MARS Motor Torque Multiplier
The MARS MTX100, MTX200 and MTX300 motor torque multipliers feature a
combination PTC solid state device, and start capacitor in one compact unit.
The MTX100 is designed for use on PSC motors and compressors up to 5HP,
277V maximum; the MTX200 is designed for use on PSC motors and
compressors up to 10HP, 277V maximum; and the MARS MTX300 is designed
for use on PSC motors & compressors from 1-1/2 up to 10HP, 115-230V. These
units are easily installed by connecting the two leads from the MTXunit to the
motor run capacitor terminals.

Solid State Start Assist Device
MARS Series 327 Start Assists are solid ceramic devices that increase the starting
torque of permanent split capacitor (PSC) motor by as much as 500%.
Three different models to choose from let you select the one thatʼs best for each
application. MARS Start Assists come equipped with standard 0.25” quick-connect
terminals and a handy mounting bracket for safe, fast, easy installation.
Performing in a manner similar to that of a motor starting capacitor and potential relay,

our device improves the starting ability of a PSC motor by momentarily increasing the
current supplied to the auxiliary winding. When voltage is applied, the MARS Start
Assist heats up and changes from very low to very high resistance. Thus, it becomes
essentially non-conductive, permitting the compressor motor to return to PSC running
operation. MARS motor starters are designed for use on PSC compressor motors of
air conditioners, heat pumps, commercial refrigeration pumps, etc. They are connected
in parallel with the run capacitor, as the diagram shows.
