MXL microphones are the result of world-class engineering and manufacturing capabilities.  ey are designed to provide you with outstanding performance and exceptional value. For best results, please take a few moments to review this literature.
General Characteristics
 e MXL V88s is a small pro le multi-purpose microphone with a  xed cardoid pattern. It features a 32mm large diaphragm capsule, and a low noise FET preamp with fully balanced transformerless output. In addition it has a 3 position pad (pre attenuation) switch with settings of 0dB,
-10dB and -20 dB.  e addition of the pad switch enables the use of the microphone with sound sources producing very high sound pressure levels, without overloading the microphones internal circuitry.  e MXL V88s is suitable for a wide range of applications, delivering power and depth to vocals, as well as capturing the clarity and smoothness of instrumental performances. Wired with Mogami cable, the MXL V88s’s  delity and versatility will ensure it is a favorite in your studio.
Power Requirements
IMPORTANT –  is microphone requires phantom power at 48 volts, +/- 4 volts. Each unit has been thoroughly checked before shipping, so if you hear no sound, check that the phantom power on your preamp, mixer or seperate power supply is switched on!
Microphone Cables
 e microphone cable can have a profound e ect on the sound of any microphone. Even the  nest microphones will sound poor if the interconnect cable allows noise to enter, or causes distortion and loss of information. We recommend the use of Mogami Gold Studio microphone cables.
Care
Dust and foreign material can degrade the performance of a microphone over time so always store the unit in its case. For vocals closer than 3”, use

a “popper stopper” or a foam windscreen to avoid getting moisture on the diaphragm as this can substantially degrade the microphone’s performance.
