-
centration in mg/L of chlorine.
14• Then, for total chlorine measurement,
remove the cuvet and add to the reacted
sample 3 drops of DPD 3. Replace the cap
and swirl gently.
15• Reinsert the cuvet into the holder and en-
sure that the notch on the cap is positioned securely into the groove.
16• Wait for 2 minutes and
30 seconds then press
READ and “SIP” will blink
during measurement.
17• The instrument directly displays concentra-
tion in mg/L of total chlorine.
Interferences
• Bromine (positive error)
• Chlorine dioxide (positive error)
• Iodine (positive error)
• Oxidized Manganese and Chromium (positive
error)
• Ozone (positive error)
• Alkalinity above 250 mg/L CaCO3 or acidity
above 150 mg/L CaCO3 will not reliable develop the full amount of color or it may
rapidly fade. To resolve this, neutralize the
sample with diluted HCl or NaOH.
